Very professional, prompt response. I had some chairs that needed repair, scratches on my table and some damaged legs on a sofa.  They did most of the work on site and took an antique chest to the shop for complete stripping and restoration.  The work was promised for completion  within 3 weeks and was completed in only one week.  The furniture looked like new and the antique chest was restored to become a family heirloom of great value.  I was very pleased in their level of professionalism.  We had just had our carpets replaces and I asked that they remove their shoes.  They cheerfully obliged.  I would highly recommend Furniture Doctor for any restoration needs, especially due to the convenience of on site service.  I was very comfortable giving them a piece that was near and dear to my heart.

It was a fantastic experience.  Mr. Stagnaro has an artist's eye for color and a high attention to detail.  There was a moment where he was not satisfied and he pulled it out and began again.  He suggested some very interesting and beautiful ideas, all of which I went with.   The lighting - all on dimmers-, the arches, the special detailed trim, the beautiful grains of wood on the cabinetry, the cherry stain and final shine set off my TV and the other equipment beautifully.  The cabinets were created to perfectly fit our albums, (another high priority), DVDs and game cartidges & accessories. I really could not afford to buy a 13' Marble countertop as I had envisioned, so Furniture Doctor set to work actually MARBELIZING a piece of thick plywood in exactly the tones I was seeking.  It came out better than I would have EVER imagined.  Every person who sees it is fooled.  They did something similar with the hearth stone on the fireplace.  The mantle they built also matches the cabinetry in an Arts & Crafts style.  They also built wood paneling and shelving around the perimeter of the room to display my precious photos and artifacts. The work was completed ahead of schedule and my basement was left very clean after they departed.  Just two of the guys were there for a few days.  I couldn't have purchased a finer piece of furniture - or rather, gotten a better ROOM.  Very, VERY happy.  My once cold, boring, plain basement is now my favorite room in the house.

Asked for refinishing of childs antique rocker and coffee table. Advised that I wanted the varnish removed from the rocker and a good coat of varish (or most appropriate finish) applied. There was a "lamb seal" which we wanted to be kept intact. The job was poor. There were drips and an uneven finish. As to the coffee table, there had been a water mark which we asked to have removed. The removal of that was fine however the varnish applied was "quick and dirty" where there were portions of the table which were not even touched, bubbles, and excees varnish on the surface. People who returned the furniture didn't speak english and could not address the poor work. When the owner was contacted, he agreed to redo both item. Again the job was poor and would not recommend this company. We just wanted our furniture back. As to being punctual, they were punctual to come get the furniture and half of the costs. Again when they dropped off the furniture the first time, they were punctual since they wanted the remainder of the funds. The people didn't speak english and could not respond to questions. When the rework was being done, it was not punctual. Family was in town to pick up the rocker and we couldn't reach the company. They kept telling us how they did musuem quality work and a mistake was made on ours since they did a quick cover something like they would do for an antique dealer. Supposedly it was a misunderstanding. If that was true, the reworked items would have been of better quality. Overall a horrible experience. Name was found from another source list.
