They did a good job and we are happy with the job they did.

Tim (and Pat) are just the greatest guys. Very knowledgeable, very nice to work with. Workmanship was excellent - the water damage and ceiling patch are invisible. They were very responsive when lamplight showed water damage that was not initially visible during the day. They came back and made sure the job was done perfectly. I had a tricky door look/deadbolt (keyless entry) to install, and they made sure it was working although it was a retro-fit on an existing door. Tim stepped in when I had an emergency (kitchen measurements needed to be re-checked last minute to get the cabinet order in by Labor Day) and I will appreciate him going the extra mile.
Really good guys, great professionals.

Tim Smith (the owner) and his team have done a lot of work for me over the years, both at my commercial office building and my home.
This particular job involved a variety of different things, including demo of an existing porch roof, rebuilding of a cantilevered porch (floor, ceiling, supports), addition of a fence, pouring concrete and adding bilco doors. This was on an historic home built in 1902, always an interesting task.
The guys (Rick and Patrick) did quality work and were very friendly. They are great carpenters, but their knowledge runs much deeper than that.
They demo'd a porch that was compromised, and repaired areas of rotting wood on the floor and ceiling of the portion of the porch that was left. They added support beams underneath to ensure the porch deck would hold any weight that was put on it. Before they started, you could see the deck move significantly when a 150-lb guy bounced on it--now, it does not move at all. And it looks brand new. There were also several rotting window sills (the wooden historic kind) that they removed and replaced properly.
They poured concrete around the entrance to my basement to place a new Bilco door on, which looks 100 times better than what we had before.
In addition to all this, they also insulated our attic and properly vented a bathroom fan. I can tell you the house is much warmer now as well!
They also performed some miscellaneous handyman tasks inside.
My only complaint is the cleanup was not perfect...I did find a few nails in my yard where they had been cutting lumber.
The price was fair for the amount of work, and Tim always made sure he made things right with regard to little things that we noticed afterwards, and did not nickel and dime us.
I've used Big Al's many times before and I will continue to use them. I would highly recommend them, as Tim is both honest and wants to do right by his customers.
