LITTLE THUMPERS DAYCARE

Martie is approved for 4 "under 2 year old" babies because she supposedly has a certified helper, otherwise by law she could only have 2 babies under 24 months. Martie was charming and welcoming when we met w/ her, and provided great references. She assured me her "helper" was out briefly for a family emergency, an ill elderly mother, and would be back at the daycare by our second week. By week 3 still no helper. My son would cry pitifully when I dropped him off, and crawl desperately toward me at pick up! By pick up time he was always very thirsty and ravenously hungry. On day 5 he came home w/ an unexplained bruise, a black and blue wrist. Twice at pick up time I walked into an unlocked front door to find my son completely alone in the living room/front hallway, not another soul around. Martie, her adult friend and the other kids were in a back bedroom. I did write away to the county for inspection reports. I received them halfway through week 4. Martie has been written up twice before for exceeding the alotted number of infants in her care. She has been written up for structural and safety issues, including storage of FIREARMS! She has been written up for having inappropriate nude photo screen savers on her centrally located computer. She has been written up for having empty beer cans and cigarette butts in the outdoor play area, as well as not maintaining fully locked entry to the above-ground pool. I don't think I need to go on. My son was pulled from her care that day. This woman was a disaster from start to finish. I've been assured I will receive my desposit back. To be continued...
