AFFORDABLE HARDWOOD FLOORING

Not good. The stain application was terrible. Please see the photos. The photos don't capture the oversanded area that created deep spots or the dented refridgerator.

Tony did outstanding work.  He priced fairly, showed up on time, and was pleasant to be around.

He correctly analyzed the problem of a previously installed finish. 

He then  removed 6 layers of Varathane from a heart pine floor and refinished it with 3 coats of an oil based

polyurethane.

The floor looks beautiful and the problems have been removed.

He came recommended to me by my realtor and I trusted her judgement. He was very courteous and flexible. I felt he was trustworthy in my home and I even gave him a key so he could come and go from the house. His work was good and we felt it was reasonably price.

Tony did not rush his work, working at our home over a three-day period, first cleaning the floors then sanding and finishing them. The floors inside three closets were as professionally sanded/finished as the main floors. Tony put up floor-to-ceiling plastic sheets to prevent wood dust from spreading through the house. Funny thing is, there really wasn't all tha much dust generated; he collected it as he sanded.

Tony showed up at exactly the times he scheduled.starting early in the morning at about 7 a. m. and finishing by about 3 p. m.

Can’t say enough good about Tony and his work. Not only was his work professional and his price reasonable, but he left our home free of wood dust. We trusted him completely. Gladly recommended him to all my family members and friends with homes of their own..

We found them on Angie's List, and they were excellent! They came on time, and they worked quickly and neatly. Also, they cleaned up and worked professionally.

Tony had buffed and polished an entire house of hardwood flooring in a home I was renting. Note that I had been told the floors had been entirely sanded and refinished. While they looked great in almost all of the areas, there were a few areas in the kitchen I thought needed attention- the previous tenant was NOT a clean freak for sure and the kitchen counters had a greasy residue build-up that came off like eraser rubbings when I cleaned it, so I can imagine what state the floors were in when Tony performed the work originally! Tony called and came out within a few days promptly when he said he would to inspect the problem. He explained that a full sanding had not been done on that job, but just a buff and coat of urethane finish. The small areas where urethane hadn't taken right was a risk when sanding hadn't been performed on such a floor. Still, Tony got his gear right then and there and lightly sanded and finished the spots that were becoming an issue. He explained the spots would look a little glossy in those areas for a time and would become more matte over time. They did and you can't really notice any difference at this point.
Tony was courteous, professional, and spent the time to fix the issues in the name of customer satisfaction- meanwhile it was our landlord that had paid him some time ago and he really didn't owe us given the scope of the original job! Although there were a few issues in the kitchen flooring, I was surprised at the quality of the rest of the house given that it was the result of a buff and coat and NOT a full refinishing after all. He does quality work, and I would say you can really tell what a company is like on how they handle their issues! Everyone is happy when there are no issues, but it's a great company that handles their issues really well that sets them apart!

Overall, I was pleased, and would rate a B++.

Two points keep it from a top report. NOTE: similar work had been done on the floors of 2 adjoining rooms by a general home improvements person (which was less than satisfactory, and the person quit in the middle of the contract to take a full time job):

a) The connecting saddle between this floor being refinished and the previously completed adjoining room floor was not very well blended in, causing a dark rough board in a very visible place. I did discuss this by phone with the provider but ended up correcting it myself, by sort of mutual consent.

b) I had told the provider the name of the stain used in the other 2 adjoining rooms which he used. I did not realize, and was not asked, about the type of polyurethane, other than I asked that it was to be clear satin - did not realize that the and quot;sheenand quot; varies between brands. Thus the sheen on the floors of the connecting rooms was different, markedly different. Standing at the edge of the room with both room floors in view, these just refinished floors looked dull in comparison, because of the higher sheen content of the previously completed rooms. Standing in the rooms this provider did, the rooms look great! In fact, I prefer the lower luster, but not the fact that the luster/sheen is so different from the adjoining rooms. And since the previous floors were already done, I would have preferred the higher luster/sheen, just to make the floors appear more uniform.

I understand that it is hard to come in on another provider's work, so while I cannot call it an and quot;Aand quot; job completion, I would not hesitate to call this provider again.

It went very well. Tony was prompt and professional and did a great job. There were a few surprises when the carpet was pulled up -- pet stains and a section of the den that had only plywood). Fortunately in our case Tony was able to sand out the pet stains (not always possible). He also put in new wood flooring in the den where there had been only plywood, and he did a great job making it match the existing den wood floor (original floors from 1958). The only way you can tell there's any difference (and you wouldn't notice unless someone mentioned it) is that the older wood flooring isn't as tight as the new floor (the older flooring has 'character' gaps here and there).

He had a friendly, but serious and professional attitude. He TOTALLY fit his work to my schedule. He showed up on time and even completed the job early. He was clean and considerate, and I would definitely use him again. I was amazed at how hard-working he is. I helped him move some of his VERY heavy equipment, because it was hard to watch him struggle with it all. He is a good guy and even gave me options for pricing. I recommend him highly and would love to hire him again, if needed. If you need an honest and dependable hardworker, then Tony is your guy.

Tony had given me an estimate in January when he finished another job for me, but I wasn't ready at that time. I called him in June because I wanted the job done during a specific week in August and wanted to give him as much notice as possible. He came the same day to re-evaluate the space its measurements, and we agreed he would bring the wood at the end of July and start on Monday, August 3. As agreed, in late July he brought the wood to my house to let it get used to the climate for about a week. On August 3, he arrived as expected, made appropriate progress each day, and finished on schedule on August 7. This is the third time I've used Tony, and I wouldn't hesitate to use his services again or to recommend him. He is thorough, neat, responsible, and most importantly he delivers what he promises. I noticed in another post that Tony wouldn't move furniture for that particular customer. In my experience, if you notify him in advance, Tony will try to make arrangements to bring an assistant to help with furniture moving.

On December 28, I left Tony a voice mail and within the hour he called me back and within 3 hours he was at my home to give me an estimate. He said $650 would cover the repairs and refinishing. We agreed he would do the work on January 5 and 6, which he did. I was able to move back into the kitchen and family room on Wednesday afternoon. I am very satisfied with the entire experience. One thing I really appreciate is Tony's neatness; refinishing floors generates a lot of dust, but Tony's diligence in covering walls and stationary items keeps dust to a minimum.

My experience with them was all A's. They were respopnsive and timely. They were friendly and easy to work wiht. They were knowledgable. i would reommend them and use them again.

Tony did an outstanding job refinishing our kitchen floor after it had been thoroughly botched by a previous contractor. We had him back to refinish our family room and while he was there he put an additional coat of poly on our kitchen floor. I would strongly recommend his work and will hire him for any future jobs.

He was very professional. He was helpful and answered my questions when I asked them. They are very quick at getting the job done. There prices are low and affordable.

Affordable Hardwood Flooring was very reliable, responsible and they did a quality job. They seemed like they were very professional at what they did and I would highly recommend them to others.

It went very well. Tony did an excellent job. I had to pull up the carpeting myself in the other two bedrooms, as Tony advised he does not normally do this as part of his service. After that, Tony took over and did a great job. He was very thorough in his work and answered any questions we had. He did not leave any mess and was finished sooner than his original time estimate. The attention to detail was superb.

I highly recommend Tony Woo -- his bid was very competitive, he rearranged his schedule on short notice in order to fit my job in (and worked both Saturday and Sunday to do it), and he did a fantastic job. My floors look great and he was a pleasure to work with. He promptly returned all phone calls and kept me informed of his progess daily. He finished the job ahead of schedule as well.

The service provided by Mr. Woo was excellent. I called for a free estimate and he came out the next day and was prepared to start the work at my convenience. He and another person did all the work. They arrived on time, cleaned up after themselves, and worked quickly. The whole project took only two days. I would not hesitate to recommend Affordable Hardwood Flooring, or to use them again.

I WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH MY EXPERIENCE. THEY WERE PROMPT TO RETURN PHONE CALLS. VERY EASY TO WORK WITH (I HAD TO RESCHEDULE MY ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO WORK ME IN THE VERY NEXT WEEK). THEY WERE PROMPT AS TO ARRIVAL TIME, AND FINISHED THE JOB ON SCHEDULE. THE 40 YEAR OLD FLOORS CAME OUT LOOKING BETTER THAN I EXPECTED, ALMOST NEW. THEY TOOK CARE TO MAKE SURE DUST FROM THE SANDING DIDN'T GET THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE, AND DID A GREAT JOB OF CLEAN UP. I WILL DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN.
