I called Nelson's Tree Service on a Saturday. Romeo, the estimator, came out on a Sunday and the work was completed by Monday morning. Everything was completed in a timely, professional manner. The price was very competitive and there was no debris left over when the work was finished. We couldn't have been more satisfied.

My wife dealt with the tree contractor and found them to be honest, reliable and respectful. Romeo visitied my home and assessed the situation . His questions were succinct and he was quick to offer a quote for removing a very tall tree. To help defray the cost Romeo offered a money saving opportunity which allowed us to remove additional trees. The crew arrived on time with necessary equipment and immediately went to work. They were supervised by Dimas who organized the work and kept the job moving. Romeo visited the job twice checking in with the crew. Dimas checked with my wife to make sure all the work was as expected and kept her updated on what/when the next phase would be. They took time to make sure that the stump grinding left the area level. The clean up was meticulous and completed in record time. My wife is originally from New England and has been very disappointed in other contractors we have hired in the Germantown area. This was the first time that she was not only satisfied but felt that Nelson Tree Specialists were above and beyond her expectations. This company is a WIN WIN for everyone involved.

We moved into our house recently, and were nervous about some large branches that extended precariously over portions of the roof. With the possibility of high winds knocking down branches and causing damage to the house, we decided to trim the branches back on some of the trees. The folks from Nelson Tree Specialist, Inc. showed up right on time on the scheduled morning. They were professional, courteous,and friendly. They worked quickly and efficiently. They also cleaned up thoroughly when they were finished. I will definitely use their services again, and I would highly recommend Nelson Tree Specialist, Inc. to anyone.

I contacted Nelson for an estimate and was told someone will be out the next day to do the estimate; however, Romeo, the area sales/service manager was out the day I called and left the estimate in my door. Pleased with the estimate, I called Romeo to schedule an appointment to get the job done - his crew was out and ready to work the scheduled day. They were able to remove all except one of the stumps in my back yard so they left it untouched. When I noticed it, I contacted Romeo immediately and he explained why. He suggested having it cut down to ground level and I was pleased with that and without a problem, he sent someone out to cut it. Romeo was very professional, responsive and committed to making sure Iwas happy with the work performed before payment. I am forever thankful for him and would recommend them to others.

We have a very large, old tree in our yard that is in need to pruning. It hangs over the power lines coming into our house and branches knock against our roof during storms. So my husband and I looked to Angie's list to obtain names of highly rated companies that could provide us with advice and estimates. One of the companies we contacted was Nelson. Someone answered the phone the very first time I called and set up an appointment for the next day. On the day of the estimate, Romeo arrived on time. He was very friendly. He identified the said tree as a male Walnut and recommended that we take down a very large branch hanging over the side. He said that the tree was damaged and would need to come down in about 10 years. The quote for pruning the tree was $700. That seemed like a lot of money for one tree, but Romeo was nice enough and seemed like he knew what he was talking about. My husband and I then made appointments with two other highly rated Angie's list companies (actually with more certifications and credentials than Nelson). We needed to do our due diligence. The two other companies quoted us almost the same exact price for pruning the tree--nearly $250 less than Nelson's quote, identified the said tree as an Ash--not a male Walnut, told us that the tree was very healthy (i.e., not damaged), and said that there is no need to take down the large branch. Both companies gave almost identical recommendations and estimates! It seems like Nelson was trying to take us for a ride--incorrect tree ID, unnecessary service, and overpriced. Needless to say, we're not going to use Nelson. Nor would we consider using them in the future. I am so glad that we received quotes from two other companies!

Nelson did a great job! All debris was removed. The work was professional and I thought I got a good price.

After some initial scheduling confusion, they arrived a week later and cut the trees and limbs. They were able to do it without me at home, which was great. I paid over the phone later that evening. They did a great job, and I highly recommend them.

Nelson Tree came out and inspected the trees that we wanted cut back/shaped. They gave us a price and said they could come the next day and it would take several hours. I was pleasantly surprised by the price and the fact they got us on the schedule so quickly. On the day they came, I watched from inside the house and occasionally walked outside to see how everything was going. I was amazed by how quickly and accurately they did their work. I asked for very specific trims on a couple of the trees and this was done beyond my expectations. Actually, all the work was performed beyond my expectations. The work was done accurately and beautifully. My trees desperately needed help and Nelson Tree provided this. My trees look beautiful. As an added surprise, the gentlemen very kindly pruned my Japanese Maple- my pride and joy. I thought this was very nice. Everyone was on time, professional, explained what they were doing if I asked and took care with my trees. I will definitely be utilizing them again in the future. Contacted Nelson's Tree Specialist's after ice storm back in December to get an estimate to remove fallen and broken branches. They promptly returned my call, scheduled an appt. They arrived on time, gave me an estimate on removing the branches. However, it was advised that once the branches were removed the tree would be uneven (on hill) and eventually fall. I had them give me an estimate on removing the other trees and got a great price. (trees were well over 25 feet tall). They did a fantastic job. Arrived on time and were finished in no time. The workers were courteous. They cleaned up all the mess and left my yard in great shape. Received a great price compared to the other estimates I received from 2 other companies (and they were doing less work). I would highly recommend this company to my friends. GREAT JOB!!!

They cut down one very large damaged tree with its base, and as an encore cut down a nearby smaller one for an additional $100. They honored Angie's 30% discount, which I presented to them after they made their original estimate, with no questions asked. They did their work very professionally and quickly. Highly recommended.

Romeo from Nelson was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. The workmen were efficient and cleaned up well.

Nelson provided an estimate within 2 days of my request and they were able to do the work on the day after I selected them. The crew of 5 (including a working supervisor) arrived exactly as promised and were on site for about 8 hours performing the work. The crew members were very organized and cleaned up each work area as they finished. Due to accessibility issues in my yard one of their trucks got stuck in the soft ground which entailed having a second crew come to help extract the stuck truck. In the end the crew used a skid-steer loader to level and fill the ruts from the stuck truck and they are scheduled to return today to finish smoothing and seeding the area. Overall the crew did an excellent job.

Romeo was fantastic! We live in an eco sensitive area. He provided me with the info and phone #s to get a permit for dead tree in danger of falling removed. Within 2 days of receiving the permit they completed the work. i was especially grateful because rain and snow were expected and fell 2 days later which were hazards which might cause the tree to fall. They are very knowledgeable and honest. They give extremely fair prices. I 100% recommend them.

They arrived on time and were professional and completed the work as promised. I would definitely use them again. We chose this company as they offered the best price which came in about 1300 below other companies in the area. The also left the back yard clean of debris. Very pleased and highly recommend you use this company for any tree removal work.

Romeo, the manager, and his crew arrived at exactly the scheduled time (8:30 A.M.). After we went over the details of the job, they went to work right away and completed a difficult job (the large tree in the back was surrounded by a deck, close to my house, and with large branches extending over the neighbor's fence) quickly, carefully, and thoroughly. When I came to my home from work I was pleasantly surprised to see a carefully manicured holly tree in the front of my house, and a cleared and clean back yard. They even cleared my deck from a one foot deep layer layer of maple leaves. i plan to hire this company again for future tree maintenance jobs.

They came over quickly, gave an estimate, and showed up and did the work the next day. Very professional. One of the trees was diseased, and difficult to get down safely. They did it with great care. I would definitely use them again.

They were great! I called for an estimate and they came out that very day. They called and gave me a quote of $950 over the phone. I had seen a package on Angie's List for $1000 worth of service for $699, so I went ahead and purchased the package that day. They were out bright and early the very next day to do the work. The crew was professional and walked the property with me to ensure they were fully understanding my needs. When I came home from work, the trees looked great and the yard was all cleaned up. If I hadn't known they were there working, I never would have been able to tell otherwise. I highly recommend Nelson's. They were first-class and I will definitely use them again.

Romeo came out to give me an estimate and told me exactly what work would be performed and what equipment was to be used. On the day of the scheduled service, Romeo called and told me that the crew would be a couple of hours late because the previous days rain had a slight impact on their schedule. I appreciated him letting me know that and was prepared for when they arrived. Upon arrival, the crew was prompt, professional and extremely careful in setting up the crane that was used to cut down my tree. The guys answered my questions and within a few hours, had cut the tree down, ground the stump, cleaned up and moved on to their next job. Without question, I would HIGHLY recommend Nelson Tree Specialist to anyone that needs ANY kind of tree service!

Workers were punctual, efficient and friendly. They were professional and well equipped. Of 3 estimates, they beat the next closest by $1000. The work was finished within 4 hours. I would recommend them to others.

These guys were great from start to finish. They were on time for the estimate. In fact I got home early so I called to let them know and when I did Romeo was already waiting there but was waiting until the agreed upon time to knock on the door. They were the only company to give me an estimate on the spot (included the information to show me they were licensed and insured). And the best part of all they were the best price by far. The next day I called to hire them and they came out the following day to do the work. They arrived on time and got right to work (It is actually very cool to watch them work from such heights) I left the house for a few hours and by the time I came back they were cleaning up which I should also add they did a great job at. Without question I will be calling them for future tree needs and given how reasonable they were I do not need to waste my time with multiple estimates.

This was a big hassle and a very weird experience. It was totally unexpected as we had used Nelsons twice before with happy results. It's a long story, but as briefly as possible - we were given a truckload a large, trunk rounds of hickory logs by someone. The rounds were too heavy and big for us to lift and split. We called Nelsons to get an estimate on cutting them up with a chain saw, so that we could then split them ourselves. Nice phone interaction and a young man named "D" came out the next day in an official Nelsons vehicle. He gave us an estimate of $225 to cut up the wood and said someone or even he himself would come out Friday or over the weekend. No one arrived, so I called the office on Monday. The person on the phone didn't know what I was talking about and got upset that "D" had given us an estimate and said that their minimum charge for any job was $450. However, they called back and said they would do it for $250. No one showed up for a week, so I phoned again. I was told they had called to come out and my husband said he would only pay them only $100! Not true. I told them this was not true but they seemed reluctant to believe me. However, we got back to, "okay we will send someone out." Another week, I call again and was told "Three men went to your house with a chainsaw and your husband or the neighbor told them to go away as you were not home" Again, not true as my husband is disabled and always home. And certainly would not send anyone away who was going to cut up the wood! We'd been hoping every day that they would show up! What the h**k was going on!?! This was getting weird. Not to mention unprofessional and downright bizarre. It appears that "D" was not authorized to give estimates or was doing it on his own time, but Nelsons did not make it right with us. The representative on the phone kept presenting these strange stories rather than just saying that their employee had made a mistake and they would prefer not to do the work. It is a shame as we have a large yard full of old trees that need work and we had had good experiences with them before. We found another company that came promptly and did a great job at a reasonable price. I have to give Nelsons an "F" for the way they handled this.

Wow. Very competitive price and quick service. If you want an estimate...these guys are there and ready to conduct the job...awesome.

In late August I made an appointment to get an estimate. The salesperson was on time for the appointment. He wrote the estimate and presented it to me on the spot. A week later I called to schedule the tree work, and they came out 2 days after that to do the work. The crew was on time, professional and responsive to my special requests. I would use them again.
