Bottom line: Don't trust Adam's lowball quote. Adam is basically a charlatan who's business is to rip people off.

Adam came to our house for the original estimate.  His pricing seemed reasonable and he was knowledgeable and helpful.  He even came back the day before our move to put protective covering on the floors. On the date of our move, they got a late start understandably because the foreman had had an unfortunate car accident the night before.  When they arrived, they were careful to wrap everything using plastic wrap and blankets.  The foreman in particular was very helpful throughout the move and even helped remove a window so that we could fit a large sofa into our basement.  It was a life-saver, although I'd say his carpentry skills were pretty mediocre, even for a mover. My only real complaint is that they dragged a lot of furniture on the ground and did bang a few things up.  (I"ve moved a lot in the last four years and know that moving is rarely flawless).  Two items, a sofa and bookcase, that had been carefully wrapped came through with scuffing and dirt.  As compensation, the company did offer to cover the cost of the upholstery cleaning for the sofa.
