Potomac Garden Center has fully earned an 'F' rating by taking my money for an order 12 WEEKS AGO and (1) falsely representing the time it would take for the order to arrive; (2) not informing me even once in the subsequent 12 weeks of the status of my order, the reason for the delay, or the date, if any, when my pump will arrive; and (3) not returning any of my phone calls. Details: Twelve weeks ago I ordered a replacement pump for a fountain from Potomac Garden Center. At the insistence of the manager (as she was described to me), I paid for the pump in advance. I also gave the manager my name, phone number, home address, and email address. The manager said that the pump would arrive in 3-4 weeks. Not only has the pump not arrived in the subsequent 12 weeks, but there has not been a single communication by phone, email, or otherwise from Potomac Garden Center to me, including in response to multiple courteous phone calls from me. When I called twice last week, I was told each time that only the manager could tell me the status of my order, that the manager was out, and that she would be back the next day and call me then -- she has never called. After 12 weeks, Potomac Garden Center still has my money but I have no pump; no idea when, or if, my pump will ever arrive; and no idea when, or if, they will ever tell me the status of my order.

The experience was great.  The team at the nursery was knowledgeable and extremely helpful.  They also had a great selection of trees and plants.  On top of that, they were able to make a same day delivery (on a Sunday) to Silver Spring within 2 hours of purchasing the tree.

They came here and they were polite. They did exactly what they said they are going to do, no more no less.

Potomac Garden Center was very responsive and did exactly what they said, at the time and for the price they quoted me. Moreover, their firewood was of good quality -- dry, clean and burns well. I paid extra to have the wood stacked and they did a nice, neat job of that, as well. Their price was competitive. I gave them a "B" on price only because prices for firewood in general are, in my opinion, pretty high right now. But, then, that's what I get for ordering the wood mid-winter and shortly after a major power outage in the area. Their product was better than other firewood I've ordered in the past from other sources -- drier, cleaner, consistent length and consistent hardwood. I'd buy from them again.

The designer was going through some personal difficulties and I think that's maybe why she didn't do a very good job of picking and spacing the plants, etc. She's no longer with them. However, they have a project manger, Andy, who is wonderful. He seemed to know more about plants and soil than the designer. He was helpful, and in the end he stepped in and got the project finished. If I could have just worked with Andy from the start, the whole thing would probably have been much better. I was told that the project would begin in a few weeks and ended up waiting months with me having to call to ask why they weren't scheduling my installation over and over. I had to replace many of the plants within weeks, even though they have a guarantee they didn't stand by it for most of the plants which died quickly. That didn't seem right to me at all. Also, their estimate was far lower than what the price ended up being. The designer didn't communicate well in regards to the change in pricing at all. They almost covered up the weep holes on my brick siding on my home, and that worried me. I thought that they would know better. They didn't warn me to spray for deer and I paid dearly to replace the plants that were eaten within days. Since then, I've used Liquid Fence and had no problem. I think the designer should have talked with me about this. I asked her to use deer resistant plants when we first made our plans. If it wasn't for Andy's attitude, I would have rated this company a "C." I've had another designer draw up a plant to move the plants around and space them properly, etc. In the end it will look great.

I HAVE USED POTOMAC GARDENS FOR MANY OF THE GARDEN PLANTS and BUSHES AT MY HOME. THE EMPLOYEES ARE VERY HELPFUL and ALWAYS GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP ANSWER ANY OF YOUR QUESTIONS.
