Hearn was great!  Courteous, professional, timely and efficient.  From the office personnel to the project estimator to the work crew - everyone was wonderful to work with.  The roofing team kept me abreast of what they were doing and any changes that needed to be made to the estimated work after the old roof was removed.  The flat roofs in DC rowhouses can be a nightmare but I'm happy to say that I have a new roof with no more leaks.  The folks at Hearn Co. are tremendous and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

The company proved to be unreliable.  The original contract was signed on September 26, 2011.  The second contract was signed on October 24, 2011 (which added the removal of the back gutter and newly installed fascia as needed).  Between October 30 and the second week of January 2012, there were many excuses as to why the work had not been completed.  In January I called the company and told then I wanted to end the contract, the owner promised that she would have workers out in a day or two.  The workers did arrive in two days.  They came without the necessary ladders.  I let them use my two ladders.  I left home after they arrived.  When I received their invoice of the amount of fascia used it was for 60 feet of fascia.  I measured the required length and found that it was 50 feet.  The company did reduce the charges based on the 50 feet of materials.  Not only did this company take an unusual amount of time to complete this small job, I found that they could be very discourteous on the telephone after I questioned the amount on their invoice.  Will never use this company again.

Their estimate was the best presentation, The price was about in the middle od the 8-10 estimates we got, but the value was the best. The estimator was the most knowledgable regarding roofing options of all interviewed. He answered all questions promptly, and supplied literature on every aspecr queried(venting, blowers for attic cooling,roof planks, shingle options, cedar shake options). They were a pack short on the number of packs of shingles needed for the roof. It was supplied at no additional cost to the job. Their cleanup was excellent at the end of the job. The increased insulation has been great. Warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and less energy costs.

Estimator arrived on time, friendly and professional. Surveyed the attic, identified a bathroom vent that had not been properly connected to roof vent, proposed an economical fix on the fascia damage. Provided an estimate via email the next day. Scheduled work for a few days later. Crew of two arrived on time and completed the attic work efficiently and with minimum disruption inside the house. Minor communication issue when they left without completing the fascia repair, but later learned they had left to get a different truck with the proper ladders and the work would be completed the next day. Made me a little uneasy, but they did complete the work the next day as promised. Overall, struck me as a professional organization handling relatively small projects efficiently.

He has been very good about diagnosing and repairing problems. He is reliable and responsive; I know I can depend on him to give me a quick estimate on what the problem is. At one point they missed a problem after the work was completed so they came back and corrected the mistake.

Their estimate was the most complete, their salesman most knoweledgable, and their presentention the most informed od 12 estimates and/or bids.

Crew showed up by 7:00 am as promised. They were 85% done by 3:00 pm, so asked to stay late that day to complete (changing 2 day job into 1 day). That meant they finished up at a time when me & my spouse could inspect and they quickly resolved the few issues we had (e.g., gutter over back door was a little low, making it difficult to open door). Best clean-up by roofers I've seen. When it did finally rain after the job, we had a leak. Called the company in the morning and someone was there same day to inspect and repair by 10:00 am.
