The original estimate was for $600. This seemed expensive and we called Mr. Garcia to ask for an explanation of the high estimate. He explained that the balustrade work was complicated and would take quite some time. We asked for some price concession and he agreed to lower his estimate by $50 to $550.
Mr. Garcia and his helper showed up on time on the agreed day. They did a very good job but the whole amount of time needed was under three hours. This amounts to about $92/hour including travel time. For handyman services this is extremely expensive.
We woudl have been much more satisfied if Mr. Garcia woudl have offered an hourly rate for his services and in fact, looking back, we should have negotiated an hourly rate. That would be our advice to anyone considering this company. Otherwise they were professional, on time, and did good work.
