I can only reiterate the many positive Angi reviews discussing the high standard of work produced by Mr. Rashidi and his assistant. Mr. Rashidi was able to begin work one week after providing an estimate and completed the job in four days after working steadily throughout that time. We are more than satisfied with the result and would highly recommend this company. Real craftsmanship at a reasonable price.

Hooshang responded quickly and then slipped me into his schedule so that I could get my stairs done in timing with a larger house renovation that I was getting done. He and his assistant were very good at their work and very pleasant to work with. I was thrilled with the results and would hire him again if I had another staircase to be done.

Without a hitch. The owner Hooshang gave us an initial estimate from a photo then came and gave us a detailed quote. Agreed on a start date and job time. Both done as planned. He and his helper are professional, neat and courteous. Price was in line with other quotes. The workmanship is excellent. You will need to have any drywall repair and staining done by another contractor as Hooshang is the stairmaster.

He did a great job! He takes his time and does it well. The banister is sturdy and beautiful. He was polite and I wish I had another banister so I could work with him again.

Hooshang and Robert were excellent.  The price was very reasonable and much less than a competing offer I received.  During the free estimate, Hooshang immediately knew what I was looking for and provided the estimate quickly and professionally without trying to up-sell me.  Today during the installation, he and Robert arrived promptly and did excellent work.  They were professional, courteous, and the result exceeded my expectations.  They knew their business and finished slightly ahead of schedule while still providing me with all of the information I wanted and needed for future touch-up work.
I whole-heartedly recommend them and their work.  Great price, great work.

Hooshang and his helper did a fantastic job at a reasonable price, and did not raise the price when they encountered some unexpected problems. Hooshang is a true craftsman who takes great pride in his work and wants the customer to be completely satisfied. Hire him. You will not be disappointed.

Hooshang is an incredibly skilled carpenter. He explained to us clearly and accurately what work he would do and what part he would not do, so we knew from the beginning what we were getting for our money. The work took about 3 days total, and it is beautiful--it looks like it has always been a part of the house, blending seamlessly with the parts of the stairs that were not replaced. When, at the end of the project, there was a small gap between the new first step and a wall, he went back and fixed the gap for me in such a way that it's invisible. When I asked, he also replaced one of the new balusters that had a minor nick in it without blinking an eye. Overall, he was very professional and responsive. I would absolutely recommend him to friends and family, and if I needed stair work done in the future, I would be happy to have him do it.

Over 3 days, owner and his assistant replaced all existing wood rails/balusters, and added a new hand rail on the main level stairs. The new balusters, newels, and rails are much tighter than they were before and look very nice. Thanks to the instructions provided, I was able to save money by completing the finishing work myself.

Owner was very nice and professional. Took his time to get the details right. Price and work was very reasonable. We had priced out all the parts at Home Depot to try this ourselves. His price was the same as ours and he included the installation. He did great work. I would definitely recommend.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this company! I contacted them on 10/24/13, spoke with the owner Hooshang (VERY nice gentleman!!) and forwarded photos of my front entry stairs that evening. He came out to my house the next day to give me an estimate. I hired him on the spot, without checking any other company - I liked his demeanor, I found him to be honest and his price was fair. The work began on 11/5, Hooshang and Robert arrived on time during the entire process, and were a pleasure to have in my home. They painstakingly crafted and built the most beautiful stairs using quality materials. No detail was overlooked - I got a lot more for my money than I could have imagined. Hooshang and Robert built and created the stairs together, efficiently assembling and sizing each piece to fit perfectly. Hooshang is a Master Craftsman, in the most traditional sense of the words, and he takes real pride in his product. His assistant Robert is a VERY nice gentleman, he knew his craft and was very efficient and professional.
After the stairs were completed, I DID check on prices with other firms, and would have had to pay thousands more for what I got.
My neighbors are all jealous of my stairs - I have another flight, which I will also have H R replace when they are due. If you want a top notch custom staircase, these are the folks to call. And yes, I found this company on Angie's List - THANK YOU!

Hooshang promptly responded to my online inquiry and asked me to send photos. After doing so, he was able to give me a price range ($2,200-$2,500), depending on the particular components I selected (rod iron balusters would be more than wood, for example). Based on that quote I was interested in pursuing it in more detail, so he stopped by one night at 6 PM, which was after work at my request. He was able to show me samples, brochures and photos to select various components and he had great suggestions regarding what would and would not work well together. I ended up selecting materials that were all on the higher end, and adding in a step that was not part of my original request. Notwithstanding my upgrades, the final price was only $2,700. It's clear that I would have been well within range had I not added on the step -- so his initial estimate was spot on. Hooshang also took great care to warn me about certain details that enabled me to make some really smart choices. For example, the balusters that I selected had to be cut to fit, but the decorative bead was not going to be centered if he cut from the bottom as is normal practice (normally you only cut from the bottom because the top has a rounded end that fits into the rounded hole that's drilled into the bottom of the handrail). Hooshang offered a number of alternatives. I'm so grateful that he mentioned this because I would have been very unhappy with the results if the balusters weren't centered in the end.
The job went very smoothly. Hooshang and his assistant Robert arrived on time each day and worked diligently. They were the consummate professionals. They cleaned up each day and other than the obvious and unavoidable disruption of having your staircase worked on, you wouldn't know that they were there. You could see Hooshang's attention to detail as he worked -- making sure that each and every cut was absolutely perfect. That level of detail really shows in the final product. Not only were Hooshang's recommendations great, but the final product is really a piece of craftsmanship. You don't see many people like Hooshang who take such pride in each detail and deliver a top quality product anymore. I only wish he'd do other carpentry work for me!!
Bottom line: if you need a railing or stairs done -- this is your guy. I could not be happier with the experience or the result.

I have been doing woodworking (furniture building and home remodeling) for over 20 years for my own use, so I am a stickler for details in all things, but especially woodworking projects. I know enough to know when a job is beyond my woodworking abilities—and a curved/bent wood railing system is WAY beyond my abilities. There are many critical engineering factors to make a railing strong and safe, but these things must be hidden because of the aesthetics of a wood railing. Hooshang has a nice portfolio, which clearly demonstrated his skill set. Not only did this portfolio make it clear that he could tackle my relatively simple (to Hooshang) project, it also demonstrated that he has tackled far more complex projects in the past. This put me at ease. Regarding the cost of the job, I had gotten a couple other quotes before meeting with Hooshang, so when he gave me an estimate for my railing, I knew he was making a fair offer. He wasn’t pushy and didn’t try talking me into more expensive options. When he felt I was overlooking something important, he didn’t argue with me, he just pointed out the issue and explained why it might be a problem.
He promptly ordered the parts and worked around my busy schedule so that I could be there on the day that he did the install. I worked alongside Hooshang for the entire installation and was amazed at his attention-to-detail and old-world craftsmanship. When it comes to building stairs and wood railings there is absolutely ZERO room for error, and Hooshang’s work was nothing short of superb. He also demonstrated more flexibility than other contractors. I wanted to make the balusters myself, and the other contractors refused to use homeowner supplied materials (I also did all the painting and staining myself). When he was done, the railing was nothing less than rock solid—not a wiggle or a shake to the entire railing system. He took away an eyesore and in its place created a truly beautiful focal point—as soon as you walk in the front door, this is the first thing you see.
I will admit that I agonize over the project details more than most people since I do similar work, and I found nothing to complain about with this project. Hooshang’s work was superb, his manners and customer service are flawless, and he treats your house better than his own. I will be extending our railing as part of a future remodel, and I plan on having Hooshang back.

Super happy with the work and workmanship! I called during the Thanksgiving holiday, promptly heard back, and Mr. Rashidi came the next week for an estimate. I told him I needed the work completed for the Christmas holiday as family was coming and the existing railings we had were unstable. He came the next week and had it completed in less than 2 days! LOVE IT! It is beautiful.
Mr. Rashidi built exactly what I wanted, showed up when he said he would and didn't have any unexpected charges. If I had anymore to replace (he replaced all we had), I would definitely recommend him.

I received a response the next day. Some people have complained about no response. I phoned earlier in the day, and then followed up that evening by filling out the inquiry form on the website. Hooshang called me the next morning. He asked if I could send photos of the staircase, which I did that evening when I returned from work. He phoned the next morning with an estimate. I liked his approach as it gave me an idea of pricing before he came out to take a look at the job. We said we wanted to proceed with the job and he set up an appointment to finalize the pricing and sign the contract. The price was $20 higher than his phone estimate as there was a small alteration that wasn't visible in pictures, which I felt was perfectly reasonable and understandable. Hooshang arrived exactly on time for this appointment.
He called us the day before he was going to do the work and showed up exactly as promised.
His work is phenomenal. Our old basement stairs are now looking like a staircase! The area was cleaned up after the job was completed. We couldn't be happier with the work. I still have to stain the wood, but his workmanship is outstanding. I can highly recommended Hooshang and HR Stairs.
