Workman took three days to shore up the foundation of this very old garage. He was polite, and did a nice job. Estimates from several providers were all over the map, since some recommended extensive work involving the use of helical piers, and installation of a new concrete block foundation. I went with more conservative repair.. It looks fine, and I hope I made the right decision.

Phil Sneed arrived on time and explained to me what he would be doing and looking for.  He was meticulous in going through every room in my house.  He also spent a great deal of time examining the outside of my house looking for signs of structural deterioration.  He did point out an issue with my roof.

Phil Schied from LEVELIFT SYSTEMS came over during snowy weather to look at a problem related to a gabion retaining wall. In consultation with Phil and others, it appears to be more serious and less urgent than our original concern. However, Phil came over quickly when it still seemed urgent.
We were very pleased with both the interpersonal interaction and the results of the consultation with Phil and Levelift.
By the way, I called Levelift based on their Angie's List ratings.

Before hiring LevelLift, I contacted a friend of mine who owns a Structural Engineering firm, but only work commercial not residential.  So after receiving at least (5) estimates, we agreed that LevelLift was the company to hire.
Met with Paul Mauer of Levelift Systems, he was very nice, patient and professional along with his team.  Received a proposal for the work noted below:
The work in the basement  included but not limited too grout beneath concrete, excavate & installed timber walls,
raise window well & installed standard home-improvement store grade cover, raise grade, furnished & installed discharge pipes for down spouts, installed seven steel beams, new interior drainage, repaired damaged mortar joints, installed 12" high cast-in-place concrete curb between steel beams and they took care of all the Montgomery County permits and inspections.  In addition, mobilization, site preparation and  furnished & installed discharge pipe for sump pump.
In addition, Paul recommended a very good Structural Engineer to take care of the structural drawings.
The contract payment terms were broken down into four payments with the option of using major credit cards and we have a ten (10) year warranty.
Paul and his team were very responsive, punctual, and professional and the quality of the work was excellent.  We have not had any problems in the basement since 2013.  They are highly recommended. (A+)

Perfectly. Levelift was easy to work with and very accommodating to my crazy schedule for a start date. In the end it turned out perfectly because even the weather agreed last week after a brutal winter.
Monday morning the crew showed up as agreed and showed me the plan. The immediately began working on the outside part of the job, pulling out necessary shrubs and buses, digging holes for pier installation. The first day they installed 2 or 3 piers. Second day a crew came to take out part of the living room floor (this is another company I hired to do the inside finishing work once all the foundation work was completed) so that the fireplace and chimney could be stabilized properly. Later in the day the foundation crew began digging inside that hole. Third day they drilled out two holes in another adjoining room to install piers (that part of the house in built on a slab, remainder of house has crawlspace) as well as another hole under the back patio for final pier. They also began installing piers inside as well as completing pier installation on outside front of house. Fourth day they completed all pier installation and began refiilling holes with dirt, compacting each one tightly. Fifth day they poured concrete back over the two side room holes, replanted shrubs they had removed, and put topsoil over outside work area (could have chosen topsoil or mulch). Then they cleaned up everything. It looked better than when they started.
The second crew from another company came in and began installing the new joists under living room floor and closing up the hole for the weekend.
Levelift did a great job. Before deciding on a contractor I had also hired an individual structural engineer to evaluate the situation. The proposal Levelift presented was in sync with that report. I had also had two other companies bid on the job, but Levelift turned out to be the best fit. And the job they did was excellent.

they are a wonderful company. Paul was very thorough and careful, making sure I would have no future problems. His team was very professional and worked efficiently and left the place clean. Paul additionally provided good advice about what coculd have caused my problem and how to alleviate the cause.  They knew what they were doing and did it with integrity.

I was very satisfied with them. They were one of the few companies that I have had do anything for me that came when they said they would, arrived on time, and completed the job at the expected time. They were very knowledgeable and it was a totally satisfying experience. They were very helpful in recommending that I needed something else to be done. They gave me a lead and that worked out very well.

They were excellent. They were very prompt in coming out to give us an estimate. They were timely in doing the work. The engineer was on site frequently checking their work. There was also some follow up where they had to replace part of our flagstone patio after they took a portion out to install the tiling. Our patio looks like it had never been disturbed. Everything was perfect from the beginning to end. They were wonderful and we really pleased with them.

We extended our old back patio (orig size 20' x 20') to 20' x 50'. The old patio and new extension sat on more than 14 feet of unstable "disturbed soil" so we needed to install a weight bearing system that would support the concrete patio extension. We contacted  Paul Mauer from Levelift Systems. He was outstanding. He recommended installation of 16 -1.5" solid square shaft galvanized helical piles w top plate and sleeve to support the patio concrete extension. This helical pile system eliminated the necessity of digging more than 14 feet around our old back patio to reach solid, undisturbed soil to pour concrete footings. Paul recommended use of a digital torque monitoring device that would detect when undisturbed soil was reached by the helical piles.
Paul promptly responded to our initial call and made an appointment to give us an estimate for the job. He was punctual for his initial visit. He was very knowledgeable and spend quite a bit of time discussing our options. The installation of the helical piles went well ... in some places the helical piles had to be installed installed as deep as 24 feet to reach undisturbed soil. Paul and his crew were punctual and very professional. The job was completed without any problems and they left the site intact. Paul was also very helpful in recommending Matt Taylor of Taylor enterprises (also in Angie's list) for the concrete work as well as helping us contact an engineer to oversee the construction.  Paul and Matt coordinated the work on the job beautifully and we were very happy with the entire project. We strongly recommend him for this type of work . We are planning to do a  similar remodeling job of our front entrance in the spring that will require helical piles and we will definitely contact Paul Mauer for that job as well.

From the initial visit to the house until the final inspection of the work LevelLift made this experience as painless as possible considering I had to have my foundation supported. We had filed an insurance claim which was denied as the 'settling' had occurred over 50 years and was considered normal (verified by the MD Insurance Commission). The insurance company recommended an geotechnical engineer test the soil which we did. The engineer report found our soil to be soft and recommended piering of the back wall of the house and removal or a large portion of the basement floor to be replaced with reinforced concrete supported by piering as the only means of preventing future settling. LevelLift was up front from the beginning that the house could not be leveled, only stabilized. I requested an all inclusive estimate not wanting to have to deal with additional contractors and wanting a guaranteed price. They answered all my questions, were not pushy and when the work was being done were nothing but professional and courteous. They discovered a sewer pope leak and cleared the area prior to the plumber arriving so all the plumber had to do was cut out the old pipe and replace it cutting down on the cost of the plumber. They added two additional piers to the basement from the initial proposal at no additional cost. They brought in two concrete subcontractors to give them proposals on the concrete work. The one that did the job worked with us to solve a problem that developed since the plumber had to raise the sewer pipe higher than expected to ensure proper drainage due to the settling. I would recommend them to anyone unfortunate enough to need their services.
