Hagerstown Kitchens

The product and customer service here is horrendous. I saw their cabinets in a showroom and wished to support a local business. HUGE mistake. The cabinets I received had joints that didn’t fit together cleanly and the paint covering them was completely uneven and hideous. I spoke with David in their customer service department because I can’t believe they let a product like this off their floor. I was told by him that he wouldn’t talk about my order with me the customer because he doesn’t have a contract with me. I’m hoping my contractor has better luck but anyone that won’t communicate about their product with a consumer and ultimately dismisses them is not someone I would recommend.

A Horrorshow. HK completed a kitchen design for my family. When we went to ratify the contract, despite being a business with a retail showroom, and despite me mentioning during the design consultations that I would not require financing for the job because I had a low interest credit card, HK tried to convince me that they wouldn't accept my credit card as payment. When pressed, they did. HK no longer does their own installation work -- they want customers to contract for the work independently. I contacted two experienced contractors to provide estimates to install the cabinets -- both stated that the cabinets in the drawing could not be successfully installed in out kitchen owing to errors in both the dimensions and placement shown in the drawings. When I contacted HK to come and review that feedback and correct it, their first response was a full-on refusal. Essentially they tried to blame my family for signing off on a deficient design -- they weren't standing behind their work and they didn't want to. After pushing them on it, they sent two designers to my home to review the contractor feedback -- upon review they admitted the installers were right. They agreed to fix the design and move forward. After we suggested that their customer service skills might be deficient, the more senior of the two designers essentially flipped out, made some regrettable statements that are absolutely not acceptable in any customer service business, and then unilaterally voided our signed contract -- on which they had a 1/3 deposit. HK did refund that deposit promptly. I have never engaged with a business whose customer service was so deficient as Hagerstown Kitchens. Between blaming us for their mistakes and having to be forced into making good on them, I feel that them voiding their contract was the best outcome possible. If HK wouldn't respond to customer needs before a single cut was made, imagine what we would of had to go through if a completed cabinet hadn't been correct. Kitchen renovation projects are expensive, stressful, and you only get one chance to get things right. You deserve to do business with someone that respects your requirements, requests, and is 100% committed to standing behind their work. Hagerstown Kitchens is not that business.

They were recommended by a contractor for our small galley kitchen. Rick came out and gave some GREAT advice on what to do and what not to do. Gave us ideas on how not to waste our money. We had literally gone around the beltway to find someone who would take the time to listen to our needs and give advice without being pressured into buying something we didn't need. We ended up with HK as they had in my opinion  the best looking natural cherry cabinets. The wood just seemed richer and more real than the other showrooms we visited. I originally thought I would want painted cabinets but once I saw the display in the showroom  I changed my mind. Rick was patient as we chopped and changed but in the end it came right. Before we signed the contract he went over each cabinet in detail. Their lead time is 8 weeks so plan accordingly but well worth the wait. Check only for payment too.Delivery was made as scheduled. They look amazing and we can't wait to see them installed. I will post some pictures when the kitchen is complete.

Hagerstown is out of the way for folks in DC but you should visit it before making a decision that you have to live with for a while!

We worked with a girl named Paula.  She was very good and did a nice job of listening to us.  The work was outstanding and the quality is better than a lot of the top brand names that you hear out there.   They were a few weeks behind schedule when they actually got out to do that work.
