Excellent job!

I called Tom Dunphy and told him I was interested in having my wing chair & ottoman slipcovered. He  advised me that he had recently relocated to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, which is a quite a distance from Germantown, in north west Montgomery county where I lived, yet did not refuse the job.
  He quoted a price of $250 for the chair and $125 for the ottoman, not including the cost of fabric, which I needed to purchase ,there would also be a  surcharge of $100, because of the distance. 
 Tom said once I had purchased my fabric, to call him , and make an appointment for him to come to my home,  where he would cut and pin the fabric to the chair & ottoman.  I was also given a list of online fabric company's that sold designer fabric at discounted prices. I was instructed to purchase 12 yards of fabric, I found a great fabric, and was able to purchase a bolt of 14 yds for $65.00.
    Tom came out to my home approx 2 weeks later, and cut and pinned the fabric to the chair & ottoman.  Today, about 4 weeks later he returned with the finished slipcovers, and installed the covers on the chair & ottoman. They look great, just what I wanted.
     This whole process was so simple, no stress nor strain.  Tom is very friendly, and knows his business.  I will not only use Tom Dunphy again, but I recommend  to all others not to use places where you must take endless pictures, draw outlines of your pieces and also give endless measurements hoping they understand.  Also why hassle trying to fit your furniture in the car, and wonder when you will get them back.  This is the only way to have this done, and at a great price, and without any worry.

Tom delivered exactly as described in his web site. The wholesale fabric companies he gave me were excellent and the one we used in Miss (wholesale fabrics. com) offered both excellent service and cost.
The finished covers fit and finish is excellent and we would both recommend and use Tom again.

We phoned Tom Dunphy for his advice, then ordered fabric and welting for our six-cushion sofa from a supplier online.  Once the materials had been delivered to us, Tom-- who has been making slipcovers and only slipcovers for decades--personally visited our home and measured for slipcovers.  Three weeks later, as promised, he delivered and fitted the finished slipcovers.
We found Tom delightful to deal with.  He's fully professional.  Despite Tom's reasonable pricing, his work is high quality.  His slipcovers precisely fit our sofa and cushions.  The complicated patterns in the fabric we chose all match and flow seamlessly.   We recommend Tom without reservations and would use him again in a flash.

We have 2 couches in our living room that we love but were long overdue for new slipcovers.  After calling a few places that wanted us to bring the couches to their shop, we found Tom Dunphy on Angie's List and gave him a call.  We had a nice conversation and he gave me some ideas for the fabric and cost range, which proved to be very useful and I got a great deal at one of the fabric web sites he suggested.  Over the phone he estimated a minimum of $475 labor per sofa, which was reasonable based on my shopping.  On the day of the first appointment (for which he arrived on time) he looked over the fabric, asked me some questions about my preferences and got to work cutting and measuring.  With the 2 hour time frame had has estimated for this part, he was ready to take the fabric out to be finished.  A few weeks later, he called to make an appointment to bring the finished slipcovers.  I was on a tight schedule the day of delivery but Tom arrived a few minutes early to help me stay on schedule.  He installed the slipcovers and they look great.  He had put attention into cutting the fabric so the pattern aligns nicely and the slipcover and cushion covers fit perfectly.  Our couches are very long and they each have 8 cushions so this was not an easy job.  He used corded seams at all the edges and the cushions have a corded seam and a hidden zipper.  We are really happy with the results and Tom was a pleasure to work with.

Tom is a model of courtesy and professionalism. Some people you just feel you can trust right away, and Tom is one of those people; five minutes with him and you know he is 'good people.' Tom was here to take chair measurements within a week of being called, took the measurements carefully, and returned a couple of weeks later with the finished products which he installed promptly. It's given a new look to our family room, and we recommend Tom Dunphy without reservations of any kind. Tom is very competent at what he does, and he delivers a lot of value too.

The guy is excellent. His prices are so excellent and work is unbelievable. He charged $500 for the sofa and $250 each for the chairs. He also made some cushions for me. He makes slipcovers. He comes to your home and measures the item. Then he comes back two weeks later, puts on the slipcovers and they are perfect. He is unbelievably economical. You have to purchase the fabric yourself. I wish I had more stuff to upholster but I would hire him again if needed.
