BMS Home Renovators

We hired BMS Home Renovators to rebuild a deck and put up drywall for our newly purchased home. The quality of the work was absolutely abysmal! The deck was wobbly because it was not properly attached to the house, so we had to pay someone else to attach it to the house to keep it from wobbling. The beams that were installed were visibly uneven, crooked and warped. The wood was split in multiple places because he screwed in the beams improperly. We had to pay someone else to fix this as well. The support beams were improperly installed so that the railing was unstable as well. Again, we had to pay someone else to fix that. According to our general contractor, BMS Home Renovators had used drywall screws for the deck, which is apparently inappropriate because they are not meant for outdoor use as they are susceptible to rust. Not only was some of the screwed wood split but there were screws that were not even screwed in all the way and left sticking out! In one 4 in post there were literally 10 screws within that 4 in width. I'm not a contractor but this completely chewed up the wood it was screwed into so it was not secure at all. We therefore had to pay to have this rectified as well. In addition to the obvious incompetence and poor quality of the work, BMS Home Renovators was very unresponsive to our requests to rectify the above mistakes, necessitating our having to pay extra to have the work done by someone else. Approximately three weeks elapsed before he responded to our concerns, and even then, he did not rectify his mistakes to our satisfaction. I find it difficult to believe that the quality of the work they did would have passed inspection standards for safety and certainly not aesthetics, especially because it was wobbly. As for the drywall work, this was very poorly done as well. For example, the holes that he carved out for the outlet covers were too large and therefore larger than the standard covers. These too had to be repaired. On two occasions they were told to leave holes for wires, which they did not do, requiring other contractors to cut holes and fish the wires out. Needless to say, we found this company to be incredibly incompetent, unreliable, and unprofessional. We would definitely not recommend this company to anybody for anything!!!
