The process started with a consultation in their showroom on Luanne Dr. in Gaithersburg, MD. Admittedly, I arrived with very specific plans in hand and was not prepared for some constructive feedback on my design. I had spent months "perfecting" what I thought I wanted. I learned (begrudgingly ... ha ha) that they are the experts and are there to ensure that no detail is missed. Keith helped prevent a major error and I thank my lucky stars that he did every time I open my refrigerator. The remainder of my design was pretty good, but of course Keith made it better and helped with the finishing detail that took it to the next level. Kimberly and Michelle were both instrumental in the success of the project. Between drawing reviews and ordering, the process was just as it should be, easy and correct. Poor Kimberly and Michelle must have been so happy when the project was over because I can be an over communicator and they never made me feel like I was a burden. They made time for me EVERY time I needed them. None of the pre-work means a lick unless you have a good installation team and all I can say is that I had the very best. Sean and Rafael were nothing shy of amazing craftsmen. They were detailed to the nth degree and so humble at the same time. They discovered some imperfections in the delivered cabinetry, but they coordinated replacement parts, etc. without impacting the project plan by even minutes. I simply cannot say enough about them and how much I appreciate all they did to ensure that I was completely satisfied. Look, I can go on and on about this organization and the people that we worked with, but the proof is in the pudding. I have already started my second project with them in another space, so I'm a repeat customer and we all know that we wouldn't do that unless we were satisfied the first time. I hope that if you have the opportunity to work with this organization that you enjoyed the experience as much as I did, because home renovation can be stressful and having people that make the process more palatable is so important.

It worked out really well.  We are happy with the kitchen, the cabinets, design and the way things are laid out.  There is now a place for everything and cooking is a joy.  The installers were extremely skilled.  When our contractor slipped up, Keith made sure his own people came and corrected, as with the under cabinet lighting.  I recommend them highly.

Keith was excellent. Initially he made suggestions that I didn't like, but he kept giving reasons why his suggestions were good. He said he would change them if I wanted, but in the end I went with his suggestions on location of floating and open shelves, and glass fronts on some of the cabinets. His vision was much better than mine and the kitchen layout looks great. I'm very happy that I listened to his opinions on why certain things would work or wouldn't.

I was very pleased with the process and the final product. I have an awesome kitchen now and increased the value of my house considerably, with minimal financial and personal time investment. Keith was a pleasure to work with. He is incredibly knowledgeable, flexible, and patient.     I worked with Keith at MKB to design a new kitchen in an older 2 story colonial. I had already knocked down the wall between the original dining room and kitchen when I invited Keith over to start the design process. I had a couple of plans in hand. Keith and I worked through an additional 3 potential plans and settled on one in a short time. All details were set, the cabinet order was placed, and the cabinets arrived at MKB on time. We had the cabinets immediately shipped to my house. The delivery men were very friendly, careful, and efficient. I did the installation with the help of a friend. I had never done anything like this before, but the plan was solid, the numbers were accurate and, after a few beginner mistakes on our part, all the cabinets were installed level and square. MKB also hooked us up with a granite cutter for countertops and an appliance company that got us state-of-the-art appliances at wholesale cost. The appliances arrive on Tuesday (Sept 4th). After that, all that needs to be finished is the crown molding.    I will highly recommend Keith and MKB to friends and family.

Keith Hudson is a brilliant designer and a very creative decorator.  He was very helpful at first, making design adjustments to the plans our architect put together.  The problem is that he is lousy with following up on promises - classic over promise and under perform type of guy.  He left us hanging for weeks on end, in fact, we almost switched to another company.   He was terrible about returning phone calls, especially after we signed the contract.  We paid a 50% deposit upon signing the contract, no problem.  But then the kitchen was demolished and my family was displaced and when the cabinets arrived in their facility they demanded that I pay in full before they would deliver them to be installed.  Classic case of having us over a barrel and getting the full payment.  All th other contractors held back at least 10% until completion.  There were many problems with the measurements of the cabinets and he had to order replacement parts several times, again with major time delays and lack of follow up.  The cabinets still aren't right but I gave up.  Way too high a price to pay for this level of service.

Keith created a beautiful and very professional design for our kitchen.  He added details that gave our small townhouse kitchen a designer look and created a more open floor plan for the 40 year old space.  We added a pass-through that was carefully sized and placed because it impacted the whole first level of the townhouse. He persuaded us from making design decisions that we would have regretted, and he was right. He is pleasant to work with.  The MKB showroom in Rockville has a relaxed and welcoming atmospere if you are inclined to help yourself as you ponder decisions, as I am.  Getting to the final plans was definitely the rate-limiting step in the ktichen remodel process.  Responsiveness from the firm to phone and email questions was slow.  There was a measuring error that required modification of the plan on one wall and modification of the delivered custom cabinets.  That part was frustrating, but if you are patient, working with Keith is worth it.  The design exceeded our expectations, and with time, the inconvenience of the process is forgotten, and the beautiful kitchen remains yours to enjoy.  I am giving MKB an 'A" because I think the final outcome is more important than the process.

I thought they cared about my project. I thought they wanted to improve livability and usability of my kitchen and they wanted it to work beautifully. They were great to work with and had expensive choices. They were very professional. One of the manufacturers designed the cabinets, did all the measuring and made customized cabinetry.

I was not impressed with this company. Things went smoothly at first, and my builder's recommendation helped seal the deal. They were helpful and tried to provide some suggestions and guidance through the process and we finally settled on the details. Things started to deteriorate as we started to order and finalize the details of the kitchen. They managed to completely leave off installation costs from the contract and claimed that we had discussed it even though we never did. My builder intervened and we reached a solution after a lot of back and forth, and my builder acknowledged that this was a huge oversight on the part of MK&B but he wanted to figure out a solution since he works with them (I ended up paying a portion of the installation costs and my builder contributed while MK&B gave a modest discount). Once install got going, there were a few issues with regards to mis-measurements, which I understand happens from time to time, but I felt this was excessive. The overall install took way too long and they had extreme difficulty coming back to close things out. They would come for 3 hours, do some work, and say they needed to come back b/c the forgot a part or needed to order something. They had to come back at least 5 times after install to close out little things that they didn't do, like aligning drawers and finishing trim. The install took place in Augusts 2009, and it took about another 2-3 months for them to get it done. Then 2 drawers were cracked and needed replacing, and I still have not had them installed after 3 months of going back and forth with excuses of why they were not ordered. The cabinets are already chipping (white paint) and I can only imagine what they are going to look like in another 5-10 years (I guess I'll be transitioning to a rustic look). I would not use this company again, but thanks to them I have no desire to take on another kitchen remodel for a long time.

Keith came to my house to talk about what I wanted. He was very knowledgeable and had lots of ideas. He sent me 3 great designs. I chose the mid-level design. I asked him lots of questions about why he did certain things and he had good answers for all of it. I went with everything he recommended, with a couple of minor exceptions. I purchased cabinets and granite from him. I used his recommended source for appliances. My contractor did all the work. MK&B was responsive and good to work with, although sometimes they were a little slow in responding to questions. A few things didn't arrive with the cabinet shipment and they took care of it without delay. I love my kitchen and so does everyone who's seen it.

HELPFUL WITH DESIGN AND CHOICE. PLEASANT AND FRIENDLY TO WORK WITH. A FEW MISTAKES WERE MADE IN THE MEASUREMENTS BUT EVERYTHING WAS REPLACED WITH NO EXTRA COSTS.
