Dusting: We use a feather duster or vacuum with a soft brush attachment to dust blinds at least once a week.
Spot cleaning: For fabric blinds, we use a mild detergent and avoid harsh chemicals and too much water. For plastic blinds, we try a DIY solution of vinegar and dish soap.
Washing: Some blinds we machine wash, but we should check the manufacturer's instructions first. We can also wash blinds in a bathtub filled with warm water.
Drying: After cleaning, we make sure to completely dry blinds to prevent water spots and damage. We can towel dry each slat individually.
Professional cleaning: For a deeper clean, we consider professional dry cleaning.
Closing the blinds: Close the blinds and tilt the slats so the entire surface is exposed.
Using a microfiber cloth: A dry microfiber cloth can be used to remove dust, and a damp cloth can be used to wipe down the blinds. If you don't have a microfiber cloth, you can use a clean old sock or glove.
