Description of Work: Jim Buckingham has been my mechanic for several years. If you call, usually you will be talking to him. I have had a good experience with him. He has at times advised me not to do certain services called advised by the dealership because they were not needed and expensive. The most recent service I had was a shorted-out battery that he replaced, where the AAA road-side assistance had said I probably needed the starter replaced because the battery charge was fine.

Description of Work: I have used Buckingham Automotive for years. They are very professional, honest, experienced, dependable, and expert in any kind of work you need done on your car. Cost is very reasonable too! You could not find a better place to take your car. Unfortunately, I moved to the other side of Baltimore, so I had to find another auto shop to work on my car. But I recommend this place highly! I guarantee you will be satisfied and happy with Buckingham Automotive.

They didn't charge me for this. I removed the tint before I took it to them so they just had to eyeball the car. They could have probably charged me for it. They were really quick.
Description of Work: I got pulled over and was told my tint was too dark. They had to measure to see how dark it really was.

 + -1 moreWe had previously brought the car in for an oil change, when Mr. Buckhingham informed us that the axle boot had ruptured and was spewing grease under the car. He told us it would need to be repaired at or prior to the next oil change. Because we were about to leave on a long driving vacation, we decided to have the repairs done at the next available opportunity. We brought the car in on a Friday morning, and a couple of hours later he called to inform us that a new part was not available, but that the existing part could be rebuilt for significantly less cost and only marginally shorter lifespan. Because we needed to use the vehicle the following Monday, we opted for the rebuild. This was done by the end of the day, and we were able to pick up the vehicle before closing. In all we have been extremely pleased with the quality and timeliness of the service that Buckingham Automotive provides. We plan on bringing our vehicles to him whenever possible.
Description of Work: Most recently, we had a CV joint rebuilt, an axle boot replaced, and an oil change for an SUV. The service was quick, with several options offered to us from rebuilding the existing part (which could be done that day) to ordering a new part, which would have been considerably more expensive and would would have taken longer due to backorder issues. We also had some water drained that had accumulated in the door. We regularly have both of our vehicles serviced here for both minor regular maintenance and for major repairs.

 + -1 moreWe have been taking our cars to Buckingham Automotive for several years, initially on the recommendation of our neighbor. We find that Mr. B is courteous and knowledgeable and offers complete, honest service in a timely fashion. He will tell you if something on your car needs attention, but never suggests superfluous or unnecessary repairs. Recently, Buckingham's went the extra mile to help me when I needed new tires and discovered that a different mechanic who had last removed the tires had broken off part of the locking lugnut into the locking lugnut key, which rendered both the key unusable and the lugnut stuck. Mr. B actually went to the VW dealer for the master key, and he worked after hours with a family member to weld something onto the broken lugnut in order to be able to remove it. Thanks to the great service at Buckingham's, I now have new tires and a car that runs great!
Description of Work: The last service performed was having the tires and air filter changed on my VW Cabrio. I routinely have the oil changed there, have had the cooling system checked after a random overheating, and had the A/C evaporator drain fixed after it became clogged. My husband also takes his 2000 Dodge Dakota to Buckingham's for major repairs, including coolant leaks, sensors, exhaust, & air-conditioning repair. He likes that what Buckingham's fixes stays fixed. He has also received good advice on the amount of wear & tire left on tires, brakes, & the like.
