We noticed that it leaked about 2 days later. We called the provider. They sent a man out on 6-2-2015.
We asked him after he had tightened the hose clamps to let us see how if did when the dishwasher had
filled up somewhat, He did that for me.....It seems to be working with No Leaks at this time...
We called the company when they were next open to get a quote. The person who answered contacted the crew that had come out and reported back to us their estimate of $145. We had already known what that crew's estimate was, and we had been expecting someone at the office to provide a quote. It sounded expensive for the additional work that needed to be done, but we were in a bind at that point of needing to get the dryer working, so we made the second appointment. A different two-man crew arrived a few days later to do the work. They also were professional and friendly. They performed the tube and wall cap replacement (which involved one combined part) in about 15 minutes. They had expected to need to cut the tube but it ended up being unnecessary to do so. We then asked them to caulk a little more than they had around the outside wall cap because the seal wasn't quite complete, and overall they spent about 25 minutes at our house. When they were finished, we were presented with a pre-printed invoice for $145.
After they left, we called Quality Kitchens to ask about the $145 charge given the amount of time and materials involved (especially when compared to the cost of the delivery and initial partial installation--about $200). We were told that no matter how long it took, the cost was $145 because that's what was quoted. We asked if the invoice, which simply listed $145 for the work, could be broken down by time and materials, and were told it could not. We also felt like our questions annoyed the person who answered the phone. So we were disappointed not only in the substance of the response, but also by the manner of the person on the phone.
Overall, the quality of work appears to be sound, but we didn't put an A on quality because, during the second visit, when the old tube connecting the dryer to the outdoors was removed and replaced: 1) there was a large chunk of lint/debris behind the tube that connected to the wall above the dryer and the worker just wiped it onto our floor before we could say anything. It would've been nice if he'd asked if we had a paper towel (which was right in front of him on a roll and we were standing right there) or if he had a rag to wipe it off. (It's hard for us to access behind the dryer now to get it up). 2) The person who caulked around the tube on the outside did appear to wipe away the majority of the debris before caulking but it seems he could have cleaned it better and gotten a better seal against the wall had he done so, although he added some caulk when asked to.
The C grade for responsiveness is in part because the company did not answer their phone for at least 15 minutes after they were supposed to be open (and we needed to talk to someone that morning), and in part because of how the person on the phone responded to questions about the second invoice.
For the record, the total cost of about $350 included both visits, and our cost concern is solely related to the second visit.
YOU ALL GET AN A PLUS! I am VERY SATISFIED
"Quality Kitchens was contracted by Pacific Sales to do a standard dishwasher installation for this customer. In this case there was a electric junction box with multiple wires coming to it under the existing dishwasher. New dishwashers have solid bottoms and will not allow wiring to be done that way. Standard dishwasher installation does not include moving household electric wires. We advised customer to have an electrician move the box so that the new dishwasher would fit and to have him install an outlet for the dishwasher. The customer did not want to do this and canceled the order. We went out on 1/23/13 and we returned the unit to Pacific Sales 1/26 within seven days as required. Quality Kitchens is just an install contractor and did not sell the appliance, installation or have contact with the customer before the day of installation. I can't say what was told to them at the time they bought the dishwasher but if the customer has problems with what is or is not included in their sales agreement then they should take that up with the company they had the contract with. Quality Kitchens does know what is included in what we were contracted to do. We are sorry could not accomadate this customer as we try to provide great service for all our customers whether they contract directley with us or have made thier purchase with another company. We do not understand why this customer would blame Quality Kitchens when their agreement was with another company."
