Then all seemed okay? right up until the water stopped softening. They came out and made setting adjustments? okay for a few weeks? but same problem kept occurring. The went on for several months. They finally came out with the distributor/manufacturer rep to see if they could fix it and they basically set it up to regenerate water every couple of weeks. Fixed the water quality, but now I?m wasting thousands of gallons of softened water?and filling the tank with salt all the time?which is what I wanted to avoid and why I paid more for an on-demand system. All the while they promised to get this fixed or return the system. They even told me they would set back the warrantee start date until it was working properly. All hollow promises.
It?s been about a year now and I still need to reset the computerized system to lessen the regeneration times. They might even be able to walk me through this on the phone, which I offered. Mid-Maryland is MIA... they haven?t answered calls or texts in months. I finally called the distributor directly, and they cannot help because they only speak to the installing plumbers, not end customers. However, the distributor was able to send me a manual which the Mid-Maryland never did, even after multiple requests. So now I either have to hire (and pay for!) another plumber to go through the whole thing to see if they can properly set up this specific water-softening system? or I have to begin fiddling with complicated computerized settings myself to see if I can do it.
Not happy. At the end of the day, I would never recommend Mid-Maryland.
"I wanted to take the time to respond to this review because Mrs [Member Name Removed] is only providing half truths. Yes I forgot to inform her that the water may have a color and smell after installing the new system, when she called me with the complaint I did inform her what was happening. When you install a softener in a system that has hard water build up in the pipes the newly softened water will clean out the build up. I see this as a mistake on my part about not informing her,but did tell her when she called. When she called about the unit not working we went out. This took several weeks to make our schedules work (not several months). When we arrived at her house the rep took a sample and the water was in fact soft. The factory settings on the softener were changed ( not by me during install) I have never had a unit come from the factory with setting changed. ( not accusing anyone of changing settings but there was an unlicensed "handy man" doing some plumbing in her basement and she informed me they were messing with the softener ) we set the settings back to factory. On demand softeners use salt based on the amount of hardness in the water and usage. None of these things are in my control I did inform her of this prior to installing the system. I did tell her that I would come back and fix or adjust the system if water was not soft. In the text she sent me she told me the unit was making soft water but she was concerned about the salt usage. I informed her that if it was working providing soft water that the settings were correct and changing the settings would not provide soft water.I am not going to change the unit so that it doesn't work correctly."
He finished installing a hot water heater (that he was in the middle of), rented a machine to pull out the well pipe and was to the house by about 3:30! He and an assistant got right to work, pulled the pump and replaced it. He checked the wire and it didn't look like it needed to be replaced so he didn't. They put it all back together and we were back in business very quickly!
I was impressed with James Herrell/Mid-Maryland Plumbing and will definately use him again either on our primary residence or on our rental property.
