Second MAJOR problem is that they damaged a wall and doorframe in the move. It wasn't discovered until the morning after the first move, and immediately reported. I was assured it would be taken care of. The short version of the story is that after months of delays and little or no response from them, one of the Vice Presidents explained their "policy". The way it was expained to me was that if the damage was not reported by the crew while they were at the job, the company does not accept responsibility. Damage reported later is up to the crew members to acknowledge, and the crew members are personally responsible for paying for it. That policy is certainly not customer friendly.
In the meantime, I have contacted the credit company to stop payment. Hepofully I can recover the amount of their bill which will cover most of the cost of repair.

that 1-800-GotJunk gives you the option of hiring them or not. You
show them what needs to go, they look it over and show you the
charge(s). At this point you can say yes or no. I said yes even though
the price was a bit steep. In fairness though, the three men showed up
on time, they knew what they were doing, and they managed to remove
some very bulky items without putting so much as a mark on my walls or
door. Some of these items needed to be moved downstairs too!
1800GotJunk also took all that stuff up to the County Transfer Station.
Would I used this provider again? Perhaps, but I would probably shop
around first for a better price.
Extremely well. I booked an appointment at 3:30 via the web and immediately received a confirmation email. At approximately 4 pm I received a call and they arrived at 4:30. They gave me a quote upfront and removed all of the items quickly except the sofa.
The sofa would not fit through the door because we had a new door installed since bringing in the sofa. The crew could not
disassemble the sofa because they did not have the right tools. However, I was given another appointment for the following day.
The next day the sofa was dismantled and removed promptly.
All of the staff were courteous and professional and very willing to answer questions and discuss any issues.

When the 2-man crew arrived, the showed me a concise and clear statement showing how the haul would be priced with respect to how the truck was filled -- full, half, etc ...
The crew was professional and courteous; they did a great job of working around another crew that was beginning work on finishing our basement. They performed the job efficiently, cleanly, and with no muss or fuss.
The only thing that seemed strange was that they would not take our latex-based paint cans. In Fairfax County, latex based paints may be disposed of in regular trash, so I'm not sure what the issue was -- it must have been specific to 1-800-GOT-JUNK.
All in all, no complaints -- they did a great job.
Our driveway and backyard is in a narrow alley, and while they were backing up they hit a steel pole that is attached to part of our fence. The cap on the pole fell and broke, which they did hammer back together and replace. After they left I went to further adjust the cap because it was now loose, and discovered that our fence was now separated from our post due to the pressure of their large truck pushing it. The fence, posts and driveway are less than 8 months old. I called and was told the manager was out and to email him. I emailed explaining the circumstances and that I was merely inquiring about their policy on property damage if we could not repair ourselves. I got an initial response saying he was sorry it happened and would talk to the guys. It's been almost a month and I have gotten no response. It's too bad because we are doing a lot of remodeling and could use them again, but it's just not worth their causing property damage and not being responsive when there is a problem.
After the price was agreed upon, I wrote the check. The driver and a helper loaded all the bags and trash into the truck in less than 10 minutes. Amazingly fast !
I gave them an and quot;fairand quot; score of and quot;Cand quot; for price since their website did not indicate the higher charge for construction debris (a surprise) and for punctuality since they arrived and finished after the scheduled appointment time (I had other plans at 6 pm that day). However, due to their professionalism and responsiveness in providing me updates on their arrival status, I would use them again.
