Boats
Boat was commissioned in late April 2014. The generator did not work. After several weeks, provider stated that the generator was damaged and either needed to be repaired (~$5,000.00) or replaced (~ $9,000.00). By the time all was said and done - the final bill was $11,590.00.
Throughout this process, it was discovered that the provider did not load test the generator the way it should have been - apparently due to weather/time of year. However, the owner swears that testing was done. The final bill was padded with additional labor, forklift time and parts. Not once has this provider given an estimate which turned out to be the amount they estimated.
After the new generator was installed, we discovered an additional problems with the boat. The issues were evaluated by a marine service company and the end result was - most were created as a result of the generator install such as: blown circuit board in power junction box controlling safety systems on the boat (navigation lights, anchor lights, horn, anchor, etc), modification to the hatch lift system where they did not bother to put the safety bolts and cotter pins on either side of the hatch, and an apparent adjustment to the parameters of the brand new generator that has caused it not to run properly.
Note 1: I requested to take "my" boat for test drive to ensure everything was in proper working order before payment & Harrison's refused.
Note 2. There were some positives with respect to the provider's staff - however, the owner's behavior and unwillingness to accept responsibility for work not done or not done properly.
Note 3. Upon further inspection we have also found that some service items that were conditions of sale were not actually repaired.
As it stands today, nearly everything Harrison Yacht Sales has been notified by certified letter and by the Better Business Bureau; Harrison's has not responded to either.
I offer to anyone that might find themselves in a position where they have to consider using Harrison Yacht Sales to seriously weigh their options - there are other marinas within 5 minutes that provide full services.
