J&K Air Conditioning

We have been using J&K air conditioning and heating for over thirty years. We have always been extremely satisfied with their service, cost, responsiveness and recommended products. The routine maintenance contracts that we purchase annually give us peace of mind and insure the timely and thorough maintenance of our heating and A/C units. We unconditionally recommend J&K.

I'd give them an "A" overall. There wasn't that much to it, they checked my heat pump to make sure it was working properly, It took one guy about 20 minutes. I would use them again. I've been using them for many years.

They have done my air conditioning and heating for twenty years. They are "A" everytime, that's why I've been using them so long. They are awesome. I have a service contract through them. I will always use them. As long as they are around I'm using them.

I am 100% satisfied with the service I received from J & K Airconditioning. Scheduling was easy, and they called ahead of time to remind me and confirm the appointment. I had a 3-4 hour time frame during which they would arrive and they were at my house and ready to work within the 1st hour, which might seem long to some people, but in my experience that's better than I can usually hope for when it comes to having a time frame. Their worker (I'm terrible with names, unfortunately) was very friendly and professional. My system has been having trouble keeping the 2nd floor of the house cool, and I'm a new home owner so I had a lot of questions, but he was patient and listened to every single one. He took the time to explain things to me and talk about what the problem was. Unfortunately, he determined that the main issue is that my air flow unit is over 30 years old and that my AC unit was installed separately causing my whole system to run inefficiently; all of which was not something I could get addressed that day. But he took the time to talk to me about things I could do to help alleviate the problem in the meantime and explained that when I replace it I need to be sure to replace the AC unit as well. He also let me know about several programs through my power company that would provide some reimbursement for when can I upgrade my system. He also determined that I was low on refrigerant and needed about a pound added. He was able to replace that for me right away. I have an older system so the refrigerant was actually the bulk of my total cost. All together I paid $98 for the inspection and labor and $150 for the refrigerant.

Great! I called around 3:00/3:30 to see if they could come out and they were able to get someone here by 6:00 which was amazing. We have been using J&K for 6 years and in fact use them because the prior owners had used them for years as well. Service is always professional, the people they send are friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. The person on the phone is great too, very friendly and called me back when she said she would.

We hired a vent cleaning service to clean our furnace vents and duct work last year via Angie's List, who I have reviewed elsewhere.  We were awakened in December at 2 AM  by our carbon monoxide monitor, which registered near lethal carbon monoxide level.  I turned off the furnace, turned on the vent fans in all bathrooms, opened all windows and doors and forced the air out.  Kyle of J & K came out to help me.  He checked the readings on our carbon monoxide monitor against his professional caliber carbon monoxide meter and discovered it was underreporting the levels of carbon monoxide.  After some time spent in our still gaseous basement, he  discovered that the vent cleaning company had damaged our furnace vents, as well as breaking our Aprilaire 5000 air cleaner.  We already knew about the air filtration problem , but had no idea they had actually damaged our vents. 

 Kyle and the staff of J& K (who were NOT the people who caused the vent and filtration damage) rearranged their entire work schedule for several very busy days to fit  us in at the top of their list.  They spent two days with us, totally replacing our furnace vents.  We have not had a single problem since they did their work.  We are deeply grateful to them.  They dropped everything to help us, which they did effectively and at low cost.  You can't find a better HVAC company than J& K. 

As to the vent cleaning company, I notified them of the problems.  They reimbursed me for what I had paid them, but we had to swallow the cost of the furnace and air filtration repairs.  Be very careful who you hire to clean your vents.  The folks we hired came highly recommended via Angie's list.  Read all reviews.

great!  We have used J&K for 5 years and they seem to try to send the same few people to service which means they know the house and history which is helpful.  Always are polite and on-time and efficient.

Last November, J&K serviced the Furnace at our home on Highboro Dr., Bethesda after it was taking a very long time to heat the home. Tony & Scott came the same day I called, cleaned leaves & other debris that had been sucked in from outside, flushed trap & drain. ran pump & cycled the heat. They checked to make sure everything was running OK. Total charge was only for the minimum service charge of $96.
I have called J&K for HVAC service for our properties since Feb 2010 when the furnace in our Wilson Lane, Bethesda home died during the blizzard. I searched Checkbook.org & found Kyle from J&K who came through the deep snow & offered a Trane 95% Furnace for $2706 total installed.  Last summer, during the heat wave, Tony & Scott replaced the dead AC unit in our Wilson Lane, Bethesda home for less than $3000.  J&K has serviced several of our other properties in Gaithersburg & Bethesda.
Kyle is the owner of this this family run company. His wife (Linda),  daughter (Leslie) & staff (Chelsea & Karissa) handle the office while Kyle, his son (Scott) & Tech (Tony) service customers in the field.  Tony is an amazing friendly wizard who can diagnose, explain & repair anything.

Very well.  Speedy service. Moderate labor costs: $125 for a half hour.  Cheering to know we have no visible cracks in our high efficiency furnace, which J and K installed 10+ years ago.  We have had very positive experiences with this company for the last 10 years.  When we had them put in the furnace, J & K was the low bidder on the job. We have found them to be excellent and have had almost no problems at all with the furnace and air conditioning in ten years.

They did a great job at this property, on time, good work, good price. Will use them again!

Their work was outstanding. They replaced both the outside heat pumps and the inside electrical furnances for the two existing heat pump systems. We also had humidifiers installed on both units. They removed and hauled away the existing equipment and made slight adjustment in the existing duct work to ensure that I received the benefits from the new systems and their higher efficiency. They started at the scheduled time and completed the work on schedule. The staff was very professional and I am very pleased with the work that was performed.

Overall it went extremely well. I called this morning thinking I would get an appointment in 24 hours but instead they scheduled it for later in the morning. Got a call letting me know he was on his way and he was there within 10-15 minutes. Extremely knowledgeable, polite and answered all my questions.

There were a lot of problems after they installed it. They did not check it all before they left. They came out several times to fixed all of them. They did not charge me for any of these services. Everything is working fine now.

When they arrived, they tried to sell me other things. They mentioned my furnance was old when it was not and that it was not right for my home.

Overall, everything went quite well. They explained the problem, then fixed it in a timely manner.

The office staff set the appointment to occur within 2 business days. The technician showed up on time and gave a promopt diagnosis. He was friendly and professional.

It went well. They were the least expensive, most professional and they came right when I called. The owner is Kyle Flemings. I would use them a bazillion times.

I got several bids to install the Mitsubish "mini-split" unit in my home office. I had a through-the-wall A/C unit for years, combined with electric baseboard heat. The heat was fine, but I was having problems with the A/C unit and was tired of the level of noise, so decided to have a mini-split unit installed. I got several bids from recommended companies for the unit I wanted and J and K was the lowest by several hundred dollars. Even though they had a preference for another brand, they were happy to order and install the one I requested. They were prompt, professional, neat, extremely pleasant, and did a great job with both the indoor and outdoor installations. The unit is everything I had hoped it would be, and I am very pleased.

Kyle is always reliable and does great work. We recently installed a unit to cool and heat our new basment. Jand K has taken care of all our air conditioning and heating needs for more than ten years.
