I had a designer draw up a plan for our master bathroom.  Alan came by to see the space and walked through the plan with us, asking us questions, clarifying things, etc.  He then provided us an estimate for the job.  Alan's quote is line by line--so it is very easy to understand where your money is going.  We were happy with the quote and decided to proceed/get on Alan's schedule.  
During construction Alan and his team came to the house promptly...often before we left for work so that we could touch base.  They did a great job of keeping the area neat during the project and doing their best to minimize drywall dust.  The quality of workmanship is just outstanding.  Alan and his team are very professional and did a wonderful job.  I absolutely love my new master bathroom.  

The Shearin team had many obstacles to overcome, none of which were caused by them.  The numerous screws in the concrete subfloor were difficult to remove, as many were stripped and had to be cut to maintain the integrity of the flooring.  In order to satisfy my request for 36" cabinets, the Contractor not only had to move all the plumbing in the soffits, but also remove the toilet upstairs to re-route the pipes.  In addition, they had to scrape and smooth the entire ceiling to avoid adding sheetrock.  The hardwood floors that I ordered came in red instead of butterscotch.  Normally, this mistake would delay the entire kitchen since the hardwoods are installed under the cabinets.  But, in order to keep the granite template appointment, Shearin Construction creatively assembled the island so the granite company could template, then disassembled the island to install the flooring, then reassembled the island prior  to delivery of the granite.  They showed creativity again and commitment to schedule when the upper kitchen cabinet was delivered with a defect.  Instead of returning the cabinet and thereby delaying the renovation several weeks, they installed the cabinet upside down in order to hide the defect against the wall.  What a brilliant accommodation! 

Aside from the major issues that came up, there were also several unforeseen problems such as replacing the existing crooked molding under the kitchen window, fixing the refrigerator door, scheduling a second visit to install the correct pendant lights (I had ordered the wrong type) and changing the electrical outlet to non-GFI to maintain the warranty on the microwave.  I appreciated their professionalism, timeliness and attention to detail.

In just 2 1/2 weeks, Shearin Construction was able to transform my small, dark kitchen with oak cabinets, laminate countertops and soffits to an expansive, light and bright, gourmet-island kitchen that is made for entertaining.  My new kitchen looks phenomenal, thanks to Alan Shearin and his team!
