Stain was redone twice but each time was delayed or postponed due to weather, sometimes without notice.  The final product was of even quality and color and not acceptable despite some sanding and restaining.  After three visits and the prospect of cold temperatures not consistent with restaining we gave up as we were told there was no more they could do.
Response from TrueDecks
"Mr. [Member’s name removed], I apologize for your concerns and your previous bad experience. Like I mentioned before in my response, we address any issues or complaints directly with all of our customer if there was an unsatisfactorily result on the final product. As you may already know you have a 2 year warranty on your work that covers any job performance or workmanship issues. However, this warranty does not have any cash value and no refunds are rendered since the job was completed 100%. Not only that, your deck got ruined by an unexpected rain and we gladly came out to do it again at no extra cost to you. As a company we still have to pay our technicians to do the work again since it is not their fault or nobody's fault for that matter. Unfortunately It is just nature and we can't predict the outcome. So just the fact that we came back to redo the job again shows our integrity and commitment to our customers since your satisfaction is our main priority. I know you had to wait several days for the work to be done, etc. but as we explained to you on several occasion via verbal and writing, we have no control of the weather and we work on a first come first basis. We also explained to you in advance that that may happen and it is even stated in writing in the work agreement that you signed. While it may be an inconvenience, our main priority is to make sure that the job is done professionally in a timely manner as long as weather cooperates. That's why when we rush into getting the job done, we may run into unexpected weather and get the finish ruined which will prolong the job even longer. Again at DeckMaster we offer the 2 year warranty on all of our work so if you ever had a concern of any kind about the job performance, I would have expected you to let us know right away to correct it. If we don't hear from you, we will assume everything is correct. As far as I know, you approved the final work and even paid the job in full and never complained about any of this. Now over 6 months later you are requesting a refund via this route without even addressing your issues or concerns with us. I even responded on your initial bad review and emphasize on you calling us to address your concerns and evaluate the project. Because if there was something wrong with the job, we will fix and that's why you have the warranty. We are just taking your word for it at this point in time. In addition I contacted last Friday and left a message with your wife to call us back to discuss this further with you and I still haven't received a response from neither one of you. I don't know why. So my resolution is to please call us back to set up an appointment to come and evaluate deck and address any issues that there might be since you're still under the warranty period. However, we cannot issue any refunds since this is the first time we hear about your complaints after so many months and secondly that's why you have a warranty on the work to cover against any issues. If the reason of your request was because of the inconvenience of job delays due to weather, I apologize but we are very transparent to all of our customers and our terms and conditions are very clear that we never express or imply any guarantee on turnaround times due to imminent weather conditions or delays just like any other company in the industry goes through the same process or inconvenience. The terms and conditions that you signed read the following: "DeckMaster, Inc. reserves the right to re-schedule appointment without notice due to imminent weather, availability of materials, project dalays, or acts of God". In conclusion please call us if you would like to work with us directly and we would gladly come to evaluate your project and discuss any possible issues that you may have. Thank you and look forward to hearing from you soon. Best Regards, Jose Ugalde President DeckMaster, Inc."

We spoke with Deck Master at a Home Show in September about installing an under deck drainage system. They came out a week later to take measurements and told us they would call us in four days with the estimate. We never heard anything. We called in October to see if they had the estimate. They did not and told us they would call us by the end of the day with the estimate.  It is now November and still have not heard a word from them.
Response from TrueDecks
"I'm sorry to hear that. I can understand that you did not get the estimate right away and that you were expecting a response from us. However, our e-mail accounts and call tracking system let us know if we missed any calls or e-mails. Sometimes the e-mail is sent to the customer with the estimate and they might not get it. I apologize for the fact that the estimator did not follow up with you to make sure you received it. I would have gone beyond by way to make sure that you received your quote should I have heard from you. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. Sincerely, Jose Ugalde President"

Back in the spring I decided my deck and railing needed to be redone. I worked with 5 or 6 AL vendors, so I was careful of who I was allowing to coming out here. This particular vendor had a guy (Miguel) come out that is no longer is with the company. What he told me was enough to get the sale, but didn't translate to the actual work. He did a good job of working with me and explaining to me enough to get the job.  The price was good, compared to other SPs but added in the extra expenses that I didnt plan on doing. I signed a contract and gave half of the figure then. (May). We originally planned for July. At the time I was also having a window replacement, so the deck had to be done after the windows due to rescheduling. The final install for the deck was in October instead of July. They were cooperatrive about the schedule. I suggested someone come out and look at what was done, to be clear about what was going on. Miguel sold the job (no longer in the picture) He told me that moving furniture on the deck would not be a problem. There was furniture on the deck: 1 table, 4 chairs and a grill. I told them to move the furniture to one side, do the work and move it back. This is the way it has been done over the years. No one else has had a problem doing it this way. These people kept mentioning to me that it wouldnt be able to be done that way and that it all needed to be removed from the deck. That can't happen due to being 13 feet up and no access. I tried to stay calm and asked for someone to come out. When he came out, he seemed OK with this. I said to allow dry time for the furniture on one side and then do the other side. The crew came and they didn't know what was going on. I had to explain to them what was going on. For me to explain to them what was going on, didn't work. I told them to allow time time in their day to allow drying time. This didnt happen. They had a lot to do.  All of the washing was done on a different day and went well and it was dried entirely. They came back 2 days later, to do the painitng. Painted the railing first, did a good job. They worked underneathe the deck and did a good job. I kept saying to allow time for the deck to dry. It was now 2p and I had to leave at 4:30 and then they started to paint the deck; 2.5 hours to paint the whole deck and including drying time!!! They didnt organize their time well at all! They were working hard but with zero organization. It was a contracted crew, with no leadership. I paid alot more because I wanted a good job to be cmplted and done right. When they actually painted, they did the entire deck, they didnt put enough paint down. I have to now touch up the deck myself. It is supposed to be paint that sinks into the wood, but it definitely wasn't enough. Cracks and splits are exposed. I don't think the deck was done well; too big of a hurry. The furn was moved too soon, leaving marks, which I had to clean up.
They left me .25 can of paint for the deck and they called it touch up paint. They also didnt leave the paint for the railing. In myexperiecne they l;eave extra paint. They said they didnt haveny paint left. Before I do the review, would you like to bring me back the paint? Theyy said yes and its been over a week and havent heard from them, after several calls. This has a  5 year warranty but when you cant get a hold of a company, that doesnt do me any good. I think that it was done 80% well. The deck could use another coat of paint. The color was too light, even though I told him I wanted slate grey and it turned out to be pale blue. Not even close to the color I wanted.  I wish they would have advised me differently on the color as well. Buyer beware: Pick the right color,. stand over them every minute, whats included and whats not included and decide if you want to work with them. I have the final check and haven't heard back from them to give it to them. What does that say?

It went okay. We don't think they did as good of the job since the stain started flaking off this Summer after the coating. I wasn't too happy with that. They wouldn't re-stain the whole deck. I wasn't too pleased.

I hired Deckmasters to strip, repair and stain 3 decks at my home -- a small deck on the top level and 2 large decks on the main and lower levels of my home.  I am very pleased with the quality of the work.  My decks look beautiful and the price was fair.  The only problem was in the scheduling of the work.  They did not show up on the date promised, claiming that weather was an issue when it was not.  Also there was a delay because they couldn't get the wood they needed to make the repairs. Then the wood suppliers showed up at my house unexpectedly and dumped the wood in my driveway.   To their credit, the Deckmasters workers came to my house and moved the wood.  I had to nag them to get the work done because whenever there was the slightest chance of rain reported by the weather forecasters, they would not show up.
In the end, however, I was very pleased with the work.  My deck is beautiful; it looks even better than I expected.  I would recommend Deckmasters, despite the delays.

Deckmaster did a full restore on our three decks a year and a half ago.  We were happy with the results; they worked really hard and did a great job.  A few months ago, I noticed the stain coming up in a number of spots on one of the decks.  It got progressively worse through the summer.  Deckmaster offered a 3 year warranty with the package we had purchased; I called them to come check it out and discuss solutions.
After two missed appointments by the estimator (one they called a day ahead to reschedule, one they forgot), they came to the house and agreed the stain was failing in those spots.  Instead of just doing spots, to ensure the deck looked uniform, Deckmaster voluntarily decided to lightly sand and completely redo the entire deck (which is pretty large).  After two delays due to rain, they completed the deck and it looks great.  I really appreciated them going above and beyond voluntarily, at their cost, to make sure the deck looked uniform.
They said to wait 48 hours for the deck to dry before moving anything back onto it - I waited that long but my heavy grill's casters still made some marks on the new stain.  Next time, I will wait longer for the stain to cure before moving the really heavy stuff on.

Went well.
The process began on June 10 and was completed on August 9.  Most of the time span was due to weathering of the new wood.
Crews arrived on time and performed their jobs well.
Some work had to be delayed by me and DeckMaster accomodated without question.

They responded quickly to my initial email and scheduled a visit to see the deck and provide a quote. After the visit we waited a week for the quote and had to contact them to get the quote. It still took a few days to get the quote. They only provided a lump sum quote for part of the job, not the full job. I contacted them back to get an itemized quote as the price seemed high and I never heard back from them. We did not use them for the job.

I cannot say enough good things about Deck Master.   My deck was only two years old and looked  terrible. The contractor who built my deck in 2012 stained it improperly.   A  year later I called a local company to fix it (Deck Medics) and they made it even worse by damaging the wood with their pressure washer.  So this summer, based on a neighbor's recommendation, I called  Deck Master.  They explained the problems with the way the deck had been treated before.   They were very clear about what they would do to make it look better.   Then they did it.   It looks beautiful for the first time since it was built.   Each person I dealt with at Deck Master was professional, knowledgeable, honest and helpful:  Jorge (who did the scheduling on the phone), Carlos (who discussed our options before providing a fair estimate) and Tito and Wilmer, who did an incredible job.   They also cleaned and re stained my neighbor's older deck at the same time, and she is very happy. with the results.  Her deck looks great .  I would highly recommend this company for deck maintenance!
Deck Master deserves an A+!

Weather hampered the quick completion of the job. Final appearance is the best fence and deck have looked since 2001. Because of weather delays, provider may have pushed too much to complete all the homes. Provider does need to be more careful covering up and/or masking areas to prevent stain from drifting to non-deck and fence areas.

These guys are very good and professional.  I called and set up a free estimate, was met at the agreed time and date and went over options.   The cost was a bit pricy, even with the  discount they provided, but the work was done well.  Whatever chemical they use really does the trick.  I paid for the sealant / stain that would protect it up to 3 years I think.    I think the way the deck looks is great, but I'm not so sure the sanding was worth the cost - I can't tell that much of a difference.    Overall, I give them a B based - primarily due to the cost.  I would use them again.

They did a great job and the deck looks great. Only thing funny was that we had negotiated at point of sale for cleaning between the slats. When the worker came to power wash the deck they didn't know about that, so there seems to have been some sort of communication breakdown between sales and worker (as there often as). But we just told them and they drilled holes for us to drain the water. Very good job overall.

Went well. Work was performed over a 2-day period. Team of 2 workmen used a chemical cleaning system on the wood and not pressure washing. They replaced 8 boards that were cracked/splintering. Used the same stain we used 4 years before when we had DeckMasters perform similar work. They exercised reasonable care - no chemicals or stain on surrounding brick work or concrete deck. There was minor damage to plants that were right against the deck but they have recovered with no ill after-effects.

Deckmaster showed up a few days late, blaming scheduling and weather. The communication throughout the job was poor with respect to updated information and returning telephone calls. The work quality was generally good, although most of the new wood steps were cracked and railing caps left unattached. Worst aspect was an attempt to overcharge beyond contract price and no communication re resolution, requiring me to protest with my credit card bank which is still open.

It was a really good price. It is a tiered system, depending on what I wanted to do with my deck with the option I was going to go for, which was the full service option. It was probably going to be about $2,100 because I wanted to have some boards replaced, and it was a really good price. I just was waiting to see how expensive my basement was going to be before I went ahead with the deck. I may use their services in the future and I just needed to see how much it was going to cost to think of it. I will use their services, but I just don’t know if it will be this fall or when I can get around to it because they were really good. The tech was really good. He took the right amount of time putting the estimate together. He walked around and checked the loose boards and measured everything. Then he tested with the solution to see if they could actually get the stain that I had previously up. Then he walked me through all the options and then left it open to me. I didn’t feel like he was trying to do a hard sell. He was just really informative but not pushy. It was really good and it was really a positive experience. I had one other person and I thought it was really a good price. I thought it was pretty fair. From what he walked through, it seemed like they had a quality product. They were kind of slow on responsiveness because it took them like three weeks to get back to me since I called. He actually came early.
