Dan Hohman's crew are a remarkably hard-working and highly skilled team of artisans and craftsmen. In adition to a superb work ethic, they demonstrated mastery of copper cutting and installlation, and slate-cutting and installation., Daily clean-up was impeccable. The result is a gorgeous roof which has substantially increased the value of our property. Dan himself was a pleasure to work with\, and was always available quickly (within hours or immediately) by cellphone and by email/

The only experience with Hohman was both costly and not-guaranteed. Do get a service/permormance guarantee in writing before any payment with this company.

The men were very professional, did not make a mess, cleaned up everyday, were prompt and polite. I also got another estimate from another roofer but they were unable to do the stucco work so I obtained a separate estimate for that. Those two estimates were within $100 of the estimate from D.C. Hohman and I thought it made sense to have only one company doing the work. It took approximately one month to complete the work as it was a very big job. I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to others.

I would recommend him. I liked that he had a company that had been in business for a while. He also offered us warranty which definitely stood out. Not every roofer gives out warranty.

After fixing several leaks on my old slate roof, my wife and I decided it was time to start looking at getting a new roof. The first estimate we got was from Fick Brothers, which was a complete waste of time. They quoted us $18,000 for a new roof, which they even admitted was an easy roof to do. We have had other contractors who have even implied, yet not outright stated, that Fick Brothers is a rip off.

The next company we got an estimate from was Turner Roofing. They came in at a much more reasonable $7,000. They offered a company warranty of 5 years. They've actually done many roofs in the Rodgers Forge area.

The last company we got an estimate from was D.C. Hohman. He offered a company warranty of 10 years. He gave the lowest estimate of $6700, but also let us know that he would be installing the roof and quot;by the bookand quot; and even showed us the manual that CertainTeed wrote. Apparently you won't get the 50-year manufacturers warranty from CertainTeed unless installation is done exactly right. D.C. Hohman told us that his company only uses their own employees, and don't contract their work out. I was also told that his workers are fully insured. On the initial estimate, I met both D.C. Hohman, the owner, and one of his foreman. After sending in my 1/3 deposit, the date was scheduled. The work took 2 days, and I haven't had any problems yet. I haven't yet received my warranty from CertainTeed and called D.C. Hohman about this, but this is apparently CertainTeed's hold up and not D.C. Hohman's.

I got the impression that the people in D.C. Hohman's company are true roofing professionals and I would recommend them.

Rain water was leaking into the attic down the outside of the chimney. During the estimate by Mr. Hohman, pictures of the chimney were taken, and shown to me. The mortar was crumbling, moss was growing in it. The cap had been painted with an unknown substance and the flashing had been improperly "repaired" by a chimney sweep company, Their estimate was a little high, but their work had been praised by two other customers I had contacted independently. They make a point that they use their own employees. At contract signing a discount was applied because they said they had a promotion starting in the near future. Work began in a few weeks as promised and was finished in a few days. The workmen were prompt, polite, and professional. They cleaned up after themselves each day. Mr. Hohman checked the work on the last day. There have been no leaks since the work was done even after a very heavy sustained downpour. I'd use this company again and would recommend them.

We have not made any decisions yet. DC Hohman had one of the highest estimates. Our housing inspector had come up with a much lower count of slates that needed to be replaced, as did another roofer who actually climbed onto the roof. This estimator didn't climb on the roof, but he took photographs and talked with me about what needed to be done. He was friendly and personable. He seemed very knowledgeable. The price struck us as a little high.

The service leading up to the work was fantastic. The owner was in touch to schedule everything and the quote was very detailed, which laid out everything. The work too was great and I was happy with them.
