Culligan Water Conditioning of Hagerstown MD

Installation was awful. They wanted to charge me for anything and everything. Then slat delivery was supposed to be regular, but I had to insist on delivery when I ran out. When they did deliver, they left dozens of empty salt bags strewn all over and tore up the vapor barrier in my crawl space so badly that that it has to be replaced. I called to complain. The manager told me to find another service. Culligan wouldn't serve me any more.

In January I paid $294 for service that included "preventative maintenance" for my Culligan water softener system. Two months later I noticed that the system was leaking. I was required to pay $75 for a maintenance call because the company's warranty extends for only 30 days. On the follow-up call, the  technician cleaned and lubricated an "O" ring on one of the canisters. This took ten minutes. He was courteous, if baffled. He apologized for the service charge, but he has no capacity to do anything about it.
My primary disappointment is in the quality of the initial service. I would expect cleaning and lubricating a seal would be included in "preventive maintenance."  
My secondary disappointment is with a company policy that doesn't guarantee the quality of its service for more than 30 days. Any of the many contractors I use would address a minor failure at no cost for six months, if not longer.
Culligan is a proprietary system; to the best of my knowledge it can only be serviced by Culligan. That's the only reason I said that I'd use this provider again.

Tim called prior to getting to the house and arrived about 30 minutes later.  It was raining so he requested to go through the garage since it was closer to the utility room and he wouldn't track water through the house.
He was very professional and removed the 27 year old system and replaced with a new water softener system.  He showed me how it worked, cleaned up the water on the floor before he left and everything works fine.  In a week or so Ron will come out and test the water again to ensure it is doing what it is supposed to do.  There were no surprises or increase in charges.  So far I am very pleased.

The salesman came and explained the system and the cost. It took quite a while for the estimation but they got it done and did a good job. They did have a couple of different people in and out doing the job.
