It was a good experience. The salesperson stuck within my budget, gave me options, and seemed knowledgeable.

They are very good. No problem. I can only assume their prices are fair. They don't save you the most money, but they don't take the most either. Excellent quality. They know what they are doing.

The experience was great in terms of logistics. The sales rep kept his appointment time and did not make us wait too long or feel rushed. The problems I had only came up when I began questions other than and quot; Can we take this for a test drive?and quot;. We had narrowed in on a car we liked. We made plans to come back the next morning after having slept on it. So we did just that, and I looked into what to check on a used car from many internet sources on our second trip. When I asked the sales rep if it was ok to open up the engine and have him show us the air filter on the car, he responded with and quot;We are in the business of selling cars, not teaching mechanics classesand quot; which was not very nice but OK. When I explained that I was asking because I felt uncomfortable poking around under the hood of a car which I hadn't bought yet, he seemed amicable to me checking by myself.
The real problem came up when I asked to see the spare tire. Wouldn't it be a pain to drive off the lot with a car you've just bought and only find out later the spare tire doesn't have air in it? Well, he opened up the trunk (which was completely dry) and lifted up the carpeting to reveal the spare tire wheel well underneath. He started to say and quot;not much to see here, it's going to look pretty much like every other spare tire you've seenand quot; which I found somewhat belittling. So I asked to have the spare tire pulled out anyway, teasing myself for being neurotic. Once the tire was out, we saw the wheel well had at least an inch of water sitting in it, damp with leaves, old pens and a slight smell. This was really disappointing, but I would've been understanding had the sales rep been honest about his reaction. Instead of apologizing and saying he could have a mechanic look into what could be causing that- he insisted that it must be from some exterior source and would certainly never happen again. He kept saying that it must be snow that had melted, or water that someone had dumped in by mistake. When I suggested that the puddle could be from a previous flood that wasn't reported to Carfax, or from a leak deep in the frame pooling into the lowest point of the car he essentially said if I didn't buy this car, some other lucky person who isn't going to be worried about that sort of thing will buy up the car once he gets the wheel well cleaned and dried out. Sounds to me like some unlucky person isn't going to see what saved me from probably making a terrible purchase.
Just be weary that at the end of the day, the incentive of the sales rep is to make the sale which isn't always in line with a buyer's best interest. Be careful!

Positive overall experience. Very helpful and professional. Showed us a number of different cars until we found one that fit our needs and budget. My wife was very happy with Car Max, especially after dealing with a number of traditional used car salesmen

Very easy. Came on the 27th to get an appraisal on our Honda Accord. Had visited other "we buy your car" dealerships but the CarMax appraisal offered the most. Purchased a new vehicle elsewhere (only because CarMax does not sale new Fords) and brougt the Honda back on the 29th with the kids. The kids fell asleep so I sat in the car while my husband went in and completed the paperwork to give them the Honda. My husband was in and out with check in hand in less than 30 minutes. EXCELLENT!!
