00 I spent THREE days calling the Woodbridge phone number for assistance. Either the phone was constantly busy or you were shuttled to a mailbox that was either full or not working. A big round about. I left messages on several phone numbers. No response. Finally, called and asked for sales and wow...they were available to pick up the phone. After a few transfers, I got to a woman at the desk who bounced the problem to her manager. Manager offered a store credit. Since I'm never shopping there again, that didn't work for me at all. I'm now waiting for "corporate" to respond to my request. When will companies learn that treating people poorly affects their sales? I'm a real estate agent and obviously the "go to" person to help buyers find furniture, etc. for their new homes. Guess who I will not only NOT be recommending, but will actively steer them clear of? All this for a $100 mattress pad.
Description of Work: I ordered bedroom furniture from Ashley Furniture in Woodbridge for my mother who was moving into independent living. Although prices were reasonable, I still felt taken advance of when I saw FREE shipping in a newsletter ad. I had to call and make them credit the shipping cost. Delivery went smoothly,, except they did not bring the expensive mattress pad on the order. I had to go out and buy one in order to make the bed.

Description of Work: Very hard core sales tactics. The salesmen keep saying his manager was there from the "main office" and he could possibly sweeten our deal, but that he was only there for a short time. It felt very much like a used car dealer. The fact is it scared us off when we my have been interested otherwise. We will not go back.

Description of Work: Bought new couches. Service people tend to prey on you, but if you learn the name of one you like and always ask for that person, service is good. Price was right and delivery was included. Quality of couches was also good.

The woman who the delivery people call before they left said it was on backorder and that I would have to call customer service. I call customer service and they tell me the chest is not listed on the original order form. When I ask what can be done about this, Linda, tells me that Bobby said that we can order the chest for you for $546 which is a really good deal because it is originally $1100 (I found it on amazon later that day for under $400 from another furniture dealer - same exact one and free shipping!). I then let them know that I would like to return everything and they said that is not possible. Ashley Furniture is an absolute joke and have the dirtiest sales people around.
Description of Work: Ashley Furniture is by far the worst place to purchase furniture. We were totally duped by our sales association Fred Flewelling in Frederick Maryland. We went into the store on a snowy day and found a bedroom set we liked. We specifically told him we wanted the bed, dresser and mirror and the chest of drawers. He told us the price and then let us know there was room for negotiating. I told him the price I was thinking based on another bedroom set we liked at another store. He then went to his manager, Bobby Lapage, who approved the price. He then drew up the paperwork listing each item as a number on the sheet and telling us that one was the bed, one was the dresser/mirror and the other was the chest. We signed. Delivery day comes, no chest.

Description of Work: Last year we bought a sofa from Ashley Furniture. It was never quite right. We had the repairman come several times and now it looks worse. A few days ago some springs broke and we sink into the sofa. Ashley said that we are out of warranty. You can't speak to anyone to complain. I recommend to not buy from them Instead, for medium=priced furniture you can go across the street to Ikea (Woodbridge, VA) I will try to have the repair fixed through my American Express Extended Warranty. Still, the feeling of "who are you?" the second you take delivery is very disconcerting. It is best to just stay away from Ashley.

I bought a sofa from this store on 1 February 2009. It was supposed to be delivered in 6 to 8 weeks. On about 1 April, I received a phone call from the delivery department that my sofa would probably be delivered in the middle of April. I went to the Ashley store around the second week of May to complain that I still had no sofa and not one word as to when it will be delivered. I was told by an employee named Felicia (sp?) in the delivery department that the sofa I ordered was "available, but not released". I asked her when I could expect delivery. She could not tell me a specific date, but expected it to be "soon". I was not happy, but I decided to keep the order in hopes that I would hear something soon. On Sunday, 31 May, having still heard nothing, I went back to the store and spoke to the manager, Lori Leatherman. As an aside, I find it interesting that there was a couple already there talking to Lori who had the exact same problem I had. I spoke to Lori, who looked up my order, ensured that she had my number, told me that she would contact the appropriate folks in her company to find out what was wrong and get back to me no later than the upcoming Wednesday. She asked, "Can you hold on until Wednesday?" which I agreed to do. I left the store believing that maybe I was finally getting somewhere. Wednesay came and went with no word from Lori. Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Zippo. I finally got sick and tired of waiting and went to the store to talk to Lori again. Her answer? "I haven't heard anything from them." Since it was obvious that Lori had not done anything, my response to her was, "Cancel my order." which they did in a very professional manner. I'm sure they have lots of practice. This is another case of when everyone is very, very polite, but they simply do nothing out of the ordinary to help a customer. Ashley has lost my business forever. Good job, Ashley Furniture!
