COLUMBIA ROOFING

I needed a new roof and contacted 3 companies that had good reviews on Angie’s List. They all seemed to say about the same thing, recommending similar products. I went with Columbia Roofing as I had used them before for a small project and was pleased. For my roof, they were able to match the other competitor who had the lowest price, and they even beat it by $300. Melissa in the office, was especially helpful in answering my questions the times I called before signing the contract. The day before the project was scheduled, the materials were dropped off; the day they were to do the project, they showed up at the promised time. In one day, they completed the roof, did everything they said they would, and meticulously cleaned up the yard. Just as importantly, the roof looks great! I highly recommend Columbia Roofing. It was a no-hassle project, and the company made good on their promise to install a quality roof in a quick and professional manner.

I had a wonderful experience with Columbia Roofing at my previous home in Columbia. They came out to fix a roof leak, and since it was a minor leak, they patched the leak at no charge! I thought - with service like that, I would be a customer for life! So when I had leakage issues and wanted new gutters installed in my current home in Jessup, Columbia Roofing was the first company that I went to! Unfortunately, I did not receive the same, exceptional service that I had first experienced. I would actually NOT recommend Columbia Roofing AT ALL from now on! Columbia Roofing came out on 1/9/19 for an in home estimate, a month after I called to schedule. I was told that I would receive the estimate by the end of the week. The following week, 1/14, I emailed CR as I did not receive the estimate. The estimate was received on 1/15, and I sent the signed contract with the “down” payment by 1/17. The estimate was for new seamless gutters with guards, and a new drip edge, which I was told would address the leakage I was experiencing. The work was scheduled for Friday, 2/1. I called on 1/25, 1/29, 1/31, and emailed on 1/30, requesting licensing and insurance information. I finally received the information on 1/31, just days before the work was supposed to be done. 2/1 it snowed, so the work could not be completed; it was rescheduled for 2/2 or 2/4. No one showed up on 2/2 OR 2/4. I called and emailed and did not receive a response back until 2/5. I was rescheduled (again!) for 2/7. 2/7, CR did come, however they did not install the gutter guards on my new gutters! The CR crew said that another crew was on their way to finish, yet no one showed up. I called and left a message, and emailed. I got an email back on 2/8, saying the “crew had to get materials”. I don’t understand that response, as 1. They should have had the materials in the first place, back on 2/1, when the job was first scheduled, and 2. I should have received a preemptive phone call informing me of this. I was also told that the crew would be back on the afternoon of 2/8 to finish, however, once again, they did not show up. 2/9, I emailed and asked if there was someone “higher up” that I could talk to about the level of service I was receiving. I received a response back on 2/11 that said the work would be completed in the next day or two. The response also ignored my request to talk to someone “higher up”. Later in February, we had a big storm with a lot of wind. The wind blew off most of the shingles that were on the edges of my roof, all around the entire perimeter of my roof. Since CR was slow in responding and we were expecting more rain, I contacted another company to come out and reattach/replace the shingles. The new company came out immediately (2/28) and told me the shingles blew off so easily because when the new gutters, guards, and drip edge were installed, they were installed incorrectly. The gutter guards were pushing all the shingles up, many of the shingles were just sitting on the roof, unattached, plus the new drip edge did not fix the leakage issue I was having in the first place! (I was furious that CR charged me for a new drip edge when that didn’t fix the leak issue!) The new company found the leak issue and fixed it for a fraction of the price that I paid CR. The new company told me that they would not touch the drip edge or gutters/guards because it would void any warranty I had with CR. I called CR to come out and fix the incorrectly installed gutter guards, and CR said they would come out and fix it on 3/4. 3/4 I was told that they couldn’t come out because they needed to “get supplies to do the ‘repairs’”... again. Finally, after first contacting CR in December, by March, the work was done, and hopefully, done correctly. I sent a very polite email asking the company if there was anything they could do to rectify my negative experience, and I received a response saying that they would give me 6% off… I would definitely NOT recommend this company again. I am very sad that I had recommended this company with glowing reviews in the past. Please - save your wallet, and save yourself the headaches, and go with another company! * This review was not posted immediately after the work was performed, as I first wanted to insure that nothing else would leak / “go wrong”.

I think I have already rated this, but here it is again, so I will make it short, I had 3 estimates, and they were the best in terms of price, and quality of work. If the weather is bad you need to work with them, as they will call you to reschedule.

Awesome service and delivery. A highly reputable and ethical company if you ask people who have hired their services, which is what I did before contacting them. Billy came by and gave me an estimate, found him to be very knowledgeable about their product and he doesn't over sell and will leave you alone to make a decision. The price quoted was very reasonable (I had 3 different estimates). During the actual work you have experienced supervisor inspecting the work. The roof looks great and I keep looking at it every time I pull up in the driveway.

Used CRI for roof repairs several years back & they treated me right doing a great job. When new roof was needed on our 3 level townhouse, CRI was the only roofer called. From estimate to final billing, they demonstrate all the qualities one wants & needs in a contractor. Will definitely use them for all my roofing needs.

replaced the roof as proposed, including some spots that needed new plywood. Roof was done on one day, they came back the next day to install the gutters.

They are very quick and efficient.

They replaced slate.We had 19 or 20 slates replaced. They used to come every other year but we're having them come every year now because of the age of the house.

Within a week Columbia Roofers setup the work and had two roofers at our door at the agreed upon time. The roofers knew exactly what needed to be done were great to deal with and got the work done in a couple of hours. 

Estimator came out on time and was punctual. Poor rating s for the project manager not the estimator. I attempted to reach the project manager 4 times to ask a few questions about the quote and only received a call back once (two days after I left the message, and I missed the call). The company had a great reputation on Angie's List but  follow up was horrible and as a result i selected another vendor. The estimator was great the issue I had was with the Project Manager and lack of follow up by that individual.

m George was extremely good to work with - straight forward, informative and knowledgeable. He answered all m questions, and straightened out erroneous inforamtion on which type of skylight was fesaible for my roof slope. He returned all my calls very promptly an dso I never felt there was an unanswered question. His inspection of my roof was much the most thorough of all 6 contractors whom I interviewed.
Mike, who did the actually roof work and skylight installation, with his helper, arrived very promptly and worked dilligently and steadily completing the job well within  the allotted time freame. He was a pleasure to work with, and everything was cleaned off perfectly. After they left, there was no sign, in the front and bak yard, that anyone had been working on the roof.
I recommend them  If you go with George and Mike, you will have got the best in the business!
