Hometown Tree Experts

The experience was very good. They were reasonable. They did a beautiful job on the trees and it was pretty worth it. They came right on time.

These guys were great and we will use them again! On time, informative, cleaned up and raked-left nothing behind-the lawn was actually cleaner than before they got there. Educated us on the life expectancy of our Japanese Maple, which is on it's last leg. We have loads of trees and future concerns, so they will be hearing from us again!

On 31 Dec, I scheduled an appointment for 6 Jan at 4:30pm to get estimates on tree stump removal, fence replacement, and land/hard-scaping. On 6 Jan at 9:21am, I got an e-mail that read: "We would like to reschedule the appointment for -this afternoon please let me know your availability for either Wed, Thursday or Friday". I called to inquire as to the reason for the change. I was told that the owner would be out on travel and no one else could do the estimate. I under stand that things happen so I schedule another time: 7 Jan at 4:30pm. On 7 Jan at 2:32pm, a mere two hours before the appointment I got an e-mail, yes to cancel, AGAIN. This less than timely notice cited that the "we will be unable to meet later this afternoon due to temps dropping – should have remembered about this yesterday – please let us know what day and time next week will work for you". NEXT WEEK?!?!?! I called yet again called to inquire why no one was able to keep the appointment for estimates and was told that it was too cold to work. Granted I went to work in three (3) degree temperature; it was an estimate not fence installation. The attendant that I spoke with did inform me that she did remind the owners that I was the same customer that they recently cancelled on. But, no one cared...oh well, $20K+ to another contractor. I hate running behind people to spend my hard earned money...that I braved three (3) degree weather to spend on my American Dream.

I had them trim two trees in the front yard, which are technically part of our community association's responsibility to prune, but our entire neighborhood was concerned that the pruning of community trees was long overdue, since over the past 2-3 years, large branches had fallen from several of these trees (not mine) and caused significant damage to cars and property. I didn't want to wait any longer, although the association promised they would prune these trees before the end of the year. I had to call back a few times after the initial estimate was provided onsite to actually get a definite date for doing the work. It took about an hour for four men to perform the work. While at the time I thought the work performed was fine, I really have no basis upon which to judge when a large, 40 year old oak tree is properly pruned. So it was of interest to me that when the community association finally had their own landscapers come to prune the same trees a few months after Hometown came, a number of additional large branches were removed by the association's landscapers from the same trees. That made me wonder if the original pruning several months earlier by Hometown was as thorough as it ought to have been. Again, I have no way of knowing.

Took a few weeks until we were able to get the actual trimming scheduled. But once crew was on site, work was done promptly and professionally. I was able to be home during the work, so asked for a few additional branches to be elevated. They did this without hesitation. Debris was cleared as well.

The service was good. They were very professional. The deal was right on. They did a good job with tree trimming. They didn't leave any mess. The price was fair. It was a good deal. They were responsive. I was very pleased with them. They were right on time.

We bought their Big Deal and we so pleased we hired them to prune two large branches from trees in our backyard, which was done promptly and well. They were cheerful about leaving the decent parts of the branches as firewood too.

It was good. They cleaned up the debris but left some of the saw shavings that ended up getting in my black mulch.

Trimming, thinning and deadwooding of maple in front and backyard. Also, removed 3 lower limbs in front and also trimming of limbs overhanging fence line on left and back lines. They were on time and friendly. They cleaned up everthing before leaving.

I got the ANgie's deal and they removed two trees and topped off 4 more. They were neat, totally cleanedup and removed all trimmings, and did not do any damage to beds which they had to access....Would and will use them again |

It went great. They cleared everything that I wanted cleared. They cleaned up when they were finished. I am happy.

The Hometown office staff wants very much to make sure the customer is happy. We were at the beach when Hometown office staff called to say that they were in our neighborhood and wanted to trim our tree that day 10/25. I said OK. The woman said that if I wasn't satisfied, the company would send the tree person back to my house. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived home three days later. The tree was cut exactly as I requested. Also the cost for the cutting was a little cheaper that 2 other companies I got estimates from.

Went very smoothy and done in a timely manor. They were friendly and courteous. They were very neat and aware of the surrounding plantings and didn't damage them. Job well done!

Arrived on time and did all of the above work in 50 minutes. Cleaned up all their cuttings. Very impressed with their work!

The company rep was running late for initial estimate, and there was some confusion during early email exchanges, but when it came to the actual work, the job was done in a clean, timely, and professional manner.

We had been away from our house for the better part of the day, and when we first saw the trimmed tree we were surprised at the large amount of trimming that was done. However after the manager explained the need to trim it like they did, we were satisfied. Now after living with the well-trimmed tree for a full year we are very glad that it was trimmed like it was. We and the tree are doing very well--we are happy and the tree is healthy.

Estimator came out a couple weeks before job. Discussed what I wanted done. Told me what would encompass about an hour and gave cost for additional work. Once contract signed we arranged an appointment. They did not show up, and did not notify me they were not coming. However, it wasn't a big issue since the arrangement was for them to call a half hour in advance. But I had arranged my entire day to have flexibility, but at least I hadn't taken the day off. Next time they showed up when they said - and gave me the half hour notice. Discussed with crew supervisor what to do based on the contract we had signed a few weeks before. Friendly, knowledgeable crew. I was impressed with the crew. They sent a crew of four, which turned out to be one person too many. Started the 'clock' once supervisor discussed what was to be done in what order. Two people immediately went into my two trees and started working. Two others stood around for at least 15 minutes waiting for their part of the job to start so that is 1/2 manhour I just paid for no work being accomplished (I was clocking them too) - one was supervisor, one was debris gatherer (supervisor did some trimming and gathering). Overall I estimate about one manhour was completely a waste. These two could haved been trimming other trees in my back yard that were on the list while waiting for the two who were up in the trees. However, the crew chose to do the front yard only before moving to the back (and they never got to the back). I guess they had to work in sections even though it meant idle workers. I was pleased with the two tree trimmers - they were constantly working, and of course the gatherers couldn't stand under the trees and gather as stuff was falling). However, just before the 'hour' was up, I told the supervisor it was time to stop working. Well, they didn't. Kept going - one person was still in the tree and he did finish that (only took about 5 min), but I ended up paying an extra $125 for them since they did not 'stop' working until they had completely removed all debris and raked my lawn, which went over the hour timeframe. Yes, they did a nice cleanup job and I do realize the quality of their work is judged by the condition of the job site. However, I didn't feel raking my yard and grinding up the final debris was worth $125, though all four of them were continually working at that point. But I do recommend them for additional work, just be aware there may be more people sent than can efficiently do the job.

I purchased a big deal coupon after a big storm took out a lot of the branches on the three older large trees in our backyard. We wanted to make sure that the trees were safe to be under. After purchasing the coupon I heard back from hometown right away, but then took forever to actually get someone out to do the estimate. Once there, the estimate was quick and painless, but again they took forever to get back to us with a quote. Three weeks later (after we were told a "couple" days) we got our estimate saying they may be able to complete the work that Friday. We made one change- taking off one service- and approved the quote and asked to schedule. I got a call from them saying they were scheduling three-weeks out. At this point we decided we had waited way too long (almost a month from the time we purchased the coupon at this point) and could probably get someone else out there just as quickly for the same price, including coupon so I let them know we wanted to cancel and would like to work with them to get a refund on our already purchased big deal coupon. Miraculously they were suddenly available at the end of the week again. I don't mind when a service provider is backed up on scheduling, but we were never told what was happening or how soon they might even be able to look at a calendar with us to schedule something. Once we were over dealing with the disaster that is their scheduling office, the rest of the service went very well. The workers that came were professional and worked very quickly (in fact they had cleaned up and were about to leave before I even realized they were done). All of the debris was completely removed and our lawn furniture etc. was all put back exactly the way it was when they started. There were a few nicks on some of the branches that were not removed, but other than that, we were pleased with the look of our trees. I would not go back to Hometown because of the headache with scheduling, but for those more patient than I, their service was actually what I expected for the price.

They did a good job. I've used Hometown before, so when I saw that the "special deal" was offered by them, and I had some necessary tree work, I jumped at it!

Fairly well. The orignial contact was very professional, comprehensive and flexible. The follow up from their office, insofar as contracts, etc., was excellent. The supervisor on our job when the crew came out seemed not as good. He had been with a competitor tree service and spent time bad-mouthing his former company (not very professional). Then, after he'd been walked through the job with trees pointed out to be trimmed, they took some additional work for my neighbor (very nice) and ultimately missed a few of the trees on our job. Overall, the work they did was done well. To get an Excellent rating, and for me to use them again, I'd be looking for a different crew chief.

They (4 men) came on time and worked together to take down and prunes several large trees that had storm damage.

Tree service was excellence. The scheduling was poor ... I had to follow up with vendor several times to schedule work. The vendor should not make excuses for not following up with customer. Otherwise, the men onsite did an outstanding job. Rated B because of customer service and not quality of work.
