Well... it's tight quarters - a small townhome utility room with a washer and drying and a ton of tools (carpentry, car, mechanical) to be placed. Not an easy job. Lots of ingenuity, measuring (space constraints) and patience required. Nelson maintained constant contact with me. He brought his ideas and I brought mine and together, remarkably - sturdy, ample shelving was crafted, cork boards installed and all within an agreed upon price. Would I use Peak services again - heck yeah! His team is a hardworking, respectful crew.

Our experience with Nelson was great. He made periodic visits to the job insuring everything was satisfactory. His lead on our job, Josh was exceptional. Communicated with us on every aspect of the renovation. The subcontractors that were used were all excellent craftsmen. Everyone on this job was extremely professional. Our bathroom turned out absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend this company!

We enjoyed working with the team from the design phase through execution. The project went very smoothly, communication was excellent, and the carpentry team was wonderful. The first day, they put down protective floor coverings and walled off areas with plastic while they were working, which kept the house very clean. The small crew was incredibly polite and respectful - they even tolerated our enthusiastic dog helper. The tile work looks amazing, the custom carpentry is fabulous, and we couldn't be more pleased with the overall execution of the remodeling. We're doing the kitchen next!

Nelson and his team designed and constructed a large built-in that's serving as the centerpiece of our new home theater sports room. Nelson incorporated every suggestion we made as part of the collaborative design process managing to stay very close to the original estimate which, compared to other contractors' estimates we obtained, was very fair and reasonable. Sheldon led the construction and did an excellent job building the piece on-site taking care to be very considerate and respectful of our property and schedules. The painting contractor used by Nelson did a good job on the unit but left some overspray and drip spots on our carpeting. Nelson committed to do whatever was necessary to make the carpet right again offering to pay for a professional cleaning service. Fortunately, the painter was able to address the spots with some mild soap and elbow grease but we appreciated that Nelson held himself and his painter accountable until the job and cleanup were done to our satisfaction. We will definitely call Peak Carpentry for our next remodeling project and recommend Peak to friends for their home improvements.

We had an exceptional experience with Peak Carpentry and its employees. Owner Nelson Laur responded to our initial inquiry within one business day. He carefully reviewed our project description and made an appointment to meet with us the following week. He brought along one of his partners (a rep from Columbia-base Cabinet Discounters) to inspect our kitchen and discuss the project in more detail. It was apparent from this first meeting that Nelson was an excellent communicator who wanted our business and would be easy to work with. Within two weeks he e-mailed us a detailed estimate for the project, which we accepted after comparing it against offers from several other area contractors.
As the projected start date drew closer, we decided to scale back the scope of our project just a bit.  Nelson understood our position and offered a number of helpful suggestions on how to control costs and still get the kitchen we wanted. His cost and scheduling estimates were right on target. The final amount was only $900 over the initial estimate (due to some electrical issues detected after demolition).  The project also started on time and ended two days ahead of schedule.
Living through a kitchen renovation is seldom a pleasant experience, but Nelson and his team did everything in their power to minimize disruptions and surprises.  He regularly communicated with us via email and phone, each time conveying the key details (who, what, why, and when) ahead of time. Questions were always answered within a matter of hours. His employees and subcontractors were also very easy to work with. The project foreman showed up each day around the same time (~7 AM) to get the subs started. Regardless of who was there on a given day (electrician, painters, flooring crew, etc.), they worked quickly and were almost always done by 3 PM.
The final result was exactly what we had been hoping for: a modern-looking kitchen with significantly greater cabinet space, more room to move, and a pleasant aesthetic. That we got this result on schedule with 'no drama' of any kind is a testament to the skill, craftsmanship, and people skills of Nelson and Peak Carpentry.

Day 1 - Demo day. Nelson and his team arrived at the planned start time 9:30am despite very foul icy rainy weather. Unloaded truck of new materials and tools. Staged new materials in our kitchen after first asking. Demoed old shower. Cleared space back to the studs and down to the subfloor. Cleaned and vacuumed the space - it looked like new construction. When done they asked me and my wife to guide them as to exact placement of the two new recessed soap bottle shelf units. Also placement of safety handhold bars. We discussed height of shower surround panels and they agreed to keep the reveal space even on front edges and between panel top edges and ceiling. Sheldon and Josh are both first class contractors very courteous working quickly and neatly. Vacuumed constantly to keep dust almost negligible. Removed all demo debris. Left at 1:30pm. Day 2 - Nelson, Sheldon and Josh arrived 7:30am as promised. Today they installed the plumbing for the new shower fixtures. Also cut and added some blocking in the framing to accommodate the plumbing and the safety handholds. Tested the finished plumbing. All ok. Cleaned up meticulously vacuuming everywhere. Removed tools and all debris. Left at about 3:30pm. Day 3 - Sheldon and Josh arrived promptly at 7:30am and worked thru to mid afternoon. Installed additional blocking in the framing to handle hand hold bars and recessed shelves. Mounted the shower pan and Durock cement board. Started to measure and cut Swanstone wall panels. Cleaned up and left by 3:30pm. Day 4 - continued cutting and fitting Swanstone panels. At end of day the panels were blocked in place but not yet attached. Day 5 - Sheldon worked on Saturday to complete attaching the wall panels. With the recessed shelves and the intricate shower fixtures it was a tedious job but they did great. By the end of the day Sheldon had not only glued the panels into place, he had cut and placed several dozen pieces of temporary 2x4 blocking to hold the panels against the Durock while the adhesive set up. Day 6 - the blocking was removed since the panel adhesive was set. Sheldon next installed 2x4 horizontal blocking underneath the wide overhanging front edge of the Kohler porcelain cast iron shower pan. This provided a surface against which the ceramic base tile (to match the rest of the bathroom would be installed. Day 7 - Nelson brought in painting subcontractors to paint the ceiling over the shower area and adjacent wall sections to match the rest of the room. I had cans of original paint so the match was perfect. As a bonus they spotted a crack in a section of nearby wall at the ceiling joint. They offered to repair that and paint it and I asked them to also repair several ceiling nail pops in the hall bathroom. They quoted a super price for the repairs so I had Nelson add it to the contract price. They did excellent repairs and painting trim work. Day 8 - no work. Waiting for ceramic bullnose and base tiles to arrive. Day 9 - Nelson, Sheldon, and Andy (tile installer) arrived a bit later in morning as I had requested. Today they installed the ceramic trim tile and also grouted it. When they left in the afternoon the job was completely done. I had contracted a separate glass contractor for the frameless shower door only because I knew them from previous glass work. I am confident that Nelson would provide a first class door had I asked him to include it in the job. He uses a very good local supplier. Peak Carpentry did a great job on an intricate but complete master shower renovation. We think the finished quality is top notch and are extremely pleased. We have already asked them back to replace our home's three entry doors and also finish our unfinished basement. We will report on those two jobs when they are completed. We highly recommend Peak Carpentry for your interior remodel and renovation work.

We had the best experience with Peak Cabinetry from start to finish. Their professionalism, adherence to their schedule, workmanship, and quality are top notch. We could not be happier. Their price was fair - not cheap, but a great deal for the quality. No one wants a kitchen renovation stretched out ? so it was worth it to us to find a quality company. We got 3 estimates to gut our kitchen and take down the wall between our dining room and kitchen area. When Nelson Laur came for the estimate, we liked him right away. He demonstrated excitement about our project and started digging around the house to see if we could do what we wanted to do. A huge benefit is that Nelson works with a designer from Cabinet Discounters to design your kitchen. Between Nelson?s building experience and Teresa Carney?s design, we came up with a great plan that we could never have come up with on our own. Peak Cabinetry even finished ahead of schedule, despite us adding work to the original contract and running into unexpected plumbing issues. Nelson is a great guy and clearly loves what he does. He also came up with a very clever and cost-savings idea to fix a duct work problem. He has a great team working for him and only selects the best companies to work with ? from countertops to flooring to painters. They cleaned up after every day, were very communicative, and thought of everything. We were so impressed that my in-laws are now having them do their kitchen. I can?t say enough good things. They delivered a beautiful kitchen beyond our expectations.

Our job went extremely well. Nelson and his crew were prompt (7 am start) and worked consistently through to completion of the job. No interruptions or delays. Workmanship was excellent. The painters were the best I?ve ever encountered; precise, careful and thorough.

This is a professional outfit run by a guy who takes great pride in his workmanship regardless of the size of the job and who has managed to find a crew that shares that philosophy.

Nelson and his crew were FABULOUS. I recommend Peak Carpentry without any reservations whatsoever. They did amazing work --  meticulous and detail-oriented, just exactly what you want from a contractor. They showed up on time every time, when I had a question it was always answered promptly. The crew was completely professional, trustworthy, and took enormous pride in their work -- with good reason. Nelson told me ahead of time what his schedule would be and it was accurate to the moment. There was minimal disruption in my house (given the size of the job), they cleaned up every night so I wasn't walking through mess. He let me know when something I'd selected was going to result in an up-charge in time for me to change my mind if I wanted. And when I made a bad decision and needed to change something he was helpful and  supportive. My final price was just what I expected, no surprises. I'll never use another contractor.

If you want a professional with a great crew to do your remodel, look no further. Nelson at Peak Carpentry was a pleasure to work with and did a fantastic job exceeding our expectations.
We wanted to remodel our kitchen, 2 baths and replace old sliding doors in our ranch style home. We met with several other contractors and discussed our project, but we were concerned about how to coordinate all the different parts (demo, planning, appliance delivery, floors, electical and plumbing, etc) and how to manage a several week project with our older Labrador in the house. When we talked to Nelson we were impressed with his attention to detail, specific questions and advice, and knowledge and experience regarding all aspects of our project. He provided a timely and detailed proposal, answered our questions and provided revisions to the scope of work that met our needs. Most importantly, he said his crew could work around our dog, eliminating the need for her to head off to summer camp.
Nelson provided a shopping list for us (tile, fixtures, cabinets, countertops, etc) with several suggestions regarding where to shop. Each place we went to knew Nelson and had worked with him several years and all remarked that we would be very pleased with his work. With the guidance from the people he pointed us to we quickly picked out everything for the project and everyone simply coordinated delivery with Nelson- it couldn't have been easier.
His crew arrived promptly each morning, we discussed the plans for the day, they put down drop cloths and other protective cardboard on the floors and carpets in high traffic areas and hung plastic sheets to contain dust during the demo. Demo of the first bath went smoothly, minor issues typical of a 30+ year old house were encountered and fixed. They called me at the end of each day to review what had been completed and what (if anything) my wife and I needed to do before the next day's work. (We were planning to do most of the priming and painting as the rooms were remodeled). The bath was transformed before our eyes into a beautiful modern bath.
The kitchen and second bath demo and remodel was a much bigger and more disruptive undertaking, and went along pretty much like clockwork. Demo of both was basically done in a day, ripping out cabinets fixtures, a wall and floors in both rooms. All prep work (plumbing, new electric lines, subfloor, etc) was coordinated and done in a timely manner. Each day the house was left broom clean and orderly, and tools were stored out of the way.Nelson coordinated delivery of all materials (tile, flooring, cabinets, countertops, etc). His crew willingly took care of several little "extras" that we found and discussed as the project progressed. The new kitchen and bath came together beautifully.
Along the way Nelson provided advice for other small projects we decided to take on ourselves (refinishing and replacing some interior doors, new shelves, priming and painting etc). Nelson and his crew responded very quickly to address any minor details we pointed out after each room was finished.
The project was completed about a week ahead of schedule (about 4 weeks) with only some minor, agreed upon additional costs based on underlying repair issues or extras we added along the way. We are extremely pleased with the result and would highly recommend Peak Carpentry for any remodeling project.

Working with Nelson was awesome. He came to our house, offered suggestions, looked at our photos, and came up with a beautiful drawing (exactly what we were looking for). I found him on google, and my husband was hesitant to use someone we weren't familiar with, so I took the time to call his references. Everyone loved him and his work, so we went ahead.

Nelson was on site each day to get his guys set up and make sure everyone was on the same page. His guys were awesome...friendly, professional, showed up on time and had a great work ethic. (I was late getting home one day and they even let my dog out and played with him in the backyard). Cleaned up the site every day and were very courteous. What an asset to this company.

The project turned out beautifully. Everything, from the materials delivery, to the framing, to the tile, to the finish work and painting, came out exactly as we expected. On time and on budget.

We were definitely be using Nelson and Peak Carpentry for our next project!

I was impressed by the expertise of all the workers (Elecitrician, Plumber, Tile installer, Painter) and will use them again for additional work on my house. They were patient in answering my many questions and explaining what they were doing so I could check out procedures. The workers arrived as expected and finished the job in a timely manner. They were courteous and cleaned up before they left.
Before the job I was also given a long list of places to go to look for the various materials needed. This was especially helpful for I was new to remodeling issues.  The head person Nelson has also recently completed another remodel job for a colleague of mine who was also pleased with the high quality of work.
In short, I highly recommend Peak Carpentry. The work is high quality and price is reasonable, less than all my other estimates but one.

Nelson Laur and his guys have completely remodeled my kitchen, and I love it and have loved the whole experience. From the first day when he and his crew gutted my kitchen and over the month his crew and contracted painters, drywallers, and electricians all meticulously planned and completed each part of the remodel, I have been nothing but impressed with their professionalism, positive attitude and willingness to please. He positively handled every request, even when I asked to have my foyer and upstairs repainted because I did not like the color I'd chosen and when I asked to have another faucet installed because I didn't like the finish I'd chosen.  My husband and I would gladly recommend Nelson Laur and Peak Carpentry for any remodeling job, especially since I have seen his work with my parents' bathrooms and my kitchen. He is responsive to every call and text, reasonable, prompt, honest and realistic. If he cannot do something the way I ask, he will tell me but comes up with or listens to alternate solutions.  I cannot recommend his company enough, but will certainly keep trying.

From the minute I called him and left a message asking for an estimate, Nelson, the owner, personally contacted me right away, set up an appointment within the week, gave me a fair and honest estimate with a written itemized printout of all labor and materials, scheduled the job within 2 weeks and worked every day for 2 weeks to complete the job.  I love how he gave me an email update of the work to be done for each week the Sunday before.   Both bathrooms look beautiful!  Too bad I'm selling the house now!

Nelson Laur showed up promptly for our initial consultation appointment and listened very carefully to what our ideas were about the kitchen and new pantry we wanted. He patiently looked at all of the pictures that I had collected and went over our wish list which was quite detailed. He supplied an estimate in a few days which showed us that some of the ideas we had were a bit over the top (such as rearranging where some of the appliances were to be placed). After thoughtful reconsideration and consultation with Nelson we came up with a different and less costly plan that suited our budget better and still made us happy. We were very specific as to the plan and design elements. Our estimate did not include interior design since we already knew what we wanted.
Nelson and his crew arrived promptly and covered everything to keep the house clean. Demolition started as determined and took a couple of days. Cabinets and appliances were donated. He left us the refrigerator to use for the duration of the remodel which was very nice. Plumbing was then installed and the sink plumbing was moved over so that the sink was under the window instead of in the corner as previously. After this the electricity was redone since lights were being moved and an undermount light being placed.
One additional cost of about $1.5k was that extra hardwood floorboards had to be placed under where the old peninsula existed since the new peninsula was not as wide and the hardwood floor did not extend under the old one. The hardwood floor people did an excellent job of matching our current wood and pattern and we were very pleased with the outcome. That was the only extra cost of note.
We were helped with our cabinet selection by a company recommended by Nelson and were completely satisfied with the excellent customer service. They also offered granite and we luckily found the perfect slab from this company along with backsplash tiles at a great price. We shopped around and could find nothing comparable for the look we wanted. Our installed cabinets included a glass corner door, drawers that self-close, a huge lazy-susan drawer and a new pantry. The granite was installed beautifully and the backsplash was perfect.
Nelson and crew offered some paint suggestions which turned out better than anything we might have chosen. Crown molding was placed all around the ceiling for a more traditional look. The hardwood floor was sanded and given a smooth matte gloss finish, just lovely. Our new pantry was installed with a granite buffet. We ordered our own light fixtures and those were installed for us. Our project turned out perfect and we are very happy with it. We have used Peak Carpentry before and we will use them again.

Peak Carpentry did a great job with the complete remodel of my small bathroom that hadn't been updated since 1961.   Nelson came to the house and had a lot of great ideas - such as taking space from closets and knocking down walls.  I wish I had followed more of his advice, but I wasn't ready to give up closet space.  I had never remodeled a bathroom before, so he stepped me through the process and helped me make some decisions.   He also had storage ideas, such as keeping and creating new niches to store toiletries in my small bathroom.   They referred me to Thomas Summerville to select Kohler fixtures and Mosaic Tile to pick out tile after giving me some initial size/selection guidance.

I'm really happy with the finished bathroom.   The niches are great.   I love that they kept the old  red heating overhead light, and added some timer buttons.   The installed a new much quieter fan with timer buttons and a new recessed light in the shower.     They handled the extensive water damage from my old leaky shower door quickly and didn't charge much extra to fix it.    Jared was also really helpful.   After complaing to him that I was having some trouble finding a vanity that would fit my size requirement (it had to be really short to accomodate a niche and  a medicine cabinet),  Jared went out shopping for me at Lowes and offered to trim the legs on the in-stock vanity so that it would work.

I did have some issues with dust - as I am highly allergic.

All of  the workers and subs were friendly and professional.  I felt comfortable having them in my house while I was away at work or on vacation.  I scheduled this job months in advance to coincide with vacation plans.  They coordinated subs so that someone was in my house every day.   The bathroom (with the exception of the custom shower door) was completed in 2 weeks.

I have no doubts that this new bathroom is built to stand the test of time.
