He is a very good guy. I'm very lucky to have him.

It was just great because we needed it and I really didn't even ask him to do it but he did it anyway because he is that kind of guy and we have a good relationship so he feels comfortable doing that. If he see's a problem he'll just take care of it and I really appreciate that.

McCarthy came in with a proposal that was significantly cheaper than two other bids I solicited - $1500 compared with around $2500 for the other two. McCarthy thought he could do it in a day. He and his partner admired how much shade there was and stressed the fact that they would give it a light touch and not trim too much. The trees completely hid the neighbor's house and provided seclusion. One of three cherry trees in the backyard was split and needed to be removed altogether. In removing the one cherry tree, McCarthy cut off all of the lower limbs of the surrounding cherry trees, leaving the entire backyard exposed to the neighbor and completely denuding that side of the property. While he and his partner tried to justify their action, it was clear they hacked up the surrounding trees to make removal of the middle tree easy and to justify their price. They also left stumps in the ground for about half a dozen other smaller trees removed. McCarthy argued that he gave me a good price, and removed a split fence on my request as part of the price. He ultimately gave me $300 off and I paid $1200, but nothing can replace 30 years' growth of two beautiful cherry trees, except another 30 years. McCarthy offered a cheap price to get my business, destroyed two beautiful trees in the process. I am writing this review one year after the service because every single day I look out onto my neighbor's house, and regret my decision to save a few dollars and destroy the privacy and seclusion we had before.

His prices are very reasonable. They do a ton of work and during the summer I pay him a $109 a month and he has done a ton of extra work and I don't even think I've paid him $2000 over the years. He comes out and looks at what his crew has done. He noticed the split tree. Our yard looks a hundred percent better. The owner's name is Brian McCarthy.

They came and did a very good job.

Their price was roughly half of some of the estimates that I received. They did a super job. The crew was great and they cleaned up very nicely after themselves. They did everything that a contractor should do.

McCarthy Grounds Maintenance has been doing my lawn and landscaping care since March 2009. They services most of my neighborhood and I began using them when another provider's prices got to be too high.
Work is done promptly. Spring and fall cleanings are done but cost extra based on the size of the job and if there is anything out of the ordinary you want done, make sure you let them know. Invoicing is done monthly and when you have special services done, like the clean ups, ask in advance what the price will be, then when you get the bill, verify the price is correct.
The owner is responsive, but special jobs get done when they can put them into their schedule, so if you want to get something done, earlier in the season is better. Bad weather will also affect their scheduling, so keep that in mind.
There are lots of other lawn and landscaping companies out there. McCarthy does good work for the price and is reliable.
Costs run about $2400 a year including the clean ups.

We requested an estimate from the owner, Brian McCarthy. He gave us very honest feedback and discussed options with us. Once we had made a final decision the work was completed exactly as agreed upon and in the time frame specified. Definitely a top-notch company providing top-notch service!
