Work was initiated the day after Thanksgiving. Initial demolition went well. We began to experience problems when moving the plumbing so the shower head was at the opposite wall, after demolition was complete. This was when the walls were down to bare studs, so the work should have been easy. Restudding the wall and building out a partial wall was satisfactory, but in retrospect, was not done properly. Tiling the shower was a complete disaster. Wade (the owner of the company and the only employee we ever saw) did not use spacers between the tiles. He elected instead to use the spare change in his pockets as spacers between tiles for the grout lines, resulting in grout lines that are uneven. Multiple tiles were not flush with the wall, and had to be removed and replaced. Most of these were replaced not with fresh mortar/grout, but with glue. Some had to be replaced multiple times, and are still not flush. Replacement of plumbing fixture on the soaking tub never happened. Plumbing fixtures on the sinks that were replaced were loose. Patching of the walls where the old light fixtures were was not properly sanded nor primed. As a result, the fresh paint was not only put on a wall that was not flat, but also bubbled off the patch. We found Wade to be very unprofessional, arriving between 10 and 11 AM, if he showed up at all, and leaving by 2 PM. The work he performed on our house was of poor quality, and took about 3 times longer than the estimate. The job was never completed as we asked him not to finish, and had to hire a different contractor to fix what he did improperly, and then finish the job. We later found out that Wade's MHIC license expired in Aug 2010, and has not been renewed. We sent him a certified letter with a formal complaint and asked to be reimbursed part of the funds for the job. He never accepted the letter, and it has been returned to us, so we have forwarded the complaint to the MHIC. Update: 05/16/11 - We have been assigned an investigator from MHIC. Update: 05/31/11 - The MHIC inspector was able to tell just from pictures that the tile was poorly done. Restitution is pending.
