He gave me the best estimate of 3, and I know people in my neighborhood who use him. They year before, I hired him to remodel my kitchen (counters, backsplash, wood floor and electrical work). I am very pleased with his work and his crew is very good

We hired this contractor to remodel and update the bathroom and laundry area in our basement. He was recommended based on his skills in customized carpentry. What we got was a crew of 2-3 Spanish speaking workers who performed the work with little to no supervision. The contractor, Lee Weston, showed up on the job only to deliver supplies or tools needed by the workers.  He never did any work himself on our job.  This put the burden of inspecting the work on us and communicating issues or problems with either the workers or by phone to the contractor. The workers were very nice but due to the language barrier, communication was difficult. There was also a problem in getting the crew to understand the importance of sealing off the non-work areas to protect our furniture and wood floors.  This required several reminders and finally doing some of the taping ourselves.  The original contract called for a customized cabinet to be built in the bathroom, but I soon lost confidence in the contractor's abililty to produce a satisfactory product and felt he he would have assigned the work to his crew who are not skilled carpenters. Overall, the bathroom was completed on time and to our satisfaction but without a customized cabinet.  Instead of trusting installation of the shower doors to this crew, we seperately hired a company that specializes in shower doors.  The "finished work" performed by Lee's crew did not go smoothly.  Clean up at the end of each work day was very sloppy -- nails and debris needed sweeping up and dust and dirt were everywhere for weeks. Lee selected an electirican who seemed to require an extraordinary number of holes to be cut into the ceiling in order to rewire or move lights. The final cost was substanially more than seemed equitable with other electrical work we've had done in the house.  This electrician left his debris on the floor, furniture and even on our front yard. Finally, there was a dispute regarding the costs of the change orders vs the amount that should be deducted from the original contract for work that was not completed. After trying to resolve this with Lee over several weeks, we decided to pay the difference just to be done with it.  I still feel we overpaid for change orders that we didn't insist be itemized and for an electrician we never selected. Lesson learned, even if it stops the job, get a written estimate on all work.
