As a follow-up to a refinancing of our home mortgage which Alex arranged for us (already reviewed), he volunteered to help us with a home equity loan. I have used Alex in the past for a couple of refinances and when we planned to refinance our investment property I called him again. Alex was quick to pull together all the information he needed from multiple parties to get us a quote. In the end we decided to sell the property and not refinance but had we decided to refinance Alex had us ready to go.

They were excellent. It was for my house but we ended up not doing it because we just want to keep equity in our home.

Alex got me a quote over the weekend and was very response throughout the process. He honored a float down for no extra cost, and even sent a check for the difference in lender credits. Not too many loan officers will do that!! He is extremely laid back on the phone (opposite of the fast talkers) and will honestly answer and help with any question or concern. Know this, there are a lot of salespeople in the mortgage industry and many of them know very little about he very substance of what they're selling, we've all heard their double-talk and back-peddling. Alex knows his products and the guidelines cold and speaks very intelligently about them. I never had any concern that what was promised would not be delivered and true to his word, got exactly what we had discussed. No inflated fees, no padded numbers. I wouldn't recommend my friends and family to anyone other than Alex.

Working with Eagle Creek Mortgage, and specifically Alex and Annie (Alex's assistant) was great. I needed cash out refinancing. After researching Angie's List, zillow.com and references provided by friends, I narrowed my choices to four lenders/brokers. I contacted all four. Frankly, all four were responsive. But Alex was by far the most responsive. He did the initial analysis of my needs over the weekend. Not all of the other three did that. Rather than have me fill out a detailed application (and probably make several errors in the process) he did his own research into my finances and spotted things that I would have missed. He is a mortgage broker and not a mortgage lender. I was hoping to work with a broker, having had an extremely bad experience recently with a mortgage lender from a major bank. By the way, my credit is very good, and in both cases I was looking for a loan amount that was well within my means. I know there are pros and cons regarding both lenders and brokers, and I know some lenders do have an ability to contact other lenders when appropriate. But in my opinion the major advantage that a broker has is that the broker is interested in making the deal happen, because the broker only gets paid if the deal takes place. The previous disastrous lender I had worked with was simply not at all interested in making things happen. In fact the concerned loan officer was simply a cog in the wheel of a big bank and one of the worst professionals I have worked with. I'm very, very glad I went with a mortgage broker and Alex in particular. Everything went smoothly. It took about a month end-to-end. Alex is very, very accessible, and works extremely quickly. He is also very helpful and professional. Some might find his style a little too practical and to the point, but I for one enjoyed working with someone who clearly knew his subject and was always there for anything I might need. Since I plan to live in this area for a while, I now know who to go to for all my mortgage and associated needs. For completeness I should mention that I was not happy with my home appraisal (I found the appraisal report riddled with errors and sometimes almost reverse engineered to meet a number), but it didn't really matter because the appraised value was still sufficient for the loan, as Annie indicated. I should also mention that the amount I have filled in for the cost of service is not the loan amount but my loan origination cost. Finally, I'm providing Eagle Creek's address below instead of my own when the review template asks where the work was done, because I don't want to share my home address. In reality, the work took place at my home or workplace via e-mail or phone, and the closing took place at my home.

I cannot say enough about this company and in particular, Alex, my loan officer. I originally contacted Eagle Creek to get preapproved before beginning my property search. Alex contacted me immediately and got me through the initial application process securing all the documents required. He made a recommendation of a realtor, but at the time I was working with another agent I was comfortable with. Or so I thought. After several viewings of properties that were not what I was looking for, a co worker suggested another realtor. I contacted her and again, was very disappointed with her level of professionalism and service. I put a halt to my search. I then discovered that the condo I was currently leasing was being sold by the owner at the end of my lease. I began my search again. I came across a condo in the Clarksburg area and it was having an open house. My daughter and I went to the open house and fell in love with the unit. I contacted Alex immediately. It was a Sunday so I was not expecting him to get back to me until the following Monday. I was surprised when he actually called me back later that evening. He encouraged me to get a realtor (and recommended one) that would be working in my best interest and not for me to work with the listing agent holding the open house. That was the best advice anyone could have given me. The agent he recommended was fabulous, but I would not have worked with her without the advice from Alex. Alex has been great. Very responsive, very professional, always willing to answer any questions. He even came to my residence to get some papers signed to get the process moving instead of me going to his office, which was just down the road from me. The first thing Alex did was to dissuade me from trying to refinance only my first mortgage. I wasn't sure of what my home's value would be and a different lender suggested I refi the first only and use the savings to make extra payments against the second. The problem with that plan was that the second had a high interest rate and a balloon. Alex was confident we could take care of both, and he was right. Alex quickly quoted a 4.5% rate and sent me the GFE and application promptly, which I returned to him. Alex explained the ins and outs of private mortgage insurance, which we figured I would need. I had no experience with refinancing, so he also answered my questions about the process and the charges that would apply. When the application package was submitted to the lender, there was some kind of problem that required me to reprint and re-sign all the documents. I wasn't too happy about that because I didn't have much spare time, I didn't understand the reason, and I dislike doing tedious tasks over again. Alex was apologetic, which I appreciated. In the end, it wasn't a big deal. My appraisal came through much higher than expected, which was a happy surprise. We were able to drop the PMI which reduced the payment even further. I had a few more questions about charges at settlement time. I didn't have to pay any closing costs, even though I wanted to. (I don't believe in paying interest on settlement charges.) Alex explained the charges and the refund I was getting due to the high appraisal. I'll simply return the refund and pay the charges by sending a payment toward principal. The loan funded a week later, the entire process taking just over a month. I was very busy during that time and wasn't always responsive, but Alex took it in stride and got the job done efficiently. We did the entire thing via email and telephone, which I liked. The only meetings I had to schedule were with the appraiser and the settlement company. Thank you, Eagle Creek Mortgage!

Paperwork was very simple, Alex handled all the details, and my refi was done in less than three weeks. I also had shopped around to a number of companies, and Alex offered the best rate, and the best overall package. I was also very pleased with the appraiser and closing company he recommended. I had started the process over the summer, and had to withdraw my application due to a layoff, and Alex was very understanding. I am really glad I had Alex from Eagle Creek Mortgage help me getting a mortgage for my first home. I learned about Eagle Creek Mortgage from Angie?s list and was impressed with all the stellar reviews. When I initially contacted a few lenders/brokers, Alex was the first to respond and quoted me good rates with low closing costs, even better than those quoted by brokers recommended by my agent. After I decided to go with Eagle Creek for my mortgage, Alex remained in close contact and was ever patient in answering all the questions I had as a first-time home buyer. He also went out of his way to make sure closing is on time during the holiday season (I first contacted him week before Thanksgiving and I needed to close by 12/20) while accommodating my pre-scheduled travel plans (I was out of the country for ten days during this time). When I got the final HUD1 day before closing I noticed that the origination fee is about $1,400 higher than initially quoted. When I brought this up with Alex, he stated that the lender had to change the lending program and he was also just notified. He apologized for the last minute change and offered to reimburse me for the difference. Sure enough I got a check in the mail from Eagle Creek a few days later. He proved to be a man of his word and I would not hesitate to recommend such a professional with integrity to any potential home buyers.
