I have used Western Pest in Washington DC with no problems before, but it is a different story with Western Pest in Baltimore:
I have a big Carpenter Bee problem with my home. Technician Mike told me that they treat the holes, but they don't seal the hole and he has never done that in the +/- 18 years working. Internet sites from universities and exterminators including Orkin (parent company) require filling up the holes. A technician came to the house and my son watch him treat the house, but only the holes he could reach with no ladder. We have a two story house so the upper part of the house was not treated.  I continuously see bees flying around the house and drilling new holes.

They are terrific. Very professional and responsive. We have a regular service contract, but they also send our technician out for emergencies - spiders are now afraid to be outside of our front door. We left a message one night and the manager came the very next morning!

I met with a Western Pest Services sales person to discuss the company servicing our small condo building. I had had some issues in the past with a pest control company missing appointments and the sales person assured me that Western Pest would be very diligent and keep to their schedule. Following some initial problems with the spacing of the visits, we got on track, but eventually had to drop the company because they would confirm appointments and the technician would not turn up. It was particularly frustrating as people would take time off work to wait for the technician.

The techs from Western Pest are always pleasant and professional.  They go about their business quietly and efficiently, responding as needed to any inquiries we might have.  i would recommend them to others.

Initial  consultations were fine to convince me that by the end of the treatment I would not see a single mouse in the home. There would be three visits: the first to lay traps and two follow ups on how the treatment is working.  The laying traps went well and the agent was polite and professional in explaining how the traps worked.  The follow up person (a different person!) also polite came unexpected (can't recall now as after such a long time).  It's all in my initial report.  No one ever showed up for the third and last follow up.  A month after the treatment - mice were still running around my home.  An experienced friend and neighbor lent me her cats to try and get rid of the mice FOR FREE.



In my initial report I compared the price I paid Western for a month of ridding me of the mice with the annual insurance of my home worth thousands of dollars.  I found that they were unreasonably expensive for a monthly service.



I feel that it is up to Angie's List to vet vendors and make a judgment of performance and price before sending them out to unsuspecting customers.

This company has been very courteous. They are responsive and informative. They showed up early for our initialy appointment and they actually came in under what we were paying for our previous company.

They are very nice people and do a great job. We've used them for about 3 years.

They are great. They have been really good. They come back annually to do a checkup and it is part of the fee. It is pretty reasonable. They will come back once a year. It has a 15 or 20 year guarantee. If there is a problem they will come back again, which I think is good. The same guy comes out each time and we talk and he looks around. They are pretty thorough and the guy does not mess around. He puts stakes in the ground and does the checks. He takes 15-20 minutes to check everything. The techs are really nice. My neighbor recommended him. He is an all-around good guy and I trust his judgment.

Termite plan: Once a year inspection of wooden stakes placed around the perimeter of the house. If termites are detected too near the house, they will treat the ground in that area at no extra cost. I have had one such treatment but never any termite damage or evidence they are in the house. Plan is well worth the money for peace of mind.
Home Protection Plan: Three annual inspections & treatments; I cancel if not needed. If treatment is not effective for a specific insect problem they will treat again at no extra cost. This has sometimes been necessary; I understand that this is not an exact science. Plan is somewhat expensive.
Service is usually prompt within a four hour scheduled period. Personnel are competent - I have no complaints about the service at this time.

We used to have a contract with them. They are fine. We don't have any problems with them. We've used them for a number of years. We don't remember the price. They are very good about coming and they give us a window on when they are coming.

They came out for an inspection to ensure that I was termite free. I have been using them for years and am very satisfied by their services.

They are excellent and very good. The people that come out are absolutely wonderful. They use termidor which is a top of the line chemical that stays in a gel form. Once they did that we have not had any problems. The technician that comes here is an excellent person. It is hard to get excellent service and he is good.

They were ok. I have no problems with them. I had a one year contract. I was selling my house and needed a termite inspection. The seem to do the pest control. I can not really compare them because I only had them come out. They came when they were supposed to come. I don't have any negative things to say about them.

They were excellent, very good and comprehensive. They came right away, were very available and the service was excellent. I will use them again in the future.

He saved me thousands of dollars by informing me that I didn't need a full treatment for termites. He is very good. He comes on time and accommodates my request. I am pleased with him. They come yearly for checks and if I need anything. If there are termites, they will take care of them for free. The price seems reasonable.
