I now have a new auto mechanic and will use them every time my vehicle requires servicing. I have also recommended them to friends and family.
Thanks so much!
I took my car to Self Service Auto Repair because it had been vibrating when the brakes were pressed hard. They replaced the front brake disks. After I got the car back, it was still vibrating a little bit but now continuously as I drove. As time passed, the vibrating got worse. I took the car back and was told the wheels needed to be balanced, so I took the car to another company that had my tires warranted for that. This company told me that the one of wheels lugs had been cross-threaded when the disks were replaced. When I returned to Self Service Auto Service, I apparently did not explain this well and they thought I was saying the other company had stripped the lug and I had brought the car back for them to repair, so I was charged for the repair.
I have since spoken with them and we now understand each other. I was given a refund and I am now happy with the service and will continue to use them in the future.
These guys were friendly, courteous, prompt, professional and most importantly honest. They found my passenger side wiper blade needed replacing, which is okay since I changed my driver side a month ago. If they had said both, then I would have been suspicious. The only other thing I have to do is remove my window tint, which is a state law not a mechanical thing so I can't fault them for that. Though I really don't like Maryland for making me take off my tint when it was nearly 100 degrees out today.
So based on that I then took my 98 Toyota truck in. I knew the truck was in great shape, but a 15 year old truck could give someone a chance to claim something that maybe wasn't really there. When they finished with it, it only needed both wipers replaced. I bought the wipers at their station, cheaper than Pep Boys, put them on myself and passed inspection.
This place is honest and quick to provide service, and all three people that I met there today were friendly and courteous. I still don't like being forced to have my vehicles inspected and my tint removed, but that's a state thing. Self Service Auto just earned my business for the rest of my time in Maryland.
getting my front brake pads replaced because of a few quotes I had received that were insane. I was
planning on doing the work myself but I haven't had the time. Today I
looked Self service auto repair up on Angie's list and was
pleasantly surprised. They have great ratings for a reason.
I had a cancellation on an assignment and ran in since I had a break in my day. they
had me in and out of their shop within an hour. I have been to other shops who have tried to take
advantage of me and attempted to sell me services I did not need. These guys
were very honest. I will definitely go back again! thanks guys!I
