I think they are trustworthy. They won't pad the bill or anything. I have used them for years. Their pricing is usually very fair. My son called and made an appointment and then took it.

I've been to them many times. I probably have been to them at least 10 different occasions for little marks on my car. I have an older car and little things give up on it.

We've been to them many times and they've been excellent. The price is always good. I'm going to use them forever. They're very courteous, they point everything out to you. They don't try to rip you off, like most people. My driver seat broke. I went to another company and they wanted to charge me $125 to fix my seat. I went to Fred's and they said, "you just had a wire that broke, but I have plenty of that wire laying around". He charged me $5.00 to fix it. They give you good service and they don't try to cheat you.

Wonderful, always, always wonderful. There is one guy that we have for 25 years. They trust each other. I have nothing but glorious things to say about them. Over the years we have become like friends, genuinely caring.

Once again, the team at Fred's came through when I needed it. I give them my highest recommendation. I have worked on my own vehicles for 50 yrs, but when I am in a situation where I need a dependable resource to go to and get the job done for me, or to figure out a problem that I can't, the team at Fred's Garage are my go to guys.

My daughter’s car recently had major power steering problems, and she took it in to the manufacturer dealer. Their diagnosis was that the power steering cooler needed to be replaced at a cost of $1100.00. She couldn’t afford that much, so the car was sitting on their lot waiting for a decision from her on what to do. In the meantime, she was having to use public transportation to get to work, which was a 3 hour commute one way. When I found this out, I immediately recommended Fred’s Garage, but, because her husband had had bad experiences previously with independent repair shops, he insisted that it stay at the dealer. I went to Fred’s Garage and spoke to Rodney and explained the situation to him and asked if he could possibly repair her car at a lower cost. He said that he was confident that he could do so, but couldn’t give an accurate estimate until he actually saw the car and checked it over. Since I had had work done there
previously and was very impressed with the quality of their work and professionalism, I talked to my daughter and got her to convince her husband to allow me to get her car out of the dealership and to Fred’s Garage for them to look it over and give a second opinion, if nothing else. Rodney looked it over and explained to me how he could do an “end run around” and bypass the cooler by reverting the tubing to an “old school” configuration, with high confidence that it would last in the long term, and at a fraction of the cost that the dealer asked for. I agreed with his diagnosis (I work on my own vehicles and I know auto service, but in certain situations I can depend on the guys at
Fred’s to get a job done and the car back on the road quicker than I can), so I ran this by my daughter and asked if she could afford the ballpark estimate that Rodney quoted, and could I give him the go ahead. She replied in the affirmative, I relayed this to Rodney, and he said he would get to it A.S.A.P. Rodney was aware of my concerns to get my daughter’s car back to her soonest because of her commute time and also her limited funds. The car was done the next day, I approved of how it was done, and got it to my daughter in time for her to drive it home. It’s been a few days, I told her to check the repair frequently for the time being, and she has said it’s perfect, just
like new. I have nothing but the highest praise for Fred’s Garage and everyone there and am so glad to be in the same neighborhood with them (I live just down the road).

He is great. Last month something did not sound right on our Volkswagen and he checked on everything and did not found anything wrong. He just tightened something on the car and he did not charge us anything for it.

On March 3, 2011, at 12:30 pm, I was on my way to work when I heard noise from the engine and pulled over to find that a drive belt pulley had broken on my 1999 Saturn SL2 sedan. I used Angie's List to find Fred's Garage, and at app. 1:30 pm spoke to Manny and Dave, explained my problem, and asked if they could fix it (since Saturns are no longer being made, parts and service are limited). They said sure, no problem, and suggested that I may want to replace the drive belt at the same time, which I had already considered asking them to do, since it had 160K miles on it. I asked for a "ballpark" estimate so I would know how to pay for it, and was initially told that the total for parts and labor would be app. $300.00. I gave them the "go ahead", and they ordered the parts as I was speaking to them. As to when they could do the work, since it was the beginning of my work week, and being a Thursday, I was concerned about how soon my "work transportation" could be repaired, understanding that I had come into their schedule off the street and they had commitments to other work before me. Their answer was that they expected the parts by the end of business that day, and if they made their expected progress on current jobs, the earliest possibility could be the next day, Friday, March 4, 2011, or if not, then Monday, March 7, 2011. As it actually turned out, just before I was ready to leave for work at 12:30 pm the next day on Friday, I called them for status on my car, and was told the work was just completed, and that I could pick up my car. It also turned out that based on the information that I gave them, they ordered the wrong pulley, and when they discovered the mistake, ordered the right part which was much less in cost, got it in time, got it done it time for me to use it for work transportation, and the cost was $178.00 instead of $300.00 due to the difference in cost between the two pulleys. Now for my opinion on their service. I am 64 years old, and have been working on cars and trucks since I was 12 years old, so I have a LOT of experience in this field. Unfortunately, because I do all my own maintenance, when it rarely comes to something that is beyond my expertise, time(since I still need to work at my regular job which doesn't involve auto service), or tools, I don't have a connection to auto services. And, in the past, when I have been forced by circumstance to go to so-called professionals (dealers included) for auto service, I have had to afterward do "damage control" because they didn't do the repair properly. I could of done this repair myself, but it would have taken me longer, and my vehicle would have been out of service for a longer period, and the parts would have cost me more. This instance is one of the very few times that I needed service by professionals quickly, and it was done right, at minimal cost, and with minimal lost vehicle usage time. IMHO (In my own humble opinion), these guys rock in auto service, and I will most definitely return to them for future auto needs. I highly recommend Manny and Dave at Fred's Garage at 5304 Dogwood Rd., Woodlawn(Baltimore), Maryland, 21207, 410-944-7788 ([email protected]) with the highest kudos.

Rodney was great! When I dropped my car off, I didn't have a ride, so Rodney drove me to a local eatery to wait for a friend to come pick me up. He called me a couple of hours later to let me know what the problem with my car was and gave me an estimate. I have a 13-year-old Saturn and finding parts is getting more difficult. My car was fixed by 4:30pm that same afternoon, and the final cost was very close to the estimate. My car is running great and I will take it to Fred's Garage when it needs future repairs.

The service is very good. One time I replaced a timing belt and when I was close to home the car started to make a loud squeaking noise. This was a Friday and the garage had closed. I called on Monday and explained the problem. There was a smell like metal scraping against metal and I was afraid to drive the car. Monday was a work holiday for me so I was OK without the car. They came and towed my car and checked it out and did some adjustments and drove the car back to my house without charging me anything.

I like going there because they are honest. They do great work and they will look for ways to save you money. What is really important to a lot of people that I have referred is that they will give you a second opinion and many times you will find you don't really need a repair that other places said you did. Often times they will just suggest a tweek here or there that will only cost you a fraction of what the first mechanic told you. If I could give them an A+ across the board, I would.

When I took my car in for a recall notice the dealer indicated that I needed a new belt. Since we always use Fred's for maintenance we took it to them for a second opinion. They said the belt was fine (no cracks as we had been told), but a seal had to be replaced. We made an appointment, Rodney ordered the part, we dropped the car off and picked it up several hours later. We were told that this part might become subject to a recall and were told to hold onto the original part.

Fred's is one of those places you can take your car and know that they have your best interests at heart and the work will be completely professionally and for a very reasonable cost. We had taken the car to a dealership and they wanted close to $1200 for what Fred's completed for $203. We are customers for life.
