The gutters were not flush against the soffett. As a result, rain fell through gaps and
ponded around the foundation of the house.
I am now saving to have more done by Home depot and the great team of contracted craftsman. I would recommend them and loyally go there. Truly fine value for the cost.
I became very frustrated as by now the Christmas holiday had passed and I still had the counter top with problems. I then decided that I would talk to the district manager of Home Depot. I had been told not to do that but let the local people handle it. I then had to wait for the district manager and the manager of the stone company to get together and come out to look at my countertop. That took a couple of weeks. While they both decided that the counter needed to be replaced, it took another couple of weeks for them to decide who was going to pay for the replacement. It certainly was not me. I was told to pick out a new slab which we did the beginning of April. The new piece was the same price so that wasn't a problem. The problem was that they couldn't decide who was paying and to write the PO for the new counter. The new counter was finally installed in May.
The new counter was 100% better than what we had. It was shiny, no pits, the seam was almost invisible and a wet sponge did not leave a stain. The sales people at Home Depot and the men who did the installation were both very professional.
We are regrettably contacted Home Depot At Home Services Window Department one year ago and entered into a contract on November 5, 2010 for window replacements in our entire home. Michael Bouscaren sat at our dining room table and guaranteed nothing less than a quality product that is comparable to your top competitors, excellent customer service, and professional installation. We have not received what was promised to us in any of the above categories.
Over the last year we have had two project coordinators, Ola Carew and Jean Carter. We have had five different install dates, three of which actually occurred. We have had three different sets of subcontractors at our home, none of whom finished the job as assured. We have dealt with three different field inspectors, Ken Hill, Gary, and Bill K.; each assuring us that they would care for our needs and each have neglected to do so. At this time, we still have an existent list of outstanding issues that have not been corrected. They are as follows:
and middot; Trim installed around the window frames
and middot; No insulation
and middot; Chipping Paint
and middot; Scratching
and middot; Poor Welds on the screens and window frames
and middot; Sliding door screen
and middot; Three loose double hung windows (not screwed in place) and multiple cracks in the frame.
The fifth install date was Saturday March 19, 2011 Jean Carter said that she would personally inspect the window before it was delivered to our home so that we would not lose a fifth day of work in vein. The window arrived damaged and none of the things listed above were fixed on that day. At this point we had lost so much time from work and were so fed up with the product we were receiving we did not want a fourth window to be ordered until we could discuss the terms of the contract in person with the field supervisor. This appointment did not take place for 7 months! We had to contact Home Depot when they sent out a threatening letter that our contract was completed and they would send us to collections if we did not pay the remaining balance. Imagine our disgust! We were finally able to get in touch with Bill and we scheduled an appointment for August 27, 2011. He canceled the day before and did not make an attempt to reschedule. We had to call to reschedule multiple times and he came out to inspect on Monday October 3, 2011.
He assured us that there would be compensation involved for our inconvenience and time lost from work. He promised a compensation figure by Wednesday, October 5, 2011 and only after we contacted the corporate office, on October 11, 2011, were we able to speak to him regarding the change in contract amount. We still do not have a meeting of the minds in regard to our contract, his compensation attempt was menial.
Firstly, we have contractual issues. 1) The contract states that the job would be completed in a timely manner, an approximate 12 week turnaround. We are reaching a 12 month turnaround! 2) The quality promised in the contract and as shown on the floor model does not match the quality of product that we received. 3) The insulation and trim were not installed as stated in the contract.
Next, we have to discuss lost wages. The 10% off the contract amount that was offered by Bill does not even come close to the damages occurred in lost wages for multiple installs that were not completed to satisfaction nor the excessive wait time that we have suffered as a result of poor craftsmanship, poor customer service, and an overall lack of consideration on behalf of this huge corporation, Home Depot.
We have not been treated with the respect nor with the individualism were we promised when we entered into the contract with Mike. Rather, we have been treated like a nameless and faceless client. We have been pushed from one person to the next, each person pushing blame onto the last.
In reality, we are to blame for assuming that a big company would be able to give us the care and attention and professionalism of a small company. Normally, we would be able to look our contractor in the eye and say, “because of you I have these issues”. Due to the number of individuals involved in our project each places blame on the other and the consumer is left with a messy job and no regards for our lively hood nor any compassion for the fact that we have put other home improvement projects on hold waiting for this to be finished. We have lived one year with cracked, non insolated and unfinished window frames.
Finally, we have 3 partially installed double hung windows that are not screwed in and are a safety hazard.
As a consumer, we have a right to expect that what was promised in the contact would be fulfilled in its entirety in a reasonable amount of time. Home Depot has not fulfilled the terms of the contract and we proposed two resolutions. We also left a message with John Brown, and never received a return phone call or e-mail from him or anyone else from corporate.
Let it be known that in our case what we proposed was not to satisfy us, but rather to make an agreeable arrangement where we could have a meeting of the minds. We were not trying to take advantage nor receive something that is not owed to us, but rather put this issue behind us and they were still unresponsive!
