were told that the job would take anywhere from 2-3 days to complete and work was scheduled to begin July 7, 2014.
Long story short?the completion date for this job was September 29, 2014.
We ran into so many issues with this company and learned that you definitely get what you pay for.
The quote we received was cheaper than the others and we paid for it ?
Just to list a few of the issues we experienced:
When trying to squeeze into a tight space to drill in the basement they hit a gas line. When I went downstairs to address the gas smell that had now infiltrated the entire upstairs they lied about it and stated they
didn?t do it. They turned the gas off and attempted to fix it with a water gasket?gas still leaking in home for hours. Finally late that evening, I had to call emergency hotline at midnight to come and address the leaking gas. We hired our own plumber to come out and fix correctly to eliminate the danger in our home?Floodbusters covered the cost of
this repair.
The installed PVC pipes ?running the water from the sump pump to the outside of the home?leaked for days and sagged due to the amount of water in them, tract system leaked, the sump pump did not working and drain properly.
They mixed cement on the basement carpet, tracked oil on the carpet and when attempting to determine where the leaks were in the tract system, they ran a hose and ruined the carpet and padding in certain areas?soaking and then laying it back down?attempting to hide what they had done. The carpet is now ruined and needs to be replaced?the owner would only cover the cost to have it cleaned.
When bringing equipment and boards to the basement they scratched the ceiling tile
During the time of the quote we were told that Floodbusters would cut the finished basement wall s approximately 2-3 inches and slide the tract system up and under the wall to hide the plastic tract. During the 1st day on the job the finished basement walls had been cut too high approx. 5 inches and there was a 2-3 in gap between the tract system and the wall. This is where the lying began?the mistake is unsightly and ruined the finished basement walls?not only do we now have to replace the carpet we now need ?at some point- to have new dry wall hung throughout. Floodbusters ?fixed? the wall that they had cut incorrect but installing a tract of 4x4?s?apparently this was extra work according to Floodbusters because they ?went above and beyond? to do this for us?please note my sarcasm.
They cut wood and board on top on my washing machine, dryer and deep freezer?leaving a filthy mess where I do laundry for my family?and left for the day --leaving it there for me to find and clean.
When getting ready to install the sump pump they had to jack hammer the basement floor foundation and drilled the hole for sump pump in the wrong spot
The hole for the PVC pipe to take the water from the sump pump to the outside of the home?a hole in the foundation wall?drilled the hole in the wrong spot
Removed washing machine drain pipe and did not replace it? went down to do a load of laundry after the 1st day they were there to find the washing machine had drained all over the floor?I received an apology
They originally thought they would need to remove the laundry sink to install some of the tract system and they removed the pipe to laundry sink and did not re-install it correctly -- the laundry sink was now leaking. When confronted they were so
confused and couldn?t imagine they were responsible for this.
In order to get closer to the wall, they unplugged basement freezer and never plugged back in-lost hundreds of dollars of food
Consistent leaks in the tract system for weeks-they had to come out to our home over and over to repair
Hired to clean, disinfect and treat mold on walls ?when asked, they stated this work was completed but there was still a film on the walls and cob webs where they were supposed to have cleaned?no cleaning or treatment was done. They stated they would do it again and it still wasn't done and no treatment was applied.
All in all, this was one of the worst experiences?not only did this nightmare go on for months, the owner and staff were unprofessional, raising their voices, threatening, disrespectful and lied to cover themselves. They caused more damage to my home then when we started. I?m hoping I can help prevent someone else from dealing with the hassle of working with this company and having to pay them for work well below the minimum standards. Please please rethink working with this company-save yourself!
"There were problems that we had encountered during this job that didn't go towards our favor. At the end, we did a lot of extra work on the inside and outside to repair our errors at no cost. We paid them for the extra services we caused and reduced the price of the job. It was frustrating for scheduling where it took almost a month at one time to do the extra work. At the end of the job, we offered to come back and inspect the work so nothing is missed or done incorrectly."
However, there was really only one person doing 90% of the work. The work he completed was satisfactory. As for the other guys on the crew, they were either doing "go for" work or no work at all. The one guy doing no work was supposedly doing "mold remediation." He was just taking a sponge and wiping a wall.
The owner was knowledgeable, but not really hands on. He would check on the work that the one guy did.
As I mentioned before, they didn't complete the job upon my request.
"We are disappointed to only get a B rating from the homeowner. Homeowner was very happy when we left his property after 1st part of work was completed. We did have a new employee in training that was still learning. After the walls were taken down the cracks we found turned out to be more detrimental to the structure of the home than originally thought and homeowner wanted additional work to correct this, but at a future date. We had tried to contact Pat King but never heard anything back in regards to resuming planned additional work. In my professional opinion, if not repaired this will continue to deteriorate the structure of the home."
