LL arrived with crew ready to work, which was fine accept it rushed the negotiation process. I outlined the work needed and wanted a firm estimate (for the entire project). LL wanted to charge by an hourly rate which I thought was excessive. We finally agreed on a price for the first day's work (it was a 1.5 day project). The first day was fine (note: I kept an eye on the progress). His crew did a good job on the front of our house. However, on the second day, he showed up with extra help (he had another job for the afternoon) so he could knock out the back/side yards faster. He left his crew unsupervised for a long period of time and I was unable to watch his crew. As a result, they didn't weed the back yard but dumped mulch on top of the weeds. I caught this before they finished and when he arrived for final payment, I point this out. He had one of his crew pull the visible weeds, but the rest stayed buried. In a couple of days, the weeds popped back through. I asked him to come out and finish the job per our contract. At first, he argued that "weeding" was not part of the contract (it was and I have the paperwork). Then he argued over what constituted "weeding"...as in, he only would "weed" what he could spray with a herbicide. He then wanted to send out two crew members at $12 hour each to finish the job I already paid for. Finally, he said he would come out and finish the job....he has failed to do so (and bring back my trash can his crew took by accident). In short, I was extremely displeased with the overall project, his lack of supervision and failure to complete the contract as agreed. The total cost paid was just over $3,600 and note that approximately $3,400 was labor. I bought the mulch separately, minus an additional six yards he was willing to sell (at a premium). One last point, even though he agreed to a single price, he kept changing back to an hourly rate stating that the "single price" was an hourly rate and that he needed to keep charging. He charged the same amount $1800 for the second half day as the first full day as he argued he had a "double crew". I would never use their services again nor would I recommend them to anyone.
