On the phone, Gabriel is very helpful. In person Gabriel is rude. We paid a deposit of half, which is no problem. The tenants moved so there wasn’t much to do. Before the job was “done”, Ole Gabriel was rushing to get paid. For $1600 and 30 mins…at least make sure the customer is satisfied. Rude.

I have video evidence of Movers on duty stealing a priceless bottle of Japanese whisky, hiding it in moving blankets and walking it out of my house. This company hires thieves, stay far far away. We are also missing a few things form our boxes such as my daughters razor scooter and some high end blankets. 1. [*** Link removed ***] 2. [*** Link removed ***] 3. [*** Link removed ***] 4. This was supposed to be a Big Deal, but Movers on Duty performed services not requested (e.g., "wrapping" things that did not need to be wrapped), and the move cost twice what the Big Deal was supposed to be. The movers complained that the furniture was heavy, scraped the furniture across the wood floors, and scratched or nicked every piece of furniture that was moved. It was an awful moving experience in every way.

The service was okay. They were on time for the move. They were a little shorthanded so it took a little longer than expected, but they got the work done at the price quoted.

It was terrible. That's the first and only thing I used on Angie's List and I canceled afterwards. They had a coupon for moving, I bought it, I think it was $200 for 3 hours or something. The move was fine. They decided to use their own packaging to fortify some of the items and then without really consulting me or telling me about the added cost. They were also quite slow and it was a 1-bedroom apartment. I've done that move myself many times in less time that it took them. And, by the end of it, they charged me another close to $500. Something that I expected to cost me $300 normally, and I thought I was doing it for $200 because of the deal, I've done the same move like $300 for another moving company, I ended up paying $700. I was extremely dissatisfied. I think that the crucial thing is that the member should be accurately told or to ask very clearly about the additional packaging fee and things like that. It's better to know upfront how much they're going to charge for doing that for you, packing things a little bit more carefully. Also, to ask them how long it's going take ahead of time as they get there.

Movers on Duty were hired to remove a hot tub. When I called to make the appointment, I was told they would be able to perform this service. When they arrived, they told me they could not remove the hot tub. We had them remove excess trash because we had already paid their fee.

Small surcharges added up. Not "the most" upfront about them.

Movers were very polite and it was a bit of a challenge (refrigerator moved from basement in tight space) but with this challenge they lost focus on protect our carpet. We ended up with stains and carpet snags that could have been avoided.

Movers on Duty arrived on schedule, did a quick inventory of the work to be done and very quickly and efficiently removed the items from several rooms in the house. They were courteous and thorough and the job was well-worth the price.

My wife and I moved from a small apartment to a house less than five miles away. We purchased an Angie's List Big Deal which offered moving services from Movers on Duty. The apartment was 600 square feet. We were told that the move should take no more than four hours and Movers on Duty would provide four movers for the job. It was originally scheduled to take place at 2pm on Feb. 14th. We arranged and paid the fee for use of the service elevator in our apartment for four hours starting at 2pm. At noon, we received a call saying that the movers were running late at a prior job and we could expect them no later than 3:30pm. At 3, we called the movers for an update and were told they were just finishing up the first job and would be to our apartment no later than 5. At 5, we called again and they said that they were stuck in traffic and it did not look like there were going to be able to be there until 7. At 7, we called a third time and they said that for whatever reason, they were not going to be arriving until 7:30pm or 8pm. At this point, our window for the use of the elevator had passed and the building manager had gone home for the day. Additionally, we thought it was ridiculous and unreasonable to start a move at 8pm finishing the move close to midnight, potentially disturbing both our neighbors in the apartment building and our neighbors at our new house. After some back and forth, Movers on Duty agreed to perform our move the following morning, requiring my wife to take an additional day off from work. Movers on Duty did show up at the agreed upon time the following day, however, they only brought two movers for the job. As such, the move took nearly the entire day, 7 hours. When the job was complete, the movers presented my wife with a bill for the additional hours it took them to move our stuff. The bill totaled something near $700. When pressed as to the reason for the bill, they said that the Angie's List Big Deal was only good for four hours. Hearing these recent developments, I called Movers on Duty for an explanation. I reminded them that they had quoted the job as requiring four hours with the four movers they promised. After a fairly long conversation, they agreed to reduce the cost of the additional hours in half.
Aside from the lateness of the movers and the additional cost they tried to charge, the movers did do a great job moving our stuff. They were careful not to bump the furniture, they wrapped our fragile things like the TV and computer and they were friendly.

It was a pretty good experience, but one that came with some hidden costs. At first, the company was tough to hold of and it took a few attempts to actually get scheduled. Once we made contact, however, the person we worked with was very good. The guys arrived on time the day of the move and sized up the situation. They were nice guys and very professional, although not super quick. They did care well for our things, which we appreciated. They were flexible as well, helping load stuff in our cars as well as their trucks and taking a few things that we had forgotten to list on the initial manifest. On the other end, they did a nice job as well, taking care to tread lightly on brand new renovation and taking things where they needed to go. The only issue was with the price. There were quite a bit of extra costs, including the packing materials which we were charged over $100 for. We also got charged for an extra hour and an extra partial hour, which with tip, brought the price tag up to about $625. That was more than we expected with a big deal for $199, for a move that was about a mile away. That said, the guys worked hard and were up front about the additional costs on site, and I think we got a good value (compared to some of the horror stories we have heard from other moves). My only complaint was that we could have saved some money if the guys had worked a little faster.

This review is being submitted because Angie's list sent me an email requesting a rating.
This company took 16 hours to do the job they said they could do in 8 to 10 hours. Their employees stole my property such as a PS3. I filed a police report. One of their employees took my credit card information and attempted to fund in $1800 vacation for himself. Another police report was filed. I also found bad reviews with the Better Business Bureau as well as here on Angie's list. The move itself was horrible and that employees were ill-equipped and arrived late.

They got the job done. They were a little slow, they took their time. They were nice about everything and got it all moved without any problems.

It was a little difficult to get the actual appointment scheduled (left un-returned voice mails twice), but once it was schedule, the service was punctual and professional. I would use them again.
