Would NOT recommend this company. Workers were scheduled to be at my house on Wednesday at 7:00 AM. Did not show up until Thursday at 2:00 PM. No phone call from the company; had to call them. Have waited patiently for five weeks for the owner to return but unreachable. Lots of excuses from his office -- too busy, not scheduling this week, two children ... With all of the concrete companies on Angie's List, keep looking. Not worth it. Update as of 8/17/2021: This company still has not returned to my property to follow-up on multiple calls for service. I had my front walkway replaced, and I paid for the work. However, I called many times for someone from the company to return because I had some concerns. Never had time to schedule an appointment. Had many excuses. Too busy....

Would like to give CMS our highest recommendation! They have been absolutely wonderful to deal with and are dedicated to the customer's satisfaction. The story: We needed to replace our existing concrete walkway and asphalt driveway, but were not sure whether to go with just concrete and asphalt, or upgrade to either pavers or flagstone. We had several contractors come out and give us quotes. In the end, we decided to have the concrete walkway replaced with flagstone, and the asphalt driveway replaced with concrete. A major factor in choosing CMS was that their price for the walkway was the same, whether we used pavers or flagstones. They were not the least expensive bid we got, and also not the most expensive one. What really moved us to choose them was the responsiveness to the many questions we asked, and how complete and detailed their written proposal was. Once work started, they were very punctual. The crews were very professional, and always cleaned up the work at the end of the day. Despite the amount of rain we received, project was finished only two days late. A crew came out on Saturday to do the final details and clean-up. Another major plus was how accommodating they were in dealing with a problem I found after completion of the work... accepted responsibility and adjusted the bill accordingly. All the workers were totally professional. Francisco, who did the stone work, is a real expert and artist. The project manager, Ederson, was terrific. He is an expert on all aspects of the job and was always on top of all the work and ready to explain anything when asked. Only negative: They work pretty much on a COD basis and only accept payment by check. Well, you can pay by credit card but they charge a hefty fee to do so (I believe it was 7%, but not sure.) I would have preferred to pay with a credit card but was not willing to pay the fee, so needed to juggle money between savings and checking. It would be a lot more convenient if I could have used a credit card!

We contracted Eder and his team to do a concrete stamped patio and a retaining wall. Overall, we have been very happy with the work. The planning and negotiating period was stress free. Eder's team answered all our questions for us and gave us a competitive price. It was price sensitive, and I appreciated their flexibility in giving me a discount when i let them use a bobcat to make the work go faster. I agreed to repair the grass myself. They were so professional that they ended up giving me a hand with it anyway. Work was started and completed on time. Eder was always quick to follow up on my questions before, during, and after the job was done. Highly recommend them for your concrete needs!

After phoning in, the next contact was by email in which I sent photos and described the project. I received a preliminary estimate and then spoke to the Project Manager about the details. Their price was much better than another estimate and I moved forward. The PM met me on site the day before work began and we discussed the project. For the replacement driveway, a wooden fence needed to be temporarily removed and that went fine. There were drainage problems due to the age of the old driveway and that was addressed. The crew arrived at 7 am and worked until sunset the first day. The next day was a Saturday and they returned to finish the driveway and to finish the second job which involved moving an 80 year old playhouse to a new pad. While not a landmark, it had sentimental value to the neighborhood as it had been built in the 1930s by one of the original families. They had a lot of good ideas and suggestions and I would recommend them for concrete and stone work.

Getting a firm commitment from the office staff could be a little challenging at times, but given that this and most of the work this company does is weather-dependent, that's somewhat understandable. Once the work was started, the work ethic of the employees was absolutely first rate. My steps and stoop were completely demolished and replaced with newly poured concrete. The masonry work was also absolutely top-notch. Matching 50 year old brick is next to impossible but they found brick that comes as close as possible and the end result was an absolutely fantastic look.

The walkway looks fantastic! We selected the color of the pavers and the crew laid them in a beautiful pattern. They even made the sidewalk curve a bit more to look very appealing. The project was completed in a timely fashion. The person who came to the house to discuss the project was very knowledgeable.

The only problem we had was with the need to have a permit to have this work done. I had to make several trips to downtown dc to get the required permit.

I signed the contract in early July. After you hire them, they have to go get a permit and it takes awhile to get the permit approved. I think they got back in August sometime. I was working with them and giving them the responses and stuff, and they were working with the building permit department. They were working in July on it, but they couldn't finish it until they got permission from Montgomery County to do it..They were hanging around our house on the driveway for a long time. They had to do stuff and meet deadlines with Montgomery County, so I dealt with a lot of their people on a daily basis. Also, there was a drainage issue later. They came back and broke a piece of concrete out and replaced it. I dealt with them a lot and they were just very excellent to deal with. No complaints. They did what we wanted them to do. They were excellent. They were fantastic, easy to deal with. The price was good. No surprises or anything. They were wonderful. They didn't finish until August because of all of the permits and everything. They probably didn't start for two, three or four weeks. They had to get the inspector to come out from the County. I recommended them to a friend. I'm sure somebody else in the neighborhood has used them because they walked by and saw the work and talked to me. I think a week or so later they were working around the corner somewhere.

From the first call to Concrete Master Solutions to the estimating procedure to booking a date for the project to the end result- first class all the way! I was so impressed with Max Silva who provided the estimate, that I didn't bother with following up with competitive bids. Also, Max and his team took care of dealing with Montgomery County to procure the permit which was a burden off my back. The crew that completed the project finished in three days and were top notch!

They came back to do some extra caulking for me that wasn't in the original project which was really nice. They just did it because it needed doing. It took them two days to do it.
What surprised me was not only how nice the driveway was, but they put absolutely everything back. They put the sod back in place. They brought mulch and put the garden edging back in place. Everything looked like it hadn't been touched at all. Even their contract says that they don't do garden work and everything, and I wouldn't have expected them to, but they actually did bring mulch which was really, really, surprising. The sod that they put back doesn't look terrific, but that's just because it needs more water and it needs to kind of grow back again. Otherwise, that's beyond their control because it had to sit in the hot sun until they got done.
They have an assistant project manager who emails you about when they are going to come and what they project will involve. They answer any questions that you may have, which is very nice because you always have somebody that you can contact if you have a question.
The driveway is absolutely beautiful. We have had many comments on it. Even the plumber wanted to know who did it because he said it looked really good. He said to do something like that in this kind of heat is very tricky because the concrete sets up so fast.
They just really seemed to care about my satisfaction and their quality of work. They had a little bit of trouble with my hose reel. The guys didn't understand that it was an automatic rewind, and so I happened to discover them out there in the middle of the yard trying to take the thing apart and trying to figure out how the hose winds back again. I went out there and showed them how it worked. The next day, they showed up with their own hose, so they immediately adapted to problems that they had. It was no problem for me that they used our hose, I just felt bad for them that they didn't know how it worked, that you needed to push a lever back for the water and the automatic rewind to work.
Their price was $3000 less than the estimate we got. I only checked with two people. If I had the need for them, I would definitely use them again. I hope this driveway lasts forever.

We were very happy with our experience with this company. It was an expensive project, but the price was competitive / consistent with other estimates we received. We chose this company because the project manager (and part owner, I believe), Edder, was able to suggest solutions for other tasks we needed done peripherally to the driveway -- e.g., turning our existing fence into a makeshift driveway gate, burying downspouts and moving dirt into the backyard to level it out (and planting grass seed). The workmanship was excellent -- another contractor who also does driveways saw the work after completion and told us it was done very well. I was worried they overpromised, with all of the additional projects they said they could do, but we were very pleased with the result. The gentlemen who performed the work -- at least 2 men and sometimes 4 for a 7-8 day period -- worked extremely hard and were very respectful to the extent possible of our home and property. I did have to call the company after they came initially when I didn't receive an estimate - and since the project manager couldn't be on-site 100% of the time, I did need to pay attention to what was being done and a few things needed to be adjusted (like the location of where a buried downspout was coming out). However my favorite thing about working with this company was that they gave us no problem with adjusting things like that to the way we wanted it and did a number of extra things (like actually repairing the rest of our fence - I offered to pay for it and they wouldn't let me). All in all a very positive experience, would strongly recommend them.

Working with Eder and Max was great. Because, they were both extremely professional and informative. Compared to other estimates, the price was certainly within reason. The installers were also proficient. Without a doubt, they were unquestionably experts. For three days, they worked long hours with meticulousness precision. Then, the lawn was seeded, covered with straw, and new grass quickly. Most important, the concrete work Looks Beautiful. With Concrete Master Solutions, we were able to experience a rare sighting…… a construction project that was absolutely hassle free. Eder, Max, and the guys, even managed to make me an extra little space for a bench -Thank you! This just goes to show that Concrete Master Solutions is attentive to the smallest details.

Concrete Master Solutions repaired our back steps. They filled in missing and cracked concrete and refinished the entire back porch and steps with a new layer of concrete-like material. It was a fairly small job so some places wouldn't consider it or gave me estimates 25% to 50% higher. CMS tore it out and built me a new one over three days, not cutting any corners. It fits perfectly in the old footprint and within the space in the siding where the old one was. My only complaint was that between initial contact and job finish, it took a few weeks and I was eager to get it done before the weather got too cold... but a few months later, everything still looks great and I am very satisfied.

Excellent! Eder was very responsive in meeting with us for an estimate, and was able to come by early before both my neighbor and I left for work. His price was very competitive with other contractors we talked to, but he was the only one that would handle the permit for us. He knows the county inspector assigned to my neighborhood, so coordinating the permit application was a breeze. Concrete Master Solutions handles all paperwork with the County, which saved us a lot of time. The workers who actually installed the driveway came early and usually finished work and packed up before dark. While the permit office processed the paperwork for the driveway apron, they worked on the walkway and non-apron portion of the driveway. They also installed new drainage pipes from the downspout to the street along the driveway. The job was done in about 3 weeks and approved by the inspector. The lawn was reseeded and covered with straw. I am very happy having done business with Concrete Master Solutions and will definitely use them again if we need anything.

The actual concrete work itself went without a hitch and still looks great - it's been a couple months since the work was done. The work crew was efficient and clean. They cleaned up after they were done and put down grass seed. Communicating with the "front office" was a bit of a chore. It took several attempts to get Eder to come out for the estimate - even after I submitted photos and dimensions. I would offer up dates and times, but the person I was talking to "didn't have access to his calendar" so couldn't confirm anything. I persevered and Eder came out to look at the job. There was some discussion about the conversion of the step to a ramp. There was a belief that the step was code required. I attempted to determine from them what the specific issue was. (I worked as a building official for 10 years so I was curious.) Eder had no specific answer at that time, but I had the impression that he was going to get back to me on that. (He didn't.) This same issue came up again during the proposal/contract phase, when I got into a long discussion with the co-owner, Cris, about whether I wanted the ramp "because it's against the code". The best answers I got was "It's in the ACI code" and "I could look it up myself." (I still can't find anything.) They only agreed to do the ramp if I signed a waiver that the ramp was against ACI code releasing them from liability for the ramp - which I did without hesitation. After the job was done, I got the final bill with a remittance date for the same day. I was not able to electronically transfer funds that day (due to technical reasons). I got a friendly reminder the following day that the final bill was due. I took care of it after the reminder. The following week - I received several emails and phone calls (from different people at Concrete Masters) that the bill wasn't paid. I provided them a copy of my receipt from their system. Later that same day, they said that there was a delay in the system processing the payment and everything was settled. I did check the "will hire again" box as I believe the actual work done is good. But, I wanted to share my experience with the process.

My wife and I could not be happier with the professional final product and customer service we received from Eder and his team at Concrete Master Solutions. As you can see from the attached pictures, our home sits on a steep hill with stair access only and a large parking pad. The existing structure had been deteriorating over time and we knew it was time to replace it before it was too much of a safety concern. Eder quickly identified the problem with the existing wall during our estimate, as it was a lack of a foundation and drainage causing it to pitch/buckle under the water pressure. Eder was very thorough and clearly explained how he would engineer the solution by tying everything together. We put the plan in place quickly, and went to file the building permit the day we signed the contract (everything digital, made it easy!) Plans were approved without any needed alterations. Throughout the entire process, Eder's crew was on-site bright and early to make as much headway as possible (it was a big job). We were very surprised at the rate of progress each day, as my wife and I both thought the 2-week project timeline was a long-shot. Happy to say we were wrong, and everything would have been done exactly within 2-weeks had we not asked Eder to delay the project 1-day for some tree work. He was very understanding of the request, and completely rearranged his team's schedule to accommodate. He was also very open to additional requests or design changes mid-project. Since we could not get into our home during most of the construction, Eder would always keep us informed of the goals for the next day and was easy to reach by text during the working hours if needed. His crew is top-notch and never made us feel like we were in the way if we were taking pictures, or dropping by to see daily progress. They always kept the site as clean as possible, and were always working with a smile even when being attacked by bees (SORRY!). The crew could not have been nicer! My wife was home one day and saw one of our elderly neighbors walking home with several bags of groceries. Eder's crew saw her and carried her groceries home for her. Just a small of example of how pleasant they are to deal with! As to the quality of the work, while I'm no expert in construction/concrete, I feel it is top notch (inspector agrees). At all steps of the process, they appeared to be doing everything exactly as my research told me should be done (30" foundation, rebar reinforcement, filling concrete block, gravel under drainage pipe, etc.). It never appeared that a step was skipped, and they went well above the contract terms by the end of the project with minimal added expense. His team was also very patient while hardscaping lights were being delivered, even though they weren't in the original scope of work. At the end of the entire process, we feel very happy with the price we paid for the product and service we received. CMS wasn't the lowest bid we got, but it was the most well articulated plan. This plan was professionally executed, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Concrete Master Solutions to any of our friends. Our inspector at the end said, "I wish they all were like this," and we don't think it gets much better than that. Thanks Eder!!
