"I would like to clarify a few of the items that caused the delays. The initial demo revealed mold in the walls, which we cleaned and repaired. The toilet was approx 3 inches from the wall, so we moved it closer to the wall, allowing more room to get to the shower. Because there was no main shut off valve for the house, the only means of shutting off the water was to turn off the electricity to the well pump and drain the holding tank. We installed shut off valves in order to isolate the bathroom plumbing, so we would not have to repeat this process. All these items were done at no additional charge to the client. We completed the remodel except for the countertop in the approximate time stated to the client. The granite fabricator was not one that I had used in the past. The customer requested that I use this company because they had done her kitchen counters and she was pleased with their work. After the initial install, I noticed that the cut-outs did not fit the bowls properly. The client also noticed at that time, that the reflection in the mirror revealed a flaw in the drain hole of one of the bowls. I had them remove the slab to replace it, and ordered a new bowl. In order to save on costs, the bowls had been ordered online as the client requested. The second one came completely broken, so a third one had to be ordered, adding to the delay. The fabricator damaged the walls in the removal process, which we repaired and repainted at no additional cost to the homeowner. When the second slab was being taken off the truck, I noticed the faucet holes were not correct, and had them return it immediately. The client was extremely distraught at this point, so I took the time to meet her at the fabricator's showroom and talk with the owner to insure that the next slab would be correct. He personally checked the slab before it left the shop. The third slab was finally completely properly. This was a hair raising experience for us as well as the client, but not because of any personal issues. These clients were very kind folks and a pleasure to work for. Needless to say, this chain of events caused uncontrolled delays, and we did have other jobs we were committed to at that point. We could not finish the plumbing hook-ups until the countertop was correct. As far as the vanity mirror, the client had requested that we use their original mirror if at all possible. The edges were showing signs of wear, but the mirror itself was in great shape, so we custom made a cherry frame to match the style of the vanity, and stained it to match the vanity as well. We felt badly that the uncontrolled delays had caused this whole process to take longer than expected, so we also installed the light over the vanity at no additional charge to the client. We will definitely use our regular fabricator on all future jobs. They always do a great job, and we have never had them re-do any of their work. Had the countertop been done properly the first time, this job would have been completed in a more timely fashion. Quality and integrity are always our top priorities. We will not compromise on these issues just to get the job done. Thanks you, Tim Watts president T. M. Watts Design/Build, LLC"
"This member was great to work with. She is an artist and chose to do the painting herself. We used the new DensArmor wall board from Georgia-Pacific since there were going to be three teenage boys using the shower on a pretty regular basis. When the member called me about the paint peeling, we did some research and found the problem to be the primer. If you use DensArmor, be sure to use exactly the type of primer recommended by the manufacturer, otherwise the top coat will not adhere, and will peel when exposed to moisture. The member sanded down the old paint and we re-skimmed the walls. She used the correct primer and voila! No more peeling! She did a beautiful job painting -- the best I’ve ever seen from a homeowner, and even better than many professionals!"
