I initiated this project to improve my house's curb appeal. My kitchen was renovated 10 years ago. The new exterior wall bricks, though a good color match, were slightly smaller than the old, leaving thicker mortar courses between them, and this new mortar was lighter than the old. Also, a section of my driveway was re-poured 5 years ago and this concrete, too, was lighter than the old. So both house and driveway had some unsightly areas.
Provider power-washed my driveway last week, and returned today to stain the driveway and the wall mortar. The driveway stain is a perfect match. (I hope that it will not suffer from tomorrow's predicted rain and snow.) The wall mortar, though not quite a perfect match because of the thicker mortar, is much more presentable than before, and does not need trees and shrubs to hide it. Provider also stained some bricks in these areas, to match the random darker old bricks in surrounding areas.
Don'ts: I had been waiting for Color Match Masonry to do this job since last October, when Isent the deposit. The provider said the work could be done in a few weeks, but kept moving my date back in order to take care of larger customers. Once my work date shifted into December, the number of wet days, and then winter itself, forced the work date to be moved back to March. After last weeks' power wash, I found that the owner had left me and his scheduler with different impressions as to the actual work date. At that point, convinced that Color Match would never come, I contacted Exact Match Masonry Staining. While Exact Match's estimate was twice that of Color Match, it seems a more responsive company and might have done my job much sooner.
Recommendation for Angie's List: I'd like to recommend that Angie's List create a separate provider category for Masonry Staining. Most masonry companies--even masonry repair companies--don't do staining, and it was very hard to find even two companies that do it in my area.

In May 2013 we had a flagstone walkway and stoop with brick risers installed. Unfortunately, there were issues with the project even though we used a highly rated Angie's List landscaper. One of the most visually obvious problems was the brick used for the step risers -- they looked salvaged, had a lot of color variation, and were a very poor match for our home. Luckily Color Match Masonry came to the rescue! Although we were a small project for them, Rob and Jen treated us as if we were as important as their largest one. After two months and a variety of weather, the and quot;stained to matchand quot; bricks still look amazing! I could rave about the phenomenal results for paragraphs, but the before and after pictures just speak for themselves. Needless to say, we are ecstatic. Highest recommendation!
