I called two contractor to get a price estimate, only this one called be back.  There seems to be a problem with contractor in Hagerstown about calling back for jobs.  The owner was very nice, came to assess the job and gave us an estimate.  We were going to try to do the job ourselves, but at this point I just wanted the bathroom done and hiring a professional was easier.  The tile was already picked out.  He told us we needed to purchase the grout we wanted him to use and he would provide everything else.  He also offered to cut and replace the floor molding for us, which was great because we didn't have a miter saw.  He also stated he wanted to reset the toilet to make sure there weren't any leaks prior to leaving once the job was done.  He arrived on time and was able to finish the job in the time he told us.  The job looks great, but I have some issues with the work.  1) He either reset the toilet on the wrong size wax ring to the tile sunk which give the toilet a slight lean forward.  If you're not looking or feeling for it you wouldn't know.  2) Months later I've noted the grout around the toilet is slightly darker than the grout in the rest of the room.  I think there is a slight leak, no enough to cause puddles or standing water, but still.  I plan to hire a plumber to fix this and other things in the house unrelated to the tile work.  3) Just don't let him to do the molding.  He did it at the end of the day and I think was getting frustrated with the whole thing.  It's a bit sloppy and I've had to go back and touch up a few places.  4) After it was safe to walk on the tile I noticed there were several areas where he left grout and mortar splashed on the walls.  I had to go back over the freshly painted walls with a damp cloth to clean everything up and touch up anything that didn't wipe off.  5)  The floor was very uneven.  He was going to use a leveling agent (standard practice).  I told him the walls from the bathroom to the laundry room were open and would flow through.  I told him I didn't want anything sticking to the leveling agent in the next room, or really any leveling agent in the laundry room.  He didn't listen, waved me off, and now I have a large area in the laundry room covered in leveling agent.  With that I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but also realize I'm not a professional.

We faced a disaster when our "contractor" remodeled our bathroom and incorrectly started all the tile work in the shower, on the floors, and on the walls. Tom came in to look, and being very professional, explained that he could fix it all (including the awful mess of mortar and concrete that had been left all over our italian marble shower floors and bathroom floors). Tom was punctual each morning and worked throughout the day. He and his assistant were very neat and cleaned up at the end of each day. Moreover, he was responsive to our concerns as far as design aspects. I wish we had known about Tom when we started this job because we never would have faced the horrors that we had.

He was quick and gave me a free estimate. Said he could do the work in one day and it was done in one day. I feel what he did the quality of the work was done great and feel his prices were good. Would definately use him in the furture.
