WE HELP U MOVE

Appraisal Real Estate Service, In-State Moving Service, Out-of-State Moving Service,

About us

WE HELP-U-MOVE, INC. is a Full Service and Independently Owned Moving Company. It was founded by Nicholas Walker of Frederick, Maryland in June of 1994. In October 1998, WE HELP-U-MOVE incorporated. Mr. Walker has been in the moving industry since 1987. He has worked for both small independent moving companies as well as the major van lines. Experiencing both entities, Mr. Walker opened WE HELP-U-MOVE in 1994 looking for the Quality and commitment he experienced growing up in the middle of Kansas - where QUALITY came before QUANTITY. Mr. Walker served with the United States Air Force, Electronic Security Command and has a background in Cryptography in the Intelligence Field. The most exciting moving adventure Nicholas was involved in was dismantling and transporting pieces of the Berlin Wall from Germany to Dulles Airport in 1989. This was for a Broadcasting Company in Chevy Chase, MD. The 1,000 pound pieces he brought back were cutup and distributed to radio stations nation wide for the promotion "If you're the 10th caller, you get a piece of the Berlin Wall!" WE HELP-U-MOVE stays involved with the Alzheimer's Association and other non-profit organizations. Mr. Walker was instrumental in gathering donations for the Hurricane Hugo Disaster Relief Project. It is the goal of Nicholas Walker to revolutionize the Moving Industry - to put QUALITY back into it's reputation and to decrease the Cost of Moving for the Customer.

awful--packing not completed on day promised; boxes mislabeled or not labeled at all; walls of house were marked; household items missing; no list provided of numbered boxes; email requests for promised donation receipts only received once although we were promised that we would receive receipts from charities who received our donations which included a 1/2 truck and that one received receipt required multiple requests of charity names; estimate for move was over far over estimate. Bed not properly reassembled; move underestimated by owner by approximately $1,000.

The workers were very professional and likeable. Only minor damage was noted. When the job was completed were charged $1,175 more than we were quoted. Ownership finally responded to my complaints after posting review and making a complaint with the BBB. Ownership has refunded the disputed charge, I am now satisfied.

We were moving into a new home and the closing date was for ever changing. Trying to get in touch with them to reschedule was the hardest part of this move. We left messages and had no response. Finally got in touch with them and everything was fine. Until it was time to move. The moving day was at the tail end of Hurricane Sandy. I called the office the day before the move and they said we were still on schedule to move. The day of the move we waited for movers and after 45 minutes of the scheduled time to show, we called the office and were told that some of the guys were unable to get to the office due to the storm and they were hunting down a couple of other people. Okay that's understandable.
Once they showed up, I have to say I was impressed. They got right to work and had the townhouse loaded and on the road in a little over 2 hours. We drove an hour to the new house and we had to wait for the construction crews to move vehicles so they could get the truck in the driveway to unload. Once that was done, they once again got right to work. They had the truck unloaded in about an hour. Granted everything was unloaded into the basement not up the stairs into the house as the house wasn't finished.
It appears that all of the boxes made it with no damage. However we haven't opened any of them yet and won't for a few days. But looks like everything is fine. Furniture made it without any bumps or bruises.
The 3 man crew we had were nothing but professional and hard workers. I'd hire them again if I should ever have to move again.

Only showed up with two guys for a large house. Three more showed up several hours later. When they were done, I realized that my jewelry had been hidden under a dresser they had moved and it was gone. Everything that my grandmothers had left me and everything my husband had gotten me while he was deployed overseas (military) was gone. I emailed Nicholas (owner) and left messages at the office and NEVER heard from them. (These messages were all non-accusatory, just looking for information on if the crew saw it.) The guys had boxed up a few things that they had found (shoes under the bed, etc) so I hoped that my jewelry had been thrown in and waited until I arrived in our new home and unpacked. Still no jewelry and STILL NO CONTACT FROM THEM A MONTH LATER. I wrote an admittedly irate and accusatory email to the owner and FINALLY he responds with attitude and sarcasm. We had told him that we were going to complain to the military so that he wouldn't get a government contract again and he said he didn't care because he was a sub-contractor and the military had no control over it. The five guys who were working at my house were George, Manny, Danny, Freddy, and Peter. I never heard from any of them in response to my inquiries. To make matters worse, when all of our furniture was unpacked, OVER HALF of it was damaged, much beyond hope of repair. They had simply wrapped furniture in paper and told me that this paper was enough to protect it. We have moved many times with the military, and every other company has used bubble wrap and blankets and other padding. With only paper as a cushion, We Help-U-Move then piled all the furniture on top of each other and there were many gouged and broken items. Another company unloaded at my new home and they were shocked at how much damage there was. I had a bad feeling when these guys showed up in an unprofessional, hand-lettered van and I should have sent them away. But I figured if the military had sent them, they must be OK. (Actually, it was the other contractor that sent them.) I would never let this company or these men anywhere near my home or my family again.

Nicholas, the owner, came out to our apartment and gave us an estimate. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He gave us some advice on packing out stuff, and he did not charge extra for the move being on a holiday weekend. On the day of the move, three men arrived promptly at our apartment which they loaded efficiently, and then they went and loaded some items (furniture and boxes) from a storage unit. The moving team worked quickly unloading at our new house. They were friendly and professional, and they had a great attitude despite the three-story house! The move took about 6 hours total, and none of the furniture was damaged at the end. We had a great experience with We Help You Move, and we would definitely use them again in the future.

I had a very good experience with this company because they did everything right and took good care the things they were moving. One of the things I also liked about this crew was their punctuality. They came right away after I called them.

THEY WERE VERY NICE. THEY WORKED HARD FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THEY HAD TO BE ASKED TO TAKE A SMALL BREAK TO EAT. THEY WERE VERY NICE BUT WERE NOT SUPER CAREFUL
