I should have known better. I hired Magothy for what I thought would be a quick fix. I had several other projects going on in preparation to move so I didn't bother trying to fix myself. The visit fee is annoying, but pretty standard. I then was told I would need to pay $700 just for the diagnosis. I felt forced since the guy was already in my house and I needed it done ASAP. I was then quoted $4k+ for the actual fix which was ridiculous. I declined but couldn't get out of the $700 diagnosis fee. I hired a local electrician who quoted me $1k, then went out of their way to deduct it even more after finding a more efficient solution. It all got fixed for nearly a fifth of the price that I was given by Magothy. I should have known better.

Dan and Isaac did an excellent job. They reviewed problem, clearly explained the necessary steps to correct the identified issue and quoted me the cost, which was not expensive at all.

Exceptional customer service from the scheduling of the appointment to the departure of the electrician. They did exactly what I needed in a timely manner and also cleaned up after themselves. Very knowledgeable group of electricians!!

Great service, we had lots of work that needed to be done to make an old 1950’s house safe and up-to-date. Magothy team was thorough, on time, great to work with, and very professional. All work was explained for our 4+ visits. They will be our go to team for any future electrical needs. Magothy office team (thanks Becky) worked with us to get all needed inspections. Always kept us informed all along the way!!!

The job went very well. The electricians knew what needed to be done and did an excellent job. They switched out the old smoke detectors for some new without any problems. I would recommend Magothy Electric to anyone needing any electrical work done no matter how big or small the job.

Outstanding they all the best easy to make appointments. Always on time , work always to completed to the highest quality. Never forget to clean up to make work area look like it was before.

I cannot say enough good things about Magothy Electric. They have achieved a rare blend of local, personalized customer relations with advanced technology, effectiveness and efficiency. All went well and there were no issues or problems

Bought a house from a couple who either hired very bad electricians, or did their own electrical work. Either option was the wrong one. Luckily we had a very good home inspector and none of the following was a surprise to us. Through a few visits we've had Magothy, specifically, Rodney; 1. replace the wiring in our attic - all the lights and fans were daisy-chained through one circuit - it's no longer a fire hazard 2. rework the main panel that had shared neutrals, one of which was arcing in the box; 3. correctly install a light over the garage (badly installed light had evidence of burning on the wood below); 4. install a 4-prong outlet for a dryer; 5. add a whole-house circuit protector on the electric panel; 6. remove a badly installed 220v outlet that was also daisy chained through the attic lights. We have been impressed with the quality of work, and though I could do a few of the items above myself, given the issues we've already found, I will leave the work to the professionals. On the one occasion we've had a concern after the work completed (ceiling fan no longer operating after attic rewire) Rodney was back out the next day to fix the issue. On the first visit, Rodney came with all the paperwork for Magothy - license, insurance, bond information. On every visit we go through the work, receive the estimate prior to work beginning. Rodney and his assistants/coworkers (Braden and a newly hired electrician who's name I forgot) are on time, professional and personable. As are the office staff. I most often speak with Becky and yes we've had to talk so often that we're on first name basis. After our first visit, we signed up with Magothy for the service plan, and I do not regret this decision. Our next step is the whole house audit, and a plan of action to fix the rest of the problems we know are here.

They were friendly and very efficient. They provided plenty of information including emails on who would be over to do the work.

Estimate cost for outlet $380. Remove/replace a $1.29 light switch was $130. Total cost estimate was over $500. What a rip off. Cost me $39 for service call on Angie's list special.

He confirmed that they weren't working and it would probably have to be rewired- didn't check the fuse box or the switch connections.

Problem corrected. Had to replace the gfci outlet and two other outlets in the circuit.

They contacted me after the purchase I made, and we made an appointment. The appointment time was 12-2pm. The technician called me at 2pm and told me that he would be able to arrive in 45 minutes. This was inconvenient for me, so I cancelled the work.

No problems. Contacted Magothy Electric and set apt. Paul B. gave me a phone call indicating he was on his way and he showed up promptly as scheduled. He provided a little history of the company and provided his insurance and bond information which I very much appreciated. He then conduced an assessment of my needs, provided an estimate which I approved and then proceeded to perform the requested work.

Firm was extremely prompt and reacted to my need which was to have a dining room light by Christmas. Very pleased and highly recommend. Warning: no electric work is cheap!

He did a good job fixing the socket and the other work, but the price was a little high. He volunteered to do extra work for me in relation to my space heater and that was very nice of him. They seem like a good choice for bigger projects than I needed. I would use someone else only because I have smaller jobs.

The two men who came out were very courteous, and showed me their business license and insurance certificates. They used shoe covers and a mat so that they would not track dirt into my house. They offer prompt service, and they are punctual. However, I do think their service is expensive, and they have a service call charge of $69. Overall, though, I would give them an A.

Estimate was quick and professional.  Rodney was helpful. Electricians were on-time, friendly, professional.  All work was completed and we haven't had any problems.
Generally their communication and professionalism was outstanding.

He was on time, very professional and provided honest input for aspects of the job that needed to be done versus those that could wait. Very friendly and appeared to care about the quality of work and the customer service.

Everything went great.
