I paid off a second mortgage back in Dec. 1993 but the Office of the DC Recorder of Deeds has no recorded of this after they changed their land records systems back in the 1990s and I had no proof of this being paid in the current DC land records. Ater years of fooling around with various attorneys and spending over $1000 with nothing being done or solved, I finially used a recommendation from the Washington Checkbook to use Mr. Parker and Village Settlements in Maryland. Mr. Parker and Village Settlements were the most highly recommend by the Washington Checkbook (Hope this review will help other Angie's List members) and he and Ms. Blum finally got it done very quickly and at very low cost to me compared to what I have paid out -- just paid $1000 a year or two ago to a DC attorney who had written articles for the Washington Post and nothing got accomplished and they wanted another $1000 to continue. Mr. Parker and Ms. Barb Blum tracked down a former Park Princess vice president (the Park Princess Realty company does not exist anymore) and got him to sign and have notarized a certificate of release from my second mortgage that is on file with the DC Recorder of Deeds. They then had this certificate of release properly filed and recorded with the Office of the DC Recorder of Deeds for both my condo and parking space which were encumbered by the second mortgage back in 1993. I cannot speak highly enough for Mr. Parker and Village Settlements for the speed, professionalism, and very low cost of finally getting this resolved for me. After all the years of trouble and different attempts to get this problem taken care of, I cannot believe how easy and with such little cost they took care of this problem for me. I think they were more than fair and honestly don't think they changed me enough for such great service and help. In my book they deserved every good review in the Washington Checkbook and as a new Angie's List member since Sept. 2013, I also want to share my experience here to so others have them as a recommendation too. I am so greatly pleased with their help and service. They are now trying to help resolved a second issue of the actual recording of my condo and parking space deed by the DC Office of the Recorder of Deeds.

They're an outstanding company. They were professional and stand by their work. I've used them before, when buying my house.
