On May 6th, when the company's technician installed the system it appeared to be working fine. I had recently purchase this home (end of March) and it did not have a security system - so this was a brand new install. After purchasing the home, I put new locks on all of the doors. After the system was installed I came home several times to find items missing from the house, and the alarm keypad open. I reported it and Atlantic Security sent technicians out to perform a complete system test (motion detectors, door contacts, etc.) Everything seemed to be working fine.
The next week, or so, I had another instance where someone had been in the home. I called Atlantic Security and spoke with one of the representatives, asking them to remove any delays (Atl. & Honeywell) on the system - so that it could only be activated/deactivated with the remote - not the keypad. She called me back later in the afternoon - said she had done so, and for me to go home and test the system that evening with the monitoring station, not using the remote, to make sure that the changes were indeed in place.
When I opened the frotn door, instead of the alarm going off (as it should have since the delays had been removed) it was in Ready mode. I called the Monitoring Station and we performed a complete system test, and.4 of the 5 motion detectors were not working, at all. The contacts on the doors had a extended delays before signaling the monitoring station that the system had been breached. The signaling should have been immediate. The monitoring station confirmed this.
The monitoring station gave me the contact information for Atl. Security's on-call technician for that night. When I phoned him, he said that if he came out he would charge me $150.00 for the trip (which was the first I had heard of a trip charge to repair a broken system) and that he couldn't say that he would be able to fix anything if he came out, and that he didn't have any motion detectors in stock to replace the bad ones installed in my home (which were only 6 weeks old).
I emailed and called their offices the next day, with no response. I finally got the President of the company on the phonelater and he denied the system's failure. He also denied that I spoke with anyone from his company (so who did I speak to? the monitoring station says it was the Atl. Security technician).
When I checked back with the monitoring station a week or so later, they said that their report showed that the company President performed a complete test on my system 2 days after I reported the failure. That is impossible --- he couldn't have performed a complete test - I was not at home, but at work - he could not have been in my house - there was no one there (and someone would have to be in the house in order for a complete test to be done - motion detectors couldn't have been tested without someone providing motion). Not to mention that no one called and scheduled an appointment to come out, at all. In fact, they continue to deny that anything was wrong with the system.
I finally had to disconnect the system myself. I have paid them in full for a system that does not work. My attorney tells me that this is not uncommon, unfortunately I must agree with her.
Honeywell has always been a trusted name in security equipment. This company is a rip-off. Do not use them
